Benn - Eubank is a lot less physically disparate than i thought, at least in terms of reach and height:
Height 5ft 8in - 5ft 10in
Reach 68in - 72.5in
Yes eubank is a significantly heavier fighter but conor can build for this one. Im predicting a Benn upset. If you want to see some hype watch Vergil Ortiz take 7 rounds to get Vargas out of there whike Benn takes him out in the first.
Thinking about trying out a boxing gym nearby. Any first timer tips?
r/amateur_boxing is the right sub for this
anyone know about this card thats supposedly going on right now? my ESPN3 has it on its schedule but its not showing.
edit: found it on Latin American ESPN2. Detroit Brawl card Live
Lennox Lewis, always pure class
Fantasy fight RJJ vs GGG both in their primes who do y’all got
RJJ was both bigger and considerably more skilled. Gimme RJJ by 12 round slaughter
What's the consensus on Calzaghe VS GGG at 168?
I'm ***very*** low on Joe so gimme Golovkin
prime RJJ probably came at LHW, certainly not at 160. But I'd say probably Roy. That said even in his prime he had that habit of backing himself straight into the ropes and allowing his opponent to wail on him, which is immensely dangerous vs GGG. A good fight though and I would't be mad if someone picked GGG
Dunno if anyone caught the news on this but apparently MJ Akhmadaliev is out of action until the end of the year after sustaining a broken hand vs Ronny Rios, pretty much puts any chance of Fulton vs MJ out of the window until 2023.
Sucks for MJ
Boxing politics really sucks, but is Fulton a PBC fighter or is he like Ennis whose not really a PBC fighter, he just gets put on their a lot?
Edit: ok stupid comment Ennis isn't signed to PBC, but he has a multi-year deal with showtime. Fulton might be in a similar boat
PPV is dead. Eddie Hearn game changed. KSI vs Swarmz live on DAZN PPV.
According to the schedule on BLH they have TWO non-PPV (looks like just one for UK) fight on the schedule for the rest of 2022 as of right now. JoJo Diaz vs William Zepeda, on October 15th and Benn/Eubanks both two months away.
This is for a streaming service that charges $150 annually and has no other significant content. I am a member until May, I will not renew.
I canceled DAZN after 1st show Joshua vs Povetkin, not even kidding. I lasted a whole 1 show after the event. They feel like alittle kid show , showtime and HBO Boxing come off as real old school Boxing. DAzN some social media donkey crap.
In Canada we get a lot so Im going to keep it anyways, but its still annoying having to pay PPV + DAZN prices.
PPV is dead to putting on the worst PPV main event in the history of boxing (not gonna do any research to back that claim but surely it's true)
I'd love to get into boxing. I think id enjoy it. Who are the best boxers to follow these days and what leagues should I be looking at? thank you.
Boxing is easiest to follow if you just ignore the belts and promotions and follow the boxers instead. Theres 4 major belts and a lot of politics and nonsense that follow each one, so learning about the boxers and what fights are good is way better imo. As for boxers my favorites are Canelo, GGG, Usyk, Joshua, Fury, Lomachenko, Wilder, Garcia, Davis, Ortiz, Lopez (fights this weekend).
It's a bit different since there aren't any leagues (unlike mma, kickboxing, etc.). For an upcoming fight, you can't do much better than Usyk-Joshua on August 20, two of the best current heavyweights in a rematch of their fight from last year. Should be a pretty exciting fight.
Eubanks vs Benn is either career sabotage for Benn if he loses, they are both “Come forward” fighters but Chris is bigger and more experienced, he is far from washed up and he is 32 years YOUNG, or he pulls out the win and starts getting the real spotlight…thoughts?
Got a fight coming op end of this year date is not set. How do i build myself a killer cardio for 3 rounds of 2 minutes?
You will get better answers here: https://www.reddit.com/r/amateur_boxing
lots of light, medium, and hard sparring with 30 second breaks instead of minute long breaks.
You need to learn to be cool under pressure. Most of the cardio loss is from panicking in the ring.
Keep calculated etc. Maintain your breathing. Keep a relaxed posture
Warm up with like 5-10 minutes of skipping rope.
6, 2 minute rounds on the bag hard as hell with good form. Do that 6x. Repeat twice. The last 30 seconds you do 1s and 2s with high knees. Fast.
Within all of this you are going to do 3 runs each week that are about 4-6 miles. Good pace. Shadow box after you’re done for about 10 minutes and don’t half ass it.
Throw in some air dyne bike sprints. Like 15-30 seconds of all out motion for a couple of rounds… and 400m track sprints ( one lap ) a few times and you should be good. You can do those separately. Id find a way to work this all into a week. Worked for me when I wrestled and needed really good cardio. We would do more cardio volume in a day then lifting so we suffered some strength loss but could go matches and have some gas left in the tank.
running and high intensity interval training.
Pray for Conor Benn.
Just saw some highlights of Omar Alejandro Aguilar - fighting on the undercard for Navarette/Baez. Looks a proper talent, anyone know much more on him?
Promotion company fans <<<<
The UK now has the best fighters the country has ever had? Fifty years ago that might have been accurate but that islands carrying the heavyweight division
We're not doing so bad in the HW Division
Does anybody in the world wanna see Chisora fight Fury for a 3rd time, first 2 fights were shit on top of it. Chisoras chin is also cracked now, Fury loves fighting guys who’s chin clearly not the same or bad to begin with. Whytes chin was gone by Fury and now Chisora…he gets wobbled by random shit now but just ungodly tough. 0 reason this fight should happen. Give Otto Wallin a chance again if you gonna do that..the hood knows Fury scared of Otto.
First Chisora fight was fun but I agree with everything else
Chisora is way past it and taken a ungodly amount of damage in career. Fury would actually get a knockout again. I’d like to see Joyce Vs Fury cause his endurance and natural power. He’d lose all early rounds but might randomly break fury’s eye late in the fight lol. So many top 15 matchups and Fury has fought none of them besides Wilder and bum Whyte. Otto is fringe top 15 and that fight really could’ve gone either way.
The man just wants easy fights. Fighting people he's fought before. Don't get why he doesn't fight another top 15 who doesn't currently have any obligations. If he's calling out chisora to get him a payday then it's just a fix.
I’d rather see him fight 10 diff easy fights. Chisora just does nothing after seeing last 2 fights and how’s he looking now. Man looked awful vs Parker before Pulev who himself is what he is. Let him fight Thor if we doing fights like this for the laughs.
I had a custom oil paining Julio César Chávez painting done. Would you like to see it?
What fighters would be better if they trained under Floyd Mayweather Sr?
Floyd Mayweather Sr.
Any fighter who's aggressive by nature, so he can improve his defensive side but still be fun to watch
I have a question.
I see most people get annoyed of Keith Thurman as he's a trash talker and is inactive. They don't have much confidence in him as he's not as good as he used to be. So why do the same people love and support Adrien Broner so much? 🤔
I agree with both, but Broner isn't much better with fight dates. His last fight was a year and a half ago, the one before that was 2 years prior, etc etc.
I don't dislike either of them, I like them both. I think those types are people who are more let down by Thurman because he has genuine talent and ability that is being underutilized. Basically, he's underachieving.
So is Broner though. They're both in the same situation, in fact it's probably worse on Broner's side because he was shot since 2014. But the same people who bash on Thurman praise on Broner, acting like he still relevant and has a chance to make a comeback. It just doesn't make sense to bash the guy who is not as bad whilst getting excited over the worse fighter, that's all I'm saying. 🤷♂️ Wouldn't you agree?
i love and support both guys :)
How do you know it's the same people?
Because they are 😂
Source: trust me bro
Broner has the hood behind him
Does anyone know what's going on with Usyk-Joshua in the US? We're 11 days away and there's still no information on what platform it will be available on.
My pointless speculation: it will be on DAZN PPV and they are waiting to announce it until last minute because they know only hardcore US boxing fans care about it and they want to avoid the wider perception that DAZN is a service that has three PPVs in a month between this, KSI and GGG/Canelo for as long as they can.
Purely speculation, let's see how wrong I am. I can't imagine where else it would go in the United States. It's not going to be an independently promoted terrestrial PPV show, ESPN/Showtime aren't gonna show/buy it. DAZN is kind of it for them.
I guess it's either that or maybe it will available for purchase on Fite or something. I wouldn't really mind it being on PPV tbh. It's a huge event and it has a solid undercard. If it was *only* this level of fights that got the PPV treatment I'd be okay with it in general.
It's getting pretty ridiculous at this point.
Saudis are fucking this whole event up. It's absurd.
sitting here thinking how wild would a jake paul vs andrew tate press conference would go since they both love to talk
Andrew Tate is such a piece of shit I would actually be rooting hard for Jake. That says something
Same, In Tate's kickboxing matches he punches with his chin exposed. I'll imagine he'll have to work on his guard a little if the matchup happens
why are fans and boxers so offended by celebrities boxing? If Paul and Rahman had a cooking competition instead of Boxing I don't think Gordon Ramsay will throw his hands in the air and say they're disrespecting chefs or declare that food is dead
I don't really have that much issue with celebrity freak shows by themselves. I think they and real boxing can coexist, and that if just two or so of the hundred people who go in to watch a celebrity freak show stay and get interested in the "serious" part of the sport, that's a win.
But I can also see why people would take issue with two people who can hardly punch getting more views and more money than actually talented boxers.
I don’t think people will pay to watch a cooking competition between two people who can barely boil water. The only reason celebrity boxing gets the bad rap is because of how much money is being made
>The only reason celebrity boxing gets the bad rap is because of how much money is being made
is that why you're against celebrity boxing? them making money?
I don’t care and am currently enjoying JP’s journey as well as world champion level respected boxers
Watched Canelo vs Bivol for a second time to score it again.
Live on the night I had it 8-4 Bivol but this time I had it 10-2. Will have to give it a third watch.
I had it 9-3 Bivol on first viewing. I'm not gonna rewatch that one haha, too painful.
I had it scored Canelo TKO I'm the 3rd. Idk why they kept fighting.
each time i watch it, i keep finding more rounds to give to bivol. currently i score the fight 17 rounds to 1 in favor of the russian
You must be CJ Ross from the antiverse
