I loved the shimmer and the way it flowed around Kate. It looked so fluid almost like Kate was floating. As u/96puppylover pointed out, the dress has a gradient effect which adds to the illusion or floating effect when Kate moves. And the way the dress has rhinestones attached, the light reflects off these and it makes the dress so sparkly and shimmery.
Additionally, because Lady D's house has a lot of earth tones and warm pinks in the decor, the almost cool teal/cerulean colour is a striking contrast to the background. Especially compared to all the muted colours everyone else was wearing. I loved this look!😍
I noticed there are a lot of scenes where the decor is pink and everyone else is wearing warm shades, and then Kate is wearing brilliant blue, which really makes her stand out from the background and everyone else. One example of that is the scene when they visit the queen to discuss Anthony and Edwina's wedding.
Agreed! It is also an indication that she's an outsider and doesn't conform to the ton's rules. Afterall Anthony had never met anyone like her....
*Why would she fit in when she was born to stand out*
I always thought that Kate wore lots of blue so we would connect her with the Bridgertons who always wore a lot of blue too. I'm not saying she consciously did that but that we would see her as a part of the Bridgerton family.
Hmm, never considered it too hard. What do you think the deeper shades meant then? That she would bring Anthony back to what Edmund and Violet defined real love to be, not a pale imitation of it (literally and figuratively?).
I think the brighter, more vivid shades are meant to convey confidence. For the first ball, she wore a light blue dress, but she wore a dark teal cloak when she went riding alone when she first meets the viscount
that’s a great observation i forgot that each family has a color scheme. When I say Kate in blue it seemed more like a contrast between her and Edwina who is usually in light pinks. Edwina is young bubble and naive so pink adds to the character design, while Kate is more mature (at the ripe age of six and twenty) and she has a cold and wise demeanor so the dark blues match more. Also Simone looks absolutely stunning in blues and purples!!
Yes, loved this look. Seems like there are two layers - the underneath fabric is more satiny finish with a sheer overlay. I think there are small pieces of circular mirrors sewn in. In India, we used to have dresses with mirrors sewn in.
Great way to incorporate Indian textiles and fashion. And yeah even I think it has two layers a silk or satin layer and a sheer overlay fabric I am guessing is an organza or tulle?
You are right, the bottom layer is most likely silk. The overlay fabric could be tulle. Organza tends to be a little stiff, tulle is more flowy. In fact it has more flow than chiffon as well. Also the modiste mentioned tulle a few times. Oh, how I would love to get my hands on some of these extravagant dresses? 😊
This dress was so so gorgeous. She just seemed to get more stunning episode by episode. This and the orange at the Featherington ball was my favourite. Anthony is one lucky man.
It was cool to see the transformation of Kate letting her hair down more and showing more skin as the season progressed and she became more comfortable with being herself.
I love it too especially for this reason. It's minimally fussy, no heavy detailing or patterns. The cut and silhouette are actually quite simple, but simply placing rhinestones made it so sparkly and glamorous. The dress is just like Kate, simple yet effortlessly beautiful!
It was a welcome change. Although to be fair, the show had no chance of convincing anyone that this goddess is insecure bout her looks because people overlook her. She's as radiant as a thousand suns!
And before you ask.... yes, I am completely blown away by Simone Ashley and Kate😁
holy cow i thought the opposite i thought book Kate was way more secure yes she was aware of sister E beauty but it did not dominate her. For me show kate went too far making her a martyr for a family that clearly did not have any sensitivity for her feelings or that she may even have feelings. They created an image of a woman who did not believe she deserved to be loved. She had not interactions to add dimension to her character other than arguing w A. She started to look alone and pitiful. REALLY this gorgeous woman ONLY Anthony would have feelings for her? And it took him til the last 10 min of the show to treat her anywhere near how she deserved.
The writers did a bad job but I find Kate seem more secure in the show she spend the majority of book to claim she's not beautiful unlike Edwina even during her wedding night with Anthony she really believe he fantasize about her little sister
I also think this is why the show took the library scene and changed it. The library scene was my favorite, and truthfully the only redeeming part of the whole book, but I don't think they could take the strong person they created in show Kate and have her have this crippling fear too. I wouldn't work for the character they made her which I think is why they changed it.
Yes but to me it did not dominate her. Kate show had SO LITTLE personality other than to argue w A. In book Anthony is singing her praises constantly. I found it quite humorous how he would talk about E being the one he should want but that he wants Kate. He never even thought of anyone else! After book Kate asked about her looks to A that was put to rest. The book end where at his 39 birthday they are playing their instruments together badly that was love. I think the show went toooo far making Kate think so little of herself that she did not deserve love. And way way way too much Edwina. O it is called the EDWINA SHOW rightttttt???? The chemistry between A and K was otherworldly but I think they ruined it in this story
In the book Anthony was gross and wanted to hit Kate several times, he kicked her in the stomach when she was hiding in the library, force their first kiss for punish her , throwing the library key at her feet for humiliate her He changed his awful behavior after the wedding
He changed right after that awful incident. I agree i have just now read 2 of the Quinn books first the Viscount book trying to understand why S2 made me feel so bad and then the Benedict one. The sex as written in these books is pretty crude and forceful and there is violence in both so am a little perplexed why this is so popular with my fair sex. But getting beyond that, book Anthony sang her praises and again the end where at his 39 birthday they are playing their instruments together badly that is love. The next comment says he was a complete dick—yeah show anthony was a dick when he proposed to edwina, when he told Kate nothing happened in the library, when he told edwina Kate was a thorn that would fade, when he was with Kate in the closet telling her to tell edwina to go thru w the wedding then trying to hold her hand, going ahead w the scheme by violet and LD to keep distance. At least you have sufficient interaction in the book to see that he loves Kate more than life itself. Both confess their inner most vulnerabilities. What did we get in the show? 10 min of Anthony finally loving her after 7 episodes wayyy too little wayyy toooo late. If u want to say they are both dicks i guess ok but book anthony showed his love for Kate by words and deeds I did not see any scene where show anthony does.
This colour looks so elegant on her, and the shimmer + gradient is so pretty on her frame! This dress, the peacock design dress, the purple bridgerton ball dress, and the orange featherington ball dress were my favourite looks
I loved all your picks as well. Fact is I loved all her gowns and it's difficult to pick a fav. But despite some gorgeous choices, this one stood out for some reason. Maybe because she became the bane of Anthony's existence😁
It's definitely my top 3. It doesn't get so much love because it gets overshadowed by some other glamorous gowns. But the simplicity of it stands out because its impossible to hide any flaws behind design or detailing. it's utter perfection.
Yes!! I wish I knew how to make gifs but alas I do not, also how do folks download high quality versions of the episodes in order to do this? I am in awe and just appreciative of their efforts.
I think Simone Ashley said this was her favourite gown and I was a bit bummed bcos I love the pink one where she and Anthony dance for the first time but when I rewatched i totallly got ittt the way it moved was amazing 🤩 very underrated
Right! The simplicity of the gown, hardly any patterns or detailing. Only rhinestones have been added. The way it moves.
I love this gown because when a gown is that simple all flaws gets enhanced. But this look was flawless. And I found it so true to Kate's journey, both Kate and Anthony admitted their pull in this scene, there was no hiding behind fake anger and annoyance for them anymore...
I think this one is my second favorite dress of hers! Her epilogue dress being my fave. Although her purple dress with the teal coat is a very close second as well.
Isn't she stunning? This is one outfit i never forget. It looks regal, romantic and she reminds me of a 'jasmine' type disney princess. Her hair is off her face but looser, some tendrils have come free too. Her make up is smokey and sultry giving her a sensual look too. And makes her doe eyes more prominent. The extra touch with the tiny diamonds in the dress that catch the light.😍 And notice her bust is lower. This is reflecting kate changing due to her desire/love for anthony. And anthony ends up giving her a panty melting horny poetic monologue while she looks like that. 👏🔥That sort of aquamarine colour makes kate's skin pop too.
Kate's fashion really stood out to me. They incorporated an 'indian' sorta flair into her costumes with more vibrant/exotic colours. I loved what they chose for kate because she really stood out in the 'ton' with this outfit along with her 2nd pall mall violet dress, her hunting outfit, the E7 promenade look with the dark purple slinky dress and the cute mixed blue/purple bolero jacket, the gorgeous pink/purple hued dress with the net short sleeves she wore to the museum in the same episode (anthony smells her) her romantic lilac bridesmaid dress and her sexy modernesque lingerie she wore in the gazebo scene. Her fashion lightened up, got slinkier and she ended up in a multitude of lilacs/purples/violets to represent romantic/first love just as daphne said to violet with the flower arrangements at aubury hall. It was to show not only was kate losing control of her emotions but was feeling more sensual and wanting desire/love with anthony. 👏🤓 and another underrated look was that cute and soft sky blue dress she wore meeting anthony after the bee sting. She had a cute flower clip in her hair too. 💜
As a florist I so love this! The costumers are using color theory to make her naturally glow. The costumers are making such exquisite choices, though I think they are being far kinder to Penelope than Lady Featherington is in the books.
She has looked so stunning in those soft pinks and that pale apricot as she (episode spoiler) >!Burns her quill after having to write such horrible about Eloise.!<
I just can’t wait until (book spoiler) >!She gets to wear her favorite green dresses when she becomes a spinster!<
I love the shimmer too. I think we saw her in a range of shades og blue-green and purples along with the pink and a couple of yellow/oranges. I guess rhe purples were so striking that the other dresses often get overshadowed...
Very unpopular opinion, but this was one of my least favorites of the season. It fits on her beautifully and the color is beautiful, but I didn’t think it stood out. I kind of think they overused this color (not sure what you would call it exactly) in Kate’s wardrobe (same color as her riding and hunting outfit, her dress at the races, the dress when she arrives at Aubrey Hall, her dress at the palace, the dress in the gardens, and this one were ALL this shade of blue/green) so it had less impact when she wore this one later in the season. And while I love the cut and neckline/sleeves, I actually thought the ombré and rhinestones were a little too modern. They immediately reminded me of dresses I’d buy at the mall to wear to my school dances growing up. I know the show isn’t realistic or accurate, but I still like the dresses that don’t immediately make me think of modern wear. That said, the costume designers are amazingly talented and SA looked gorgeous in every frame!
Simone does look gorgeous in it.
Tbf, all of Kate's dresses were in the blue/purple pallette, all of Edwina's are in the pink/peach pallette and all of Mary's are in the mauve/pink pallette. So they chose specific colours for their characters. I think this gown is striking because it's so simple, no added details or embellishments other than the sparkle. The simplicity of it is what stood out to me, the colour and fall.of the gown is all there really is to it. And I found it lovely.
I know! I remember all the craze for the other dresses which were beautiful but this one just caught my attention and I couldn't place why I was so drawn to it. I believe I just live the simplicity of the gown and the way the colour pops against Simone's skin.

I prefer her blues to any other color she wears. She’s simply beautiful in them.
Yes, same! Kate Sharma in blue makes me feel some type of way
I always thought that Kate wore lots of blue so we would connect her with the Bridgertons who always wore a lot of blue too. I'm not saying she consciously did that but that we would see her as a part of the Bridgerton family.

So would I!😊
This dress was so so gorgeous. She just seemed to get more stunning episode by episode. This and the orange at the Featherington ball was my favourite. Anthony is one lucky man.
Indeed he is. He gets to see this beautiful woman everyday for the rest of his life!
According to the costume designer and Simone, Kate consciously took more care and pride in her appearance as the season went on!
It was cool to see the transformation of Kate letting her hair down more and showing more skin as the season progressed and she became more comfortable with being herself.
Those were my two favourite dresses also
The perfect gown to wear to get a man to confess you’re the bane of his existence and the object of all his desires 😏
Absolutely!😁 No wonder Anthony went feral and ripped the Sheffields a new one.
Haha 😂 loved him for that!
I loved him for it too. I loved that her mother and the man she loves stood up for her! And he also defends her deceased parents!
I wish there were more honorable, whipped men like Anthony Bridgerton in real life 😌. Wishful thinking!!
I wiah for the same 😔
i wish a guy would say that to me..
Alot of Kate's gowns were stunning....it made her different and standout amongst the ton. Especially when she is in hiding
Right? She's so stunning and the colours she wore were so striking and complimented her so beautifully.
Mixed with her natural beauty
Definitely. The dress only enhanced her beauty😍
Tbh I would've loved to see Kate or Edwina in a saree atleast once, nevertheless Indian textiles representation was strong throughout the season.
Maybe in future seasons? Who knows?😊 Never say never!
Fingers crossed 🤞😄
This dress is absolutely beautiful. I love the sparkle and the color.
I love it too especially for this reason. It's minimally fussy, no heavy detailing or patterns. The cut and silhouette are actually quite simple, but simply placing rhinestones made it so sparkly and glamorous. The dress is just like Kate, simple yet effortlessly beautiful!
I agree with all of this. You are right that it’s the simplicity that makes it that much more stunning.
😍
Yes and that fabric and ombre effect is so pretty already, adding too much detail would have taken away from the flowy-ness and overall effect.
Agreed. The dress doesn't need a lot of embellishments its already beautiful!
I never noticed the ombré before. Stunning!
I hadn't either. u/96puppylover pointed it out in another post and I was floored!😍
I love this blue dress too Kate is so pretty
She is! The colour is stunning against her skin. And with the lighting, she's as beautiful as a starry night!
I'm happy too her that gorgeous and fierce on the show while she seem very insecure in the book and not have any control on Anthony
It was a welcome change. Although to be fair, the show had no chance of convincing anyone that this goddess is insecure bout her looks because people overlook her. She's as radiant as a thousand suns! And before you ask.... yes, I am completely blown away by Simone Ashley and Kate😁

She looks amazing in teal. That’s my favorite outfit together with the one she wears in the poster
She looked stunning in the blues and purples!
For sure!
Agreed! All her teal/blue looks are my favorites.
Can we do this for all her costumes/hairstyles/make up? I am loving these posts. 💜👏
Yes!! I wish I knew how to make gifs but alas I do not, also how do folks download high quality versions of the episodes in order to do this? I am in awe and just appreciative of their efforts.
I love this dress and also adored her hunting outfit. Such a powerful dress and the hat was perfect addition 😍 very strong and dominant 🥵
She definitely made a statement with that gown!
Yes agree! 😁
I think Simone Ashley said this was her favourite gown and I was a bit bummed bcos I love the pink one where she and Anthony dance for the first time but when I rewatched i totallly got ittt the way it moved was amazing 🤩 very underrated

She actually said her favorite is the [peacock blue gown she wears to the palace](https://youtu.be/lD2l6aST6B4) 5 minutes in
That peacock-blue is so beautiful on her!
Absolutely stunning!
I think this one is my second favorite dress of hers! Her epilogue dress being my fave. Although her purple dress with the teal coat is a very close second as well.
You know as more people talknof their favourites my list keeps getting amended. 😁 But this one remains solid in my top 5.
Aaahhh the epilogue dress is so stunning too!!! I literally cannot choose a favorite. Her looks are all so 🔥
I want one!
Me too! The colour! And the shimmer!
This would be a good time for Oprah to rock up and play fairy godmother. "You get a Kate dress, you get a Kate dress, everybody gets a Kate dress!"🤣🤣
Yes please! Oprah if you're seeing this, we would welcome your intervention...
It's sooooo pretty! Absolutely one of my favourites.
I am so happy so many other people like it too😍
It’s my fave outfit of the season
Yaay. High five my friend ✋️
It’s up there with the one on the lake and the queen visit Ep 5 just has the best
Yasss. The lake dress is another underrated one! The Spencer jacket especially was lovely! And the queen visit one is just my all time favorite!
Episodes 4 and 5 have the best outfits for Kate I think
Don't forget 7! The promenade gown, the museum gown and the Bridgerton Ball gown...shades of purple!
Yeah if episode 5 was teal…episode 7 was Purple
Right?😊
She pops with teal color. So pretty
Agreed! Teal is definitely her colour!
My favorite Kate look.
Yess. Stunning look😍
It was one of my fave looks of hers. The sparkles looked like stars.
Totally. Like a starry night sky!
I love this dresss😭😭
Stunning!
My absolute fav dress she wore!
Yaay. So glad so many of us are appreciating it!
Also her jewellery in this look is very pretty and nicely complements her dress.
Agreed. The entire look is quite simple and minimalistic. I think this is entirely Kate with the dress and jewellery just enhancing her beauty.😍
This one was my absolute favorite too!
It's gorgeous!😍
Historic cut with modern fabric. Love to see it.
It's so elegant yet chic😍
Isn't she stunning? This is one outfit i never forget. It looks regal, romantic and she reminds me of a 'jasmine' type disney princess. Her hair is off her face but looser, some tendrils have come free too. Her make up is smokey and sultry giving her a sensual look too. And makes her doe eyes more prominent. 💜
I think this was my favorite!
😍 It is lovely!
She looks amazing in jewel tones
Yes. Jewel tones are lovely on her!
One of my favourite Kate Sharma outfits, and she looked gorgeous. The makeup was perfect too.
Agreed. Everything about this look was perfect!
The color gradient in this dress is so subtle and yet striking
It's very subtle, I missed it the firat few times I saw it. But that makes it all the more beautiful!
I love this color on her. More than 💜 or 🧡
It's definitely a striking colour on her!
Literally so perfect
😍
Okay but we speak about how beautiful her skin is though( sounds weird) but it made the outfits better.
As a florist I so love this! The costumers are using color theory to make her naturally glow. The costumers are making such exquisite choices, though I think they are being far kinder to Penelope than Lady Featherington is in the books. She has looked so stunning in those soft pinks and that pale apricot as she (episode spoiler) >!Burns her quill after having to write such horrible about Eloise.!< I just can’t wait until (book spoiler) >!She gets to wear her favorite green dresses when she becomes a spinster!<
The costume department definitely did a stellar job.
all the gowns her and the little sister wear in the show look so good on their skin tone.
Agreed. The colours chosen for all three Sharmas were excellent.
Yes so shimmery! And was glad to see her not in purple yet again <_<
I love the shimmer too. I think we saw her in a range of shades og blue-green and purples along with the pink and a couple of yellow/oranges. I guess rhe purples were so striking that the other dresses often get overshadowed...

Dude this is literally my favorite one
