Holy shit. The fucking *Nationals* beat the Phillies 13-4.
HOW? The Nats are the worst team in baseball! (I should know, I watch them play every week 😭😭). How do the Phills manage to shit the bed every year?
I think I heard something about Dusty saying he’s done resting his guys, going to let them play the last week to start ramping back up
Edit: yep he said with the opponent vying for the wild card spot he is playing all out for the integrity of the game. Of course he knows he’ll have off days during the wild card series too, so it may not all be so chivalrous lol
Wild prediction: The Cubs will go hard after Senga instead of Rodon this offseason, and will use both him and Suzuki to attempt to court Ohtani in 2024.
I broke the habit of smoking hopium where the Cubs are concerned, but I had a momentary visual image of Ohtani in Cubbie blue pinstripes. Oh man, what a thrill THAT would be…
On one hand, it would be cool to see Judge break Maris record, on the other hand, seeing all the Yankees fans piss and moan because opposing pitchers aren't serving up meatballs is entertaining.
There is actually kind of a cool narrative you could do with that one. The rematch angle is the obvious one, but also the winner gets to have an asterisk free WS title. The Astros without cheating, and the Dodgers without the shortened season.
That said, I would like a fresh matchup the year. Gonna root for the Mariners, Padres and Guardians until they get eliminated, then I don't give a shit who wins.
I actually really have enjoyed what I’ve seen of the guardians this year. Maybe not the best all around players, but a hard working, hustling team. And they’ve been on a real hot stretch, if they can keep that going, they could be a real dark horse threat.
I would be rooting for them, but they have someone I went to school with and I found him very unpleasant so I just can’t do it lol
Yes, Jed, contrary to the way you talk to Cubs fans with the truth skirting comments, they’re not idiots. They know what JHey meant to the team and city.
I took it more as the fans at Wrigley focused on that rather than the bad play for the majority of his large contract. I dont think anyone expected booing, but maybe the overwhelmingly positive reception was what he meant.
Jed himself is just awkward. He has one of the best jobs in the country. Going from Theo to Jed is like going from lobster to fish sticks. Hopefully he is turning this thing around.
So far so good. Yeah, we got a title under Theo (with Jed), but right now we actually have a pitching infrastructure. We’ve had more rookie pitchers have some success with the Cubs this season than probably the entirety of Theo’s watch over the team. Let’s hope Jed is better than Theo at free agent acquisitions.
Theo obviously did a great job of building the team, but absolutely left nothing in the cupboard upon leaving. So yeah its a tough act to follow cause Jed basically has to start over, meanwhile fans are impatient and want the team to be good again. Understandably so.
Yeah Theo really went hard after top tier hitters, while Jed is focusing more on pitching. I can't really say which is the correct philosophy, but during the Theo era having to get pitching through free agency and trades sucked to do as great arms are a premium and come at a high cost. I have really enjoyed seeing Steele, Thompson, and Wesneski develop this year. It's promising to see.
Maybe the catcher shouldn’t even move their glove from middle middle. Just let the ball go whizzing to the backstop, strikes are called based on where the glove is
If I had to nitpick, I’d knock Velazquez (even with the dope triple lol), slide morel to center and Bote to second, then put Higgins at first. But with our current availabilities not bad at all
[These bastards are really out here making me almost as emotional about J-Hey as I was Rizzo et al.](https://twitter.com/Cubs/status/1576273237398331393)
Matt Mervis and PCA on the Marquee pre game show. Both well-spoken, sounds like their heads are on right. Excited for 2023.
Edit: Mervis - "I like homeruns" lol
Love these guys
Buying a W flag for my house that we bought this spring was my favorite purchase this year. More than the house.

Fack
Suzuki would’ve been struck out after those two
This ump. That was a strike all day
It’s cb bucknor. Now it all makes sense
Morel's smile is so infectious
(tips fedora) m'rod
Just scoreboard watching, and wow the Phillies and Brewers are really fighting for that ~~last wild card spot~~ higher draft pick
Holy shit. The fucking *Nationals* beat the Phillies 13-4. HOW? The Nats are the worst team in baseball! (I should know, I watch them play every week 😭😭). How do the Phills manage to shit the bed every year?
Yeah and it doesn’t get any easier for the Phillies either as they end the season against the Astros
The Astros are probably going to be locked into the one seed and could roll out a AAA squad if they wanted.
I think I heard something about Dusty saying he’s done resting his guys, going to let them play the last week to start ramping back up Edit: yep he said with the opponent vying for the wild card spot he is playing all out for the integrity of the game. As a Pennsylvanian who hates the Phillies, this pleases me. As someone who despises the Astros, this frustrates me.
Bro fuck these blind ass umps
A game with Smyly and Miley, what a time to be alive Also with Alzolay, all the pitcher's last names end in Y
Was it Mike Quade for whom every player surname ended in -y?
Brought to you by O’reilly
It’s bout to get wicky up in here Edit: manny. Still ends in a y
Manny ManRoddy
Miley's pitching like he double-parked the getaway car in a loading zone.
"Dude, can we hurry this up? I have tickets to a Second City show!"
Minor heart attack there
Damn that was so close.
HAPP IS STILL A GOLD GLOVER DAMNIT
I'll blame the sun, the wind, or even friggin' aliens before I blame him for missing a catch. That's how infrequently it happens lol
At the Mariners game so I missed the HR but man I love Seiya
Lmao did Seiya bleach/frost his hair?? Edit: hot take -- Quiroz did it to him while he was sleeping.
No he went Super Seiya-n https://www.reddit.com/r/CHICubs/comments/xrcwxx/hes_gone_super_seiyan/
This isn't even his final form 😂
Yeah he said the new baby won’t stop crying, all the stress is getting to him
😂😂😂
Yay Daddy!
SEIYA LATER
#SEI-YA!
Wild prediction: The Cubs will go hard after Senga instead of Rodon this offseason, and will use both him and Suzuki to attempt to court Ohtani in 2024.

I like the way you think.
HUGE
#HELLOOOOOOOOOO NURSE!!!
🤣
Suzuki ain’t waiting for the umps to fuk him this time
Seiya Good bye
"Jane Lynch have bigger dick than Ultimate Warrior" is always the first thing I think of when I see or hear Jane Lynch.
Morel saw more pitches in the 7th than the Reds did.
4 pitches, 3 outs. Holy moly.
[Chapman had a 3 pitch inning back in 2016](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S45bSZQH76A)
Did the Cubs win that game?
[Yes, Walk off walk in the 11th](https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHN/CHN201608110.shtml)
he looked so good in cubs blue 🥲
I think Miley just pitched the whole inning before one turn of the new pitch clock lmao
Miley did his job. Now gonna go sit in his rocking chair w sum dewars and soda.
Immadduxulate
Ok bote has some rights bc of that tag. What a play!
Cubs are showcasing the strategy of having ten swingman types in the bullpen and using them for three inning stints.
the one time a slide into first base is justified
Dang Bote!
Bote is all star 1b
Imma need our boys to get some runs in so I can go to sleep. I don't want no stinkin' extra innings tonight 😫
On one hand, it would be cool to see Judge break Maris record, on the other hand, seeing all the Yankees fans piss and moan because opposing pitchers aren't serving up meatballs is entertaining.
I do enjoy the team chaos position
Team Chaos is the only non cubs flair ill wear
So like…that dodgers Astros rematch is gonna be wild 😏

This whole thing is so awkward. He’s basically praising us for not booing.
It’s pretty wild. We’re not the ones out there yelling to fire a manager for underperforming players lol
Agreed. The upcoming pitchers are all solid. I’m not saying he’s doing a bad job per se, but Theo was a tough act to follow
Theo obviously did a great job of building the team, but absolutely left nothing in the cupboard upon leaving. So yeah its a tough act to follow cause Jed basically has to start over, meanwhile fans are impatient and want the team to be good again. Understandably so.
Theo and Jed obviously have different strategies on how to build a team. Hoping that Jed is just as successful if not more
Yeah Theo really went hard after top tier hitters, while Jed is focusing more on pitching. I can't really say which is the correct philosophy, but during the Theo era having to get pitching through free agency and trades sucked to do as great arms are a premium and come at a high cost. Looks like Willson has the beginning of some muttonchops going on lol
Now I’m going back and deleting all the tasteless comments about jhey I’ve made over the past 5 yrs. See you guys in 3 years
Good of you to delete them. Better late than never, shit.
To be real, more than anything watching these 2016 players leave just makes me feel old. Old, man.
Didn’t heyward pay for all of rossys hotel rooms for a year or something like that?
Yeah they just talked about it, he paid for suites all season
I still luv u JHey <3
Nice to see JHey get the standing O, too bad the bat never lived up to expectations but he was always solid in the field and a good guy
Geez, carve em up alzolay I walked away and only got to see the last out lol
Hoerner uses JHey’s walk up music, slow groundball to second 😬 But seriously I’ll miss that dude, good guy
I’d invite him over for dinner and insist he stays in the guest bedroom for pancakes in the morning
lol, Demp staring down at the field menacingly
Don’t do it dempster! You have a family to think about!
Cubs better re-sign Smyly
I feel bad for that kid. He clearly doesn't want to say it lol
Little man was not havin it
If Suzuki gets umpired again I swear
Just because the pitcher is 6’6 doesn’t mean his strike zone has to be that of a 6’6 batter
Not a strike
Great take by Willy. Do it, Seiya! e: ah well
Lololol lodolo has no controlo. Yo
Groan
I’m here all day. You’re welcome
Love the two out rbi, run scoring from first base. Hype play in a seemingly low leverage spot
I like David Bote. And not because of that grandslam. Fight me.
Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!
>your mom was a slut and dad was a drunk Accurate :|
Oof. Damn, I don't wanna fight you anymore. Would you like a hug?
Nelly V!
Nice Velazquez
Velazquez!
Jane Lynch threw the first pitch today? Rad
A little sad to see MVP Quiroz is not in the lineup. Here for a good time, not a long time I guess 😔✊
Might be because he bats left.
Makes sense. Lodolo demolishes lefties, doesn't he? Hope to see my hispanic leprechaun again though! 😂
Yeah I think they said around a .100 batting average for lefties against him
Maybe the catcher shouldn’t even move their glove from middle middle. Just let the ball go whizzing to the backstop, strikes are called based on where the glove is
Happ DOES deserve a gold glove
Y do umps hate seiya
Half of his at bats are played under the rules five balls for a walk and two strikes for a strikeout
One day he’s gonna go off on an ump and it will be glorious
Would love to see Toy come out and translate for him
Haha yes
This lineup kinda fucks. I might have a couple quibbles but all in all I like it
Bote is pretty much my only quibble.
If I had to nitpick, I’d knock Velazquez (even with the dope triple lol), slide morel to center and Bote to second, then put Higgins at first. But with our current availabilities not bad at all
Its probably the best we've got at least lol
[These bastards are really out here making me almost as emotional about J-Hey as I was Rizzo et al.](https://twitter.com/Cubs/status/1576273237398331393)
Seeing all the thank you JHey posts from all the players on Instagram and getting emotional in public 😭
Football or baseball, football or baseball... two screens! Go Cubs! 🍻
Matt Mervis and PCA on the Marquee pre game show. Both well-spoken, sounds like their heads are on right. Excited for 2023. Edit: Mervis - "I like homeruns" lol
Mariners finally back in the post season. I live in Idaho so I’ll be rooting for them.
the cubs are officially back in october baseball after only 1 bad year
Here’s my upvote How long did you have this one in the chamber 😂
Yay us boo them
