So remember in the penultimate episode just before sexy time when Anthony says Kate’s smell has been imprinted on his mind since the first ball? I rewatched the scene where she lays into him outside the conservatory in the first episode, and as she approaches him, Anthony does a little double take like he’s just caught a whiff of something. It’s really good. JB has ruined all other romantic heroes ever. None will ever, ever match this performance.

hearts182

I feel like the line "JB has ruined all other romantic heroes ever" needs to be its own discussion because I have essays I could write about this. It almost makes me mad that I have to watch my beloved Colin and Benedict going through their season without half the pure depth and understanding of what it means to be a "romantic male lead written by women for women". And I know I'll be disappointed because JB mastered it and nothing will ever reach that level.

Alarming_Smoke_8841

I know hahah. Like I’m gonna be open minded and be supportive but they have such big shoes to fill. I wonder if they feel intimidated 😬 sorry, guys!

CA_catwhispurr

Maybe they’ve learned something from their “big brother”?

[deleted]

He really has ruined them all. He set the bar so high. I just want to see him in other Romances, though he will always be Anthony Bridgerton for me.

Alarming_Smoke_8841

omg does he?? I need to rewatch, thank you, kind soil

dunrah

Oh yes he does. BIG TIME.

nylabk

I tried to rewatch it but I can’t catch it. Do you remember the minute mark? 😫

dunrah

I just checked and it’s from 38.02. It’s as Kate leans in closer to Anthony as she says ‘Viscount Bridgerton, yes?’ He blinks a few times and I think that’s a depiction of him catching her scent 🥵

nylabk

Oh lordddd. Thank you!

doctoremdee

Soul* Soil is dirt for plants 😉

Alarming_Smoke_8841

haha, yes :P was too excited at the discovery to reread my comment

doctoremdee

I completely understand haha

[deleted]

ouhh, I thought it was a "wtf is wrong with my horse-riding?" face

dunrah

Haha, he definitely does that too! It’s before that bit when Kate’s having a go at home.

dunrah

I meant him, not home!

mishney

I didn’t notice right away how tense and angry he is when Lady Mary admits in the museum that she left Kate to take care of things after her husband (and importantly, Kate’s father!) passed away. Obviously he knew Kate had taken on responsibility for her sister but I think this is when he sees the full picture. I love the idea of him feeling upset on her behalf and the even greater respect and love and understanding he has for her then. I honestly think this is when he decided to marry her and not after hooking up (which is why he said he didn’t want it to happen that way, I think he wanted the smoke to clear more and then he would propose).

MrsNovelista

For me, Anthony learning this, then later at Lady D’s house when Violet said that their plan of keeping Anthony and Kate apart leaves Anthony “with no one to marry,” also made him realize he’d rather not marry anyone if he can’t have Kate.

mishney

Yes! I didn't pick up on that the first time but then on a rewatch realized the same. Loved that he went from marrying anyone NOT for love to NOT marrying anyone if he couldn't marry his love.

Alarming_Smoke_8841

😭😭😭😭

MrsNovelista

Kate and Anthony are like “all or nothing” but to their own detriment

Alarming_Smoke_8841

Yes yes yessss. That part gets me when he finally realizes she had the similar burdens and was carrying the weight of the world/her family like he was. I do wish we’d gotten a convo earlier, like in the library scene, to highlight that further for Anthony, tho I guess there were a few lines here and there but it didn’t seem to *click* for him until that museum scene. And when he approaches her to talk about the kiss — he’s so lovestruck!!! 😭😭😭🥰🥰

[deleted]

which is why he has to go and speak to her right after (the scene where he hides behind the statue while speaking to her) although they were explicitly told to stay away from each other

SignificantNectarine

This is a good catch!!

sahkovalo

When they’re hunting and Anthony shows Kate how to hold a British gun, he ”accidentally” brushes Kate’s bosom, when adjusting the gun. Goddamnit. Be still my heart. When I once noticed it I’m never going to unnotice it. There’s definitely a lot lingering hand stuff too, that I noticed only after couple of watches.

JoyinFriends

Ohhh the hand thing in the gun scene I didn’t notice. It’s a full grab even

CA_catwhispurr

Yes the hand touches were sensual but also when his face gets so close to hers. Such a beautiful scene!

Bintijua49

do u think that was actual or just incidental or accidental in the scene

JoyinFriends

Purposeful - whether it was Jonnys choice (which - I don't think it would be to touch his co star without consent) or in the script, I don't think a lot happens that isn't by the actor or script choice on this show. Down to the small details.

[deleted]

even the actor who plays Simon says that it's so choreographed, it's almost like a dance scene...

sahkovalo

Yeah, I don’t think it’s accidental at all. They went through these with intimacy coordinator. It’s not neccessarily scripted, but I don’t think it’s improvised on camera either. But I absolutely love how detailed the show is!

mackenzie013_02

Ohhh I didn’t notice that… time to rewatch from the beginning 🤣

Alarming_Smoke_8841

He what? Brb 👀

dezayek

Anthony is the only man not wearing gloves in the scenes where he dances with Kate. Not sure why I grabbed that one. The little cut off "you" when she says she loves him back, like he can't believe it. The fact that I am still unsure the level of intimacy they had in the gazebo. I thought it was one thing on my first watch, now I'm not sure. Anthony's exasperated expression when he talks to Kate after the Sheffield dinner and she is trying to push him to the wedding. The also exasperated expression when he goes to propose to Kate the morning after the gazebo and finds out a horse is missing.

charlotie77

I think it was just oral sex, because in interviews Simone, Jonny, and the intimacy coordinator Liszt Talbot all talk about how Anthony wanted to give Kate pleasure and how the scene focuses on pleasure for a woman specifically

Prize_Ad_199

Idk. In the flashback therebis a scene where Anthony is completely naked kissing down her body so...it may have further than just oral

dezayek

I thought his pants were on the whole time?

shadowbear9

After the families dance in Harmony, once the dance is over, Kate and Anthony are holding hands for a hot second, and it looked like they didn't want to let go.

moonbeam_knight

Yeah! I caught that in the first watch but since no one talks about it and haven’t seen any gifs on it, I thought I was imagining things lol.

shadowbear9

Good eye! I must have blinked cause I didn't see it until my third rewatch 😆

SignificantNectarine

It’s easier to spot if you’re watching it at 0.75x!

DifferentManagement1

He caresses her finger

Clutsy_Naive

When they're hunting she steps over a branch by lifting her dress and you see her skin above her sock and he notices it too and he ends the talk with her because he got too horny.

waterhouse78

At the end of the Danbury soirée, when Kate renters the room, Anthony looks at her and has a smug look on his face. Anthony then looks sad when he realises other men are talking to Kate.
