ooo what kind?? also dont need to ask me twice!!
aren't those just pancakes... I'm from Africa so pancakes are different here, it's always confused me. so what Americans call pancakes here we call flapjacks and we call those things in the picture pancakes. I always just thought that America just didn't have what we call pancakes. This was a very important message that I needed to write.
Yeah same here in the UK, this would just be a rolled up pancake lol.
I think that OP is just saying pancake but trying to be fancy, crêpe is the French word for pancake :)
No, in America what you would call flapjacks, we call pancakes, and what you call pancakes, we call crépes. Since we’re Americans we can’t just do what everyone else does, so we call pancakes crépes to differentiate between the more sugary and thick flapjack, and the thinner, more mild pancake.
I guarantee you that we don’t call thickish pancakes ‘flapjacks’, we call [this](https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/flapjacks_86993) a flapjack
Oh, I’ve always thought you called pancakes flapjacks, and that what I now realize are flapjacks are something entirely different
Flapjacks, I think, we would classify as a granola bar. We sometimes call pancakes flapjacks here, so I think my confusion was understandable.
wait hang on I am confused. I thought flapjacks and pancakes were the same. I have heard them both used before (pancakes are more common though.) and the post is a crepe
[This is what I call Pancakes/Flapjacks](https://www.eggs.ca/recipes/fluffy-pancakes)
[This is what I call crepes](https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/19037/dessert-crepes/)
I am from the southern US for context
Yeah, in America you would be right, but we’re different from the rest of the world because we have to be special and stand out. Their pancakes are our crépes, their flapjacks are basically high-brow granola, and to be frank I don’t know what they call pancakes anymore.
These look too thick to be crêpes though, they look more like what I'll call a British pancake. There is a small difference between the two. Fuck, I want pancakes now.
Someone has informed me that crepe is just what the yanks call pancakes
In Britain at least there is still a definite difference between pancakes and crepes though right?
Nah they’re used interchangeably
I’m British and I wouldn’t use them interchangeably. [This](https://imgur.com/gallery/jGMJFT0) is what I call them. Pancakes to me are a little bit thicker and crepes are the large ones made by flattening with a wooden block. Like seen [here](https://youtu.be/278ylLmcH7A). I imagine that there’s a blurred line between pancake and crepe and there are probably some examples that you could argue over! But that’s how I categorise them.
No, a pancake is thicker and the can be rhum or beer in crepes
I call what is in the picture a ’pancake’
Crèpes and Pancakes are essentially the same thing, but have different properties.
Crèpes are much thinner and are cooked using less batter and spun around a very flat, round pan
Pancakes are thicker and fluffier, and aren’t typically rolled up
the dough is not the same between a pancake and a crêpe
Crepes are basically thinner pancakes with filling inside
I'm from south america so basically half of what we have is from US, so this is a crepe wich is thiner than a pancake, a crepe is usually served in both salt and sweet recipes, while a pancake is thicker and is always sweet
There’s a difference between pancakes and crepes. 1.there cooked slightly differently 2. Crepes are usually folded and European pancakes aren’t 3.crepes are served with all sorts of foods from salmon and tomato to Nutella and marshmallow but USUALLY European pancakes are just served with syrup
Sources-my french friend Carter
Culinarily arts student here the different between a crape and a pancake is that when you make a pancake you use a leavening agent like baking powder to make the pancake rise so it’s fluffy. With a crape there is no leavening agent and you move the batter around the pan so it cuts coats the pan to make it really thin
:))) what's the filling?
Finally some good fucking food
