Bcm, rainier arms, lantac, aero, psa

LittleLemonKenndy

Thank you

CallsOnTren

This guy really included PSA

DickVanSprinkles

It's a cult my man. Their rallying cry is "JUST AS GUUUUUUD"

CallsOnTren

Fucking poors. PSA is fine if you shoot 500 rounds a year. Theyre not duty rifles

SoundOf1HandClapping

I'm actually curious how the bolt carrier itself looks. I'm assuming a 5.56 bolt. What ammo were you using?

LittleLemonKenndy

The gas key took a couple nicks but is in working condition. Ammo I was using was .223 Norma.

SoundOf1HandClapping

Man, Norma's really dropped the ball this year. They were great in 2021. 2022, and all kinds of things are out of whack.

HappyCamper781

Why is everyone saying to buy a BCG when \*just\* the bolt failed? Unless there's pics of a failed carrier as well...

LittleLemonKenndy

No bolt carrier is legit ok will buy just a bolt, I did buy another BCG but I am going to keep a second BCG on hand.

a_big_house

Why buy a new one instead of notifying the manufacturer and getting it replaced?

LittleLemonKenndy

Huh idk I’ll definitely try though

deltakatsu

I like Toolcraft. I probably have 10,000 rounds through mine.

sirslouch

Toolcraft outsources their bolts. They only make carriers.

Tactical_Chemist

This is true, not sure why you're downvoted. Whoever they buy them from seems to make solid bolts though.

Tactical_Chemist

Mine works great as well.

biggestlime6381

Who made this one?

KnowTheName321

yeah let everyone know what to avoid. do the community a favor.

LittleLemonKenndy

MPI

biggestlime6381

Where did you get it? Mpi stands for magnetic particle inspected. It’s just a manufacturing standard.

LittleLemonKenndy

I’m not harping on it or anything. Also i got it off Calguns.

biggestlime6381

What did they tell you on Cal guns, How many rounds did you put through it

LittleLemonKenndy

Honestly it said as new, and I’m at least at 2k at this point or 2.4k at this point

biggestlime6381

Just said it was a new NO NAME BCG?

LittleLemonKenndy

Shit you know what I’m not sure but the bolt itself was MPI

biggestlime6381

Maybe scroll back in your messages in cal guns? This is a really early failure for an AR bolt.

LittleLemonKenndy

Yes!

baconatorX

MPI is not a company name. Every bolt that gets magnetic particle inspection has MPI laser engraved into the side of it. It's an inspection quality control process, not a company. This is the second time it's been explained to you bro.

LittleLemonKenndy

Was it!? Lol sorry I must of missed that or had something happening when I commented I’ll be more careful but I don’t have the manufacture name and I bought it months ago I’d have to look.

Prize_Set3251

BCM, Scionics NP3, SOLGW, Aero (PRO bolt)

Historical-Hat-1959

How many rounds through it.

LittleLemonKenndy

I put 2k but idk I never seen that before.

DickVanSprinkles

That's the most common failure point of a bolt. There is a giant hole in the middle, structurally it's by far the weakest part.

LittleLemonKenndy

Precisely

Gen-XOldGuy

I suggest getting a 158 Carpenter bolt instead of the 9310 like the one that just failed on you. Yeah yeah, 9310 is stronger if treated correctly but that is a big if. Check out Colt, DD or BCM bolts for around $70-80 (no need for the entire BCG if the other parts are fine).

Brad331

Would have been funny if the gun part came in the back to school sale box

daewon_ton

Let me guess… shooting Norma?

LittleLemonKenndy

Yea :D

Gatecrasher

http://www.kearms.com/bolt-carrier-groups-category HMB bolts are reinforced to avoid this. They use a blind-hole for cam pin rather than through-hole.

EliMinivan

Aero

Taminator1776

Buy a LMT E-Bolt. Be a man

LittleLemonKenndy

Haha you didn’t have to tell it like it is, also they is sold out :(

A14

What ever you get, I would buy 2 BCG. In case you break the other one you have one spare ready to go as a back up.

LittleLemonKenndy

Seriously considering that now more than anything.

GuitRWailinNinja

Firearms unknown makes BCG. I’ve only ever used them and they claim to have a lifetime warranty for as long as they’re in biz. Granted I haven’t shot much since rounds are so pricey.

TitanSlug

Check out the chrome HMB bolt on the KE Arms website.

CapitalFlatulence

I've had a nickel boron Fail Zero bcg for the past few years and it's been absolutely great.

LittleLemonKenndy

That’s actually what I ended up going with.

CapitalFlatulence

Nice, I have a few thousand rounds on mine and it looks almost new when I wipe it off(which is way easier with this coating than many others). Reliability has been fantastic. The only problem I've ever encountered has been carbon build up on the back of the bolt but that's just because of how much I shoot that gun(and probably the powder I reload with). It hadn't created any functional change and I didn't even notice it until I took the bcg apart.

a_big_house

Failzero = fail often. Contact the manufacturer of your bolt and the manufacturer of your ammo and arrange for them to replace. If you want a reputable brand group as a backup, look for azimuth or microbest

arfarf15

Fail zero makes shit bcgs. They couldn't get the coating thickness right on the gas key in the one I bought, so it would lock up on the gas tube in battery and need to be pried out. Contacted them and crickets. Check out school of the American rifle's review on them on YouTube. While I think he probably goes overboard in the inspections and not everything matters, it's still not a great look for failzero. I swapped the gas key on mine with a regular non coated one and it cycles now. I'll run it till it dies, but I'm not using it for anything serious.

CallsOnTren

Solgw or bcm

HappyCamper781

Ahhhh the basic Chineseium Bolt.... strip it for parts, like the extractor, and any springs or spacers. Also hope the firing pin made it out ok.

LittleLemonKenndy

Firing pin and others, were legit ok.
