Very talented fighter, he'd be dangerous if he had the ability to be honest with himself.
Of course his best years are in front of him. Lopez is only 25 and has just 17 bouts. There's still a lot for him to learn and accomplish.
He's fought in one division and got lit up by a smaller guy...Don't know why this guy is campaigning so hard at 140 like it's some big deal.
Lopez is moving on. He's got a long career still ahead of him. I'm sure that he'll be in the welterweight picture within 2 years. Didn't have a good night against Kambosos but that's boxing. Learn from it. Lopez still has a bright future.
I get why people don't like Teo's personality but the amount of people in here completely writing him off is pathetic.
Fans complain about people protecting their 0 and not challenging themselves - people like you are precisely why. The guy lost one fight, after a year out of the ring and nearly died trying to make weight and now he's apparently ducking anyone good at 135 (like he didn't beat the consensus number 1 and P4P king in his 16th pro fight) and writing off his chances at 140.
Pathetic, the lot of you. Kid is an immense talent and an exciting fighter. Hopefully he matures and manages the bad influence of his father better.
Pshhh once that cherry gets popped you aint shit. Every keyboard warrior knows that...
Lol u actually believe all that shit is really funny. He almost died making weight. 🤣 U can have all the talent in the world but if u got no heart nobody is gonna care. This man could tell u the sky turned purple and it distracted him and that's why he lost and you'd believe it.
I’m in the camp that he made an excuses but the rest this dude above typed is spot on. Teofimo is what boxing needs, has a big mouth but is entertaining and most importantly dares to challenge himself at 24/25 yrs old and cut all that bs fighters/promoters pull.
You should expect this pathetic behavior from hurt Lomasexuals
You know what is pathetic? Teo fighting a man that is ranked #62 in the world. I could see him taking an easy fight after getting his ass whopped, say anyone in the top 20? but come on, #62 . Now that is pathetic!
His first fight at 140 coming off the back of serious health issues. Teo is not somebody who shirks away from big fights.
Yeah right. #62
This isn’t even the worse I’ve seen, Danny Garcia fought Rod Salka after a tough fight against a journeyman in Herrera. This actually isn’t as bad compared to precedent laid before him
He's no even cleaned out lightweight.
He beat the number 1 lightweight tho
And immediately lost. He didn't clean out shit
He beat the man at lightweight. None of the other pups wanted to or have they fought loma
And he immediately lost. Doesn't mean he cleaned out the division does it?
I agree he didn't but beat Loma.
Well Loma doesn’t wanna fight Haney
Bruh stop drinking the Kool aid
I misread the title as 160 and was scared for Teo's life
He's a talented fighter. I just think he'll have an up and down career because of his mental state, sadly. Sort of like Mike Tyson, but without the worldwide fame. Teo will probably end up broke and begging for gatekeeper fights for a payday. Tale as old as boxing.
Hopefully without going to prison for rape
let's hope not.
Tyson was a world beater in his first 37 fights though, and each of his fight was more akin to a public execution for the other fighter. Tyson also has a unique style and look about him that is perfectly built for commercial promotion, that is why you have a lot of video game character modeled after him. Everybody expected (before Douglas) that a Tyson’s fight would more than likely end in the first couple round, yet they still filled the stadium to see how much damage he could diss out.
Pretty much everything about Temofio Lopez aside from the Loma fight was average. Couple that with that fact that the guy seems devoid of charisma, with the only notable character trait being arrogance + his problematic father/trainer and most promoter would have a hard time making a money fight with him as the main headliner.
I was very impressed with the blowout of Richard Commey. More so than the Lomocenko fight. Fact is he barely scraped by Nakatani in the fight before that. I'm still not convinced he is what everyone thinks he is. Teo has been pretty inconsistent. Hopefully the future will be bright for the man.
Yeah, I didn't mean he was comparable to Mike Tyson in any way except as his career would have ups and downs, reach a top level and mentally fall apart.
Yeah, I see him as being the next gens Broner. Big time talent but kinda fucked in the head
I think he may have a career like Broner
Then he moves to 147 when all the Lightweights he didn't fight move to 140.
It's sad in a way that he's leaving lightweight... There were some fights that I think we would of all liked to have seen. It will be interesting to see how he fares moving up.
Honestly 140 pretty shallow right now
I remember when it had tzysu, hatton, Floyd, cotto, gatti, tackie, ndou, Judah, etc. or even years later with Bradley, Devon, Lucas, Maidana, khan, Garcia, Peterson, morales, etc..
140 ain’t shit now compared to that
GAR, Barboza, Matias, Zepeda, Pedraza, Ramirez, Taylor, Prograis is a decent shortlist. I don’t think Teó dominates anyone on that list if he can’t spark them out.
Interesting... and correct, hard to miss take: Teofimo was drained in the Kambosos fight.
Idiots that keep referring to that fight for any sort of prediction of what comes next for Teofimo, are well, that. IDIOTS. It's like saying DLH is a horrible WW based on the results of the Pacquiao fight. The dude wasnt himself. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to see that...
The fact is Teofimo is still a p4p talent thats about to make 140 very interesting. Remember, this kid was begging for a Loma fight in his early 20s. You know what Tank did when talks of a Loma fight came up in his early 20s? Nothing. They ignored it even though both fighters were in the same divisions for years.
Oh yeah, he spanked Loma like I said he would.
If you could forecast a fighters career solely based on talent and potential, I’d say he’s right. But I don’t think those are the things that are gonna hold him back
JT, Regis both smash him to pieces to be honest, was always overrated and if he rematches Loma he would have lost that too
Agree . He definetly loses to Taylor and Regis, even healthy loma would embarass the kid and im down to put quid on it
Y’all acting like this man didn’t dismantle Loma
After 12 it was a fairly close fight that Teo definitely won. Hardly say dismantle, it wasn’t on the level of like Haney Vs Linares or Shakur Vs Valdez. Those were fighters being dismantled
8-4 is very convincing...
A convincing win and dismantling someone is very different. An 8-4 fight can be competitive, this isn’t new to boxing…
Except this one wasnt. Teofimo swept the first 7. Almost unchallenged. Loma threw back and won a few but it was too little, too late. Then Lopez came out in the 12th ans made sure it wasnt close.
Facts. Lomasexuals are ridiculous
He’d lose against an inside fighter
Being a inside Fighter or Shorter fighter plays into Teo’s Strengths as a Fighter.
I don’t know if I’d agree with that, if you can get past that 1st layer he’s *very* uncomfortable engaging in any infight. I’d probably favour Ramiréz and Taylor for that very reason, experienced pressurises that have a system and aren’t working at a disadvantage physically.
Kambo already cleaned out ur reputation.
make your dad your hypeman instead of coach and you will
Subriel wax's him too
i LOVE subriel matias (i bought those big cheddar cheese trunks) matias is tailor made for teo's sharp right counters - namely the short hooks to the body and killer uppercut. this would be an amazing fight - though it's unlikely to ever happen - but i'd put my money on teo winning it.
If lopez comes in againts Matias as he did against kambo then hes gonna pay badly, gonna be even worse beating than against kambo
if teo comes in like that against campa he might get smoked. i'm betting that we're more likely to see the pre-kambosos teofimo lopez at 140.
Lets see , im excited , but i wont be surprised of campa isnt a pushover. Lopez was and probably still is struggling mentaly
