Sticking to my theory. After tonight, Reds will fight like \*hell\* tomorrow not to lose game number 100.
But Cubs winning out 2022 with ten wins probably would have caused irrational exuberance anyway.
See you next year, everyone

Justin Verlander has tied an Astros franchise record by striking out 8 consecutive batters (tied Jim Deshaies and Don Wilson)
Whatever it is, Seattle got it fixed with a letter to Rob for Julio earlier this year. If Rossy isn’t having that convo with MLB then someone needs too. It’s egregious.
The life on Thompson Ball just isn't what it is mid-season. I hope he gets on a good conditioning program this off season. I think he's going to take on a peak Andrew Miller role next year and we will really need him
Ketchup and Mayo is called “Fry Sauce” here in Utah and they act like they invented it but honestly it’s probably so popular here because straight ketchup is too spicy for the Mormons.
But also I love it on my fries too
okay i get what sciambi is saying here but it's completely stupid to say ted williams had a massive lead in two stats that nobody used 70 years ago and therefore should have won MVP
i agree with the premise but the argument blows. ted williams was shitty to the writers and dimaggio was beloved, that's why he won
The media screwing over Williams was a theme.
During DiMaggio's 56 game hitting streak in 1941:
DiMaggio - .408 BA / .463 OBP / .717 SLG (1.181 OPS)
Williams - .412 BA / .540 OBP / .684 SLG (1.224 OPS - This was actually *lower* than his final full season OPS)
I’m biased because my dad had Ted Williams’ book on hitting (dad coached Little League for awhile). I remember finding it mind-boggling (still do) that anyone could hit over .400 for a season
To add on to what they are talking about...
Ted Williams also won the Triple Crown in 1942 and 1947 and finished 2nd in the MVP voting. Hit .388 in 1957 at age 38 with a 1.257 OPS.
What's the common denominator here?
A Yankee won the MVP in all of those years.
Messing with my one Utah baseball buddy who’s a Yankee fan by congratulating Judge then telling him he’s gonna look good in Cubbie blue next year
(Yes, I know that doesn’t really make sense for us. Just love trolling)
Pat Hughes with an outstanding story about Lou Boudreau, and the one-game playoff between Cleveland and Boston for the pennant in 1948. As player-manager (!!) for the season, he had 18 HR and 106 RBI as starting SS. In the clutch final game, he was 4-for-4, with 2HR for the CLE win at Fenway. I have very fond memories of Lou calling Cubs games on the radio all the way into the 1980's. He treated every listener like a 10 year old kid who needed to learn the fundamentals of baseball
I think anything that’s not playing baseball to him sounds boring. I hope he gets a broadcast career because he’s so good at it and he’s honestly one of my favorite players of all time
Btw hottovy said in his interview, while Willy was rounding the bases, that he gave up a bunch of those and knows what that sounds like.
He only gave up two HR’s in the bigs (he only pitched two years). He did give up 73 on the minors….
Were they out of challenges last night? Quiroz was definitely out, but Happ looked safe by a country mile. I figured they thought, "whatever, who cares"....but then they challenge this one today?
My (meaningless) opinion on tonight is that someone saw it from the dugout go out of play, so they challenge. However, there was no camera angle that can confirm this, so they cannot overturn.
I could be wrong, obviously.

Hoping to make it back to Wrigley on July 1st to see Cubs Guardians (and my first game at Wrigley in over four years) and to Toronto in August. Manifesting my buddies from Utah joining me in Chicago, and visiting my buddy in Buffalo then driving to Toronto
Elysian makes insanely good pumpkin beers. I'm not typically one who enjoys them, but they are really something else. I always get a 6-pack when the season rolls around.
MLB sent me an email saying I can win postseason tickets with Sorare, the official NFT provider of major league baseball
i will not be attending any postseason games this year

had a dream one time that jonathan sciambi got shitcanned back to ESPN and Taylor McGregor was the play-by-play with James Deshaies as the color commentator
i'm sad for the reality that can never be

Damn. Tough Loss for the ole Cubs. At least we can get 'em tomorrow for the Reds' 100th loss. I's alright Cubs fans! Go Cubs Go!
Fuck
Oh hamburgers
Lead off walks are bad

damn that's bad
Ouch! Edit: that’s gonna leave a mark
Fabian would never
So if the Reds and the Pirates both lose, do they play a tiebreaker to see who sucks slightly less?
Umps are clearly blinded by his glow
I am really so sick of Seiya getting such shitty calls. You clearly see him saying “what the fuck blue?” In Seiya.
Seiya is a playa on the ump's wives circuit is the only explanation, yeesh
yeah dribbling isn't part of baseball, that's more of a basketball thing
Get it together Phil
Suzuki and taking a ball for a strike. Name a better duo.
Seiya and robo umps.
umps are racist against suzuki and i'm only half-way kidding
Whatever it is, Seattle got it fixed with a letter to Rob for Julio earlier this year. If Rossy isn’t having that convo with MLB then someone needs too. It’s egregious.
They do make really weird calls against him
Well shit I guess I underestimated the Reds determination not to lose game number 100. Dang
Buck Farmer sounds like an option in a video game for a pre-created character to choose.
The life on Thompson Ball just isn't what it is mid-season. I hope he gets on a good conditioning program this off season. I think he's going to take on a peak Andrew Miller role next year and we will really need him
Well, poop
Easy come, easy go.
How do you give up a homer to a guy named Chucky? WTF Thompson?
Keegan :(
I like using Keegan in these kind of situations twice a week as his role.
Sorry, this one is on me.
1,000 cycles in St. Louis! Away with you! *dramatic music*
Ketchup and Mayo is called “Fry Sauce” here in Utah and they act like they invented it but honestly it’s probably so popular here because straight ketchup is too spicy for the Mormons. But also I love it on my fries too
You love Mormons on your fries?
I am here for the dressing talk
Cubs look to be in good shape to win with a .000 BABIP
That Nico bat drop was beautiful
Gotta love the “rush into Nico’s arms” hug then the “bro handshake into a hug” Hug right afterward
You had me at “rush into Nico’s arms”. Actually, you can take a hike. Nico had me at “rush into Nico’s arms”. **ETA:** *swoOn*
I don’t think I could get between you and Nico’s warm embrace
*gentle moan, the way Ryan Braun does when he wipes*
Don’t me think of that bushbaby when I’m thinking about Nico’s biceps around me!
Have yourself a season Nico. Would love to lock him up on a Ozzie Albies type deal
Nico Also, Keegan
WOOOO NICO!
NICO PIMPED THAT? IS HE FEELING HIMSELF?
Hoerner is a beast
Nico!!
I’M HOERNY AS FUCK!
That was demolished
NICO!
#HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NURSE!!!
LOL
alright Nico
Hoerner gives me a boerner!
Nico!!
Way to go Keegan
did sciambi just say "earnies" for earned runs? holy shit i fucking hate ESPN for making him this way
In 10 years that's gonna be the name of the dive bar he co-owns with some sleazeball from St. Louis.
I BELIEVE IN KEEGAN
keegan thompson is the new Montgomery, I think. spot starter/long reliever who wants to start but probably shouldn't
So you're saying he will get the save in the Cubs game 7 WS win? 🤔
The hand holding that convention ball is so shaky haha
okay i get what sciambi is saying here but it's completely stupid to say ted williams had a massive lead in two stats that nobody used 70 years ago and therefore should have won MVP i agree with the premise but the argument blows. ted williams was shitty to the writers and dimaggio was beloved, that's why he won

i'll eat the downvotes and say i don't give a h*ck about the american league home run record
Messing with my one Utah baseball buddy who’s a Yankee fan by congratulating Judge then telling him he’s gonna look good in Cubbie blue next year (Yes, I know that doesn’t really make sense for us. Just love trolling)
i'm a tremendous fan of Javier Assad
That was a bit of a frustrating inning. Men on base and the middle of the order, but no runs. It is meaningless game 161, though, so carry on.
Seiya is unbelievably good at knowing when to swing and when not to swing
Pat Hughes with an outstanding story about Lou Boudreau, and the one-game playoff between Cleveland and Boston for the pennant in 1948. Lou Boudreau was a wonderful broadcaster.
You guys think next year will be Votto's last? I hope not
I’m really looking forward to his broadcasting career when he does retire
He’d be great but apparently he thinks broadcasting would be boring!
I think anything that’s not playing baseball to him sounds boring. I hope he gets a broadcast career because he’s so good at it and he’s honestly one of my favorite players of all time
Apparently he takes improv classes…which I think is amazing. He’s a genuinely funny guy, perhaps he has a future in comedy
Holy shit I didn’t think I could love him more
Seiya would be the best batter in the league if robo umps were implemented
C'mon Cubs, let's send the Reds to the 100 loss basement.
So there's 2 teams that could win their 100th game today and 2 teams that could lose their 100th game today. This has been a weird season.
Who’d make the best baseball to cricket conversion? Someone ask Jomboy
Btw hottovy said in his interview, while Willy was rounding the bases, that he gave up a bunch of those and knows what that sounds like. He only gave up two HR’s in the bigs (he only pitched two years). He did give up 73 on the minors….
trout wouldn't be very good at the cricket, i don't think
That's gotta suck. Waiting on a replay review and you get hurt taking warmup pitches in a meaningless game at the end of the season.
Cessa got hurt due to the challenge?
Were they out of challenges last night? Quiroz was definitely out, but Happ looked safe by a country mile. I figured they thought, "whatever, who cares"....but then they challenge this one today?

tom rapscallion
"CHICAGO IS CHALLENGING THE RULING THAT THE BALL WENT OUT OF PLAY AND DID NOT STAY IN PLAY" thanks tom hallion
Nice hustle by Chris - helped to force that bad throw
That was so goofy lol
That induced my mild Quiroz ptsd

And also Milwaukee and Indy! No SLC though 😭
Hoping to make it back to Wrigley on July 1st to see Cubs Guardians (and my first game at Wrigley in over four years) and to Toronto in August. Manifesting my buddies from Utah joining me in Chicago, and visiting my buddy in Buffalo then driving to Toronto
Do the Reds roast their batting helmets to get that just burned look?
/u/steveofthejungle inspired me to [get some pumpkin beer](https://i.imgur.com/4itljrB.jpg), and hey we have matching glasses!
Elysian makes insanely good pumpkin beers. I'm not typically one who enjoys them, but they are really something else. I always get a 6-pack when the season rolls around.
Hell yeah! Looks delicious and that’s an amazing pint glass!
Hell yes Hot Stuff is such a banger
Willson Contreras is still awesome

Maybe the last time I’ll ever do this: #WIIIIILLLLLLSOOOOONNNNNN!!!!!!
WILLY BOMB!
Willson!!
#HELLOOOOOOOOOOO NURSE!!!!!!
😂👍
MLB sent me an email saying I can win postseason tickets with Sorare, the official NFT provider of major league baseball i will not be attending any postseason games this year
Scoring one last game on paper tonight. Ending the season on a 4 pm EDT weekday matinee tomorrow is not ideal.
For ten bucks I could go see Pirates-Cards tomorrow afternoon and get one last look at Pujols. Except tonight they sat Albert after only 2 AB.
Scuttlebutt is that he isn't going to play tomorrow.

I tuned in for a perfect game 🤬
lol at the lowkey shade they're throwing at the lack of crowd (noise)
Making a burger to enjoy for the last game of the season I get to watch. Beer of the game to come later
Cincy with the Y Boog can y off
quiet Stadium is sad
Willson goes yard tonight and as always, go Cubs! 🍻
Yoooooo!
Good call!!
🔮
Let's get the Reds up to 100 tonight, boys!
No offense to Assad, but it kinda sucks the Wesneski cant pitch every night.
