Freezethemoon

The Tarte Maneater after dark palette. Yes, it's beautiful, but at the end of the day, I have all of these mostly neutral shades already. And it only has 3 or 4 "pops" that just aren't particularly poppy. I keep coming back to look at it though. Just because a palette looks nice doesn't mean I have to own it.

OdeeSS

That Maneater palette would have been perfect when I was first learning making and loved warm neutrals, but also thougjt Tarte In Bloom was a lite boring. I'm good now, no appeal. :)

jenjenjen731

It is so beautiful and I love Tarte's formula!! But I just don’t need any new eyeshadow palette. Even if I grew a third eye and became a triclops overnight I would have enough eyeshadow for 20 years.

NoWomanNoFry

I feel like Tarte has really upped their game with their latest palettes.

blueneonsky

Devils advocate/ the textures are sooo nice

GlitteringHeart2929

I keep talking myself out of it. It looks nice but warm tones aren’t really my thing and I have the small black Maneater that I enjoy but the shimmers are meh-ish.

romantickitty

>Just because a palette looks nice doesn't mean I have to own it. For me, that's incentive to find dupes in my collection. I actually get a lot of inspiration from palettes with good color stories.

oktysm

Beauty adjacent, but add Kourtney’s Lemme gummy vitamins to the long list of Kardashian Jenner brands I won’t be buying.

[deleted]

Sephora just dropped another perfume sampler with a full size voucher. Normally I spring for those without a though… but this current one is more expensive than others I’ve bought and there’s nothing new in it. Pass.

PM_ME_BREAD_PICS_

I was just about to comment this. I love perfume but there's a lot of new releases and I'm a little tired of Chloe, Candy, and Valentino in all of them idk. I had my eye on two other sample sets but I need to save money lmao

[deleted]

Ugh. Valentino has been everywhere. I Valentindon’t need any more Voce Viva or Donna samples tyvm. The Clean one that’s $68 was quite nice, imo! A little more niche, but probably my favorite one they’ve released this year that I’ve nabbed. Having a gift card definitely helped 😅

tigershark72005

The Natasha Denona My Dream Palette. It’s too warm toned. It didn’t look like that in the promo photos. Also, many people reported that the palettes they had purchased from Sephora had a shade name that was misspelled (spontaneous / spontanoeus) and the shade names weren’t centered under the shadows. But on Natasha Denona’s website all the names are centered and spontaneous is spelled correctly so what’s that about? Where is the quality control? Should not happen for a $69 palette Also the new Danessa Myricks palette. I love multichromes, but it has too many greens/blues which I don’t find appealing.

Elysandre

I considered it but it sort of reminds me too much of Modern Renaissance and that one remains mostly unused on my stash. Glad to have my gut feeling reinforced!

unicorncheetah

Hi! I just watched a YT this morning where the person compared it to Modern Renaissance and Soft Glam. May be worth a watch for you. 😀

unicorncheetah

Hi! I bought the My Dreams palette. While it is lovely (I pre-ordered mine and it doesn't ha e any of the glitches), it is not as unique as I had thought looking at the pictures. It runs warmer than it looks online and is easily dupable.

Lili666999

Hourglass holiday face palettes. Initially (when I saw the packaging) I was intrigued. I really liked the Elephant one. However... I don't know who put those palettes together (meaning the selection of powders), but I don't find either of the 2 that are suitable for my skin tone worthwhile. The Elephant one has 2 very similar blushes (shades I already own 10x over), bronzer that would be too dark for me and a golden highlighter that would also be waaay too dark for me (I have a light olive neutral skintone btw). The Butterfly palette is however the most baffling... very dark blushes, no bronzer and 4 extremely similar pale, chalky powders/highlighters. The only palette that seems sensible is the Tiger, I think that one is cohesive... but I unfortunately can't make it work for me. Happy to see Hourglass launching something for darker skintones though.

montaraymattei

Truly don't get why they didn't do blushes/bronze/highlight/finishing powder for all 3. Tiger looks beautiful though.

Cara3980NYC

I saw them today and, as a pale vampire, was also confused by the Butterfly palette. It contains Ethereal Light, which is suitable for my skintone (but is a glitter bomb) and one highlighter that may work but the rest are all too dark and very warm. It's such an odd mishmash of products that seem to have been thrown in without a thought for who would be using it. Maybe I'm just too pale for it altogether but including Ethereal Light makes it seem like it's geared towards fair skintones.

Lili666999

I saw an influencer's review today (medium toned)... the 2 blushes from the Butterfly palette looked IDENTICAL when she applied them. She also mentioned they are highly pigmented (even though she is far from pale/fair, they applied quite prominently despite her being extra careful). It's a really odd selection.

Cara3980NYC

I stopped buying the HG pressed powders because they're so glittery. I have a full size Ethereal Light and the glitter isn't noticeable in the pan but it makes me look like a Twilight vampire when even lightly applied. I bought the Ghost edit blush quad and 3 out of 4 blushes were glitter bombs so I gave it to my 19 yr old niece, who likes sparkly cheeks. I love the Veil loose setting powder, the metallic strobe highlight trio (although I can only use the pink shade) and the Veil eye primer but I haven't had much luck with their best sellers.

Lili666999

I love their loose powder too, it's great for dry skin. I also have Dim infusion and Diffused heat blushes, both are lovely. I am kinda tempted by their cream eyeshadows, but wouldn't be willing to pay full price for them. I hear they cause a lot of fallout... but when I swatched them in store I went into "sooo pretty sparkly... I want it" mode 😂

Cara3980NYC

I bought the shade Smoke based upon it's description as a taupe shade but when it arrived, it was straight up warm golden bronze, which I can't wear as warm tones make me look sick. The other shades are all either warm toned (which always annoys me) or colors I won't wear like green or pink.

olivejuice-

I got a trio one year and while I’m obsessed with dim light (I’m so fair I use it as brown blush) the bronzer was orange and I always forget to highlight these days. But that little pan lasted me forever. If I saw it in store and liked all the colors they put in one I would buy it. But I know I won’t use them all :/

phantompath

I am so torn about the Hourglass holiday release too. I will be buying Tiger as a gift for a colleague who resigned, but that is about it. The shade selections don’t make sense to me, particularly for Butterfly. I miss the old layout which would have one large pan of ambient lighting powder down the left hand side, two blushes, a bronzer and a highlighter. It would make so much more sense to consistently use the same layout and create three versions for light, medium tan and deep skin tones. I also think they missed the opportunity with Tiger to create a bronzer for deeper skin.

[deleted]

Lmao. Literally just got the Elephant in PR. It’s alright… but not for fair/light people since everything ends up looking oxidized. The packaging is slippery and a pain in the ass to open. It’s ok… but I definitely wouldn’t have dropped $85 on it.

Lili666999

Thank you! I kinda feel bad complaining, since Hourglass was catering more or less exclusively to my skintone for years. It just doesn't make sense though, especially with the Butterfly palette.

salankapalanka

Drop the channel! I need new faces to watch!

Chadolf

have you considered that people buying darker shades for bronzers and contour actually help BIPOC since higher sales numbers mean the brand are encouraged to release more deeper shades in the future? in sweden where I live it is always the deeper shades that are on sale, I would assume because they don't sell as well. that is bad for the future of companies ordering all shades of a formula, not good.

montaraymattei

I'm low on perfume but trying to wait for the holiday sales for now. I was so tempted by the Hourglass palettes but no one would work quite right for me. Glad they extended the shade range though. I thought about Natasha Denona My Dream but in person it's much warmer than the promos looked. Which solidified for me that when I make the investment in a midi again I'll get Retro, but I'm on a makeup no buy until the end of the year.

Cara3980NYC

Retro is quite warm as well. I bought it because it seemed more neutral with a few cool toned pops but it pulls quite warm on me and I can only use maybe 4 or 5 shades. That said, I'm vampire pale with a cool undertone and warm tones make me look sick so I don't wear them.

HamartianManhunter

Still resisting the urge to get the ELF dupe of the CT Flawless Filter. I just don’t see myself using up that big bottle, and I’d hate for it to get all nasty and go to waste.

Kittyboop91

It’s not groundbreaking like I was expecting. I think you have to be careful with it or it can make your foundation slip. I haven’t had the best foundation days using it tbh.

AllTheStars07

I got it and barely use it. If I do, I only use it to highlight. I’d never use it up. I’m thinking of selling it honestly.

GlitteringHeart2929

Take a lighter liquid highlight and a hydrating primer with a light or white base, mix 1-2 drops of the highlighter and boom. 🤣

redwoods81

I do that with foundations I'm trying to use up, cocktailing skin tints.

tarulley

I bought it and while it's absolutely stunning. I have to use it sparingly. I find it makes my face look oily.

jenjenjen731

I keep thinking I want it but I'm oily enough already so I'd never use it as a mixer with my foundation or on its own. I have a mini Charlotte Tilbury and I haven't even used it all up yet.

kayekatbeauty

Anything from the new Natasha Denona collection. The new Tarte palette. It’s pretty but I have enough eyeshadows I need to use. I think it would make a great palette for someone who doesn’t have many palettes. Anything else from the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty sale.

Aware-Golf1482

After seeing several not so positive reviews, I’ve talked myself out of the new Patrick Ta foundation. The new Natasha Denona collection, Tarte or Too Faced holiday launches. Nomad has another palette coming though, and I already know I’m going to want it.

lelejz

Colourpop Harry Potter collection is a big no for most people here.. but ngl my hand is itching not to buy anything. The palette is beautiful and those highlighters.. gosh it’s just everything my teenage self would go crazy for. But I refuse to give jk any more of my money. I’ll just enjoy what I already have 😭

jenjenjen731

I hear you, I love the palette and wanted the Slytherin eyeliner because that green is my favorite color. But blegh.

hellogirlsandgays

i think if the colors of the eyeshadow palette were a little darker i’d be in the same situation as you tbh

spookymochi

Okay, is it me or does it seem like there’s a lack of Halloween release’s this year? It’s halfway though September and there’s been more news of winter Holiday releases, but I haven’t heard anything about fall releases (with the exception of Too Faced and that doesn’t interest me at all). I’m not huge on collabs, but I usually look forward to releases this time of year because Halloween is my favorite holiday (I know…I’m one of those people lol). Anyone else I follow outside of makeup has already dropped their Halloween stuff…but at least it’s good for my wallet if there’s nothing interesting this year? That said, I am not buying the new Danessa Myrick’s palette. I actually reeeeeally want it, but I should refrain from spending so much on a palette right now 😭. I still might get it in the future though for a special occasion splurge because it’s really beautiful…

Ok_Wind8690

I feel like there is a bit more halloween releases than last year but it's mostly indie and drugstore doing it. Which is a shame there is so much potential for Halloween releases(I'm probably biased because I love spooky season)

spookymochi

I know there’s been some indie stuff, but what drugstore brands have released collections? Maybe I’m out of the loop, but I haven’t really seen anything 😅. I think there’s time, but so far it seems like less to me than in previous years. Tbh I kind of expected more because Halloween has become a lot more popular recently. My best friend and I always do an annual shopping day for Fall and one thing that we noticed is how people seem oddly rabid for Halloween this year. Everywhere we went was already decimated quite early. It seems that people are even more interested maybe from being stuck at home for so long? I’m definitely interested in seeing what comes out next year and if brands decide to capitalize on it more. So far clothing brands have been pretty nuts with a high level of releases this year. Idk I guess I just expected more, but at the same time makeup brands often release Halloween stuff kinda late :/ Edit: I see that a Profusion collection was just announced. It’s not something I’d buy, but it looks kinda cute ☺️

Ok_Wind8690

I know profusion, nyx and makeup revolution released some stuff..not a ton of stuff. I know a little bit of Halloween stuff is popping up decor wise and candy. I guess they didn't get the memo about people liking halloween?

Thesultryscarlet

Wet and wild also just announced their Halloween collection

the_bookish_girl84

Honestly nothing is really catching my attention lately...I just feel like everything has been done...I'm even thinking about canceling Boxy because its just so boring now

GlitteryFab

The Lightworks IV palette by Danessa Myricks. I about choked when I saw the price. $125. Don’t get me wrong, she produces quality products, but I can’t justify that.

mrsvongruesome

i just cannot justify $125 on a palette of eyeshadows that are admittedly gorgeous but i don't care for all of them. i'd rather save my coin for the upcoming sales that indie brands like terramoon cosmetics and more are going to have, and get to pick the duo and multichromes i want. i've felt that way about all her lightwork palettes. they are beautiful and i love DM products but that price is absurd.

Shot-Surprise-2102

Die hard Natasha Denona fan over here and have an embarrassing amount of her palettes BUT this new Dream Collection might just beat the collector in me🤷🏻‍♀️just not loving it!

GlitteringHeart2929

I don’t have any of her large palettes so it’s not super repetitive for me but the shades seemed like a cool tone purple dream in the teaser photos but in swatches and demos they are more berry which I do enjoy but meh. Not what I wanted it to be 😂 Made it easy for me to pass.

Shot-Surprise-2102

Agree whole heartedly!! Not much purple to it!

Eppengu

I think the intent of the Dream collection was moreso Natasha’s passion project. It’s very her-specific, which I can respect. I agree with you though, I love her midi palettes, especially Love and Glam, but this array of colors wasn’t catered towards the average consumer.

shannymac4

I kind of liked the looks of the eyeshadow palette better when seeing the concept images on her site. I don’t like it as much seeing people’s IRL pictures and swatches.

Chadolf

it's so similar to her previous ones it feels like! i was really excited when she released something more different like the pastel one, was going to buy it but then it seems the formula was disappointing... i just wish she would do something more special and unique

destinerrance

So the Dior holiday 2022 collection includes a palette from their last Atelier launch (which I also already have) and that puts me off. Not that I like the other one which is dual shadow and lipstick in one palette holiday/airport style. Why make these?? Does anyone like to have their eyeshadow and lipstick in one palette? Pls let me know, I dont get it.

[deleted]

The new T28 mascara. I'm usually all over T28 products, but every photo and demo I've seen of the mascara looks so terrible. It looks clumpy and spidery af to the point where I actually find all the promo for it embarrassing because it just does not look like a good product.

Who-U-Tellin

I thought it was just me. A few hrs ago I watched the only review I plan to watch on it. It looked dry and as you said spidery. The guru raved on and on about it but she also got it in PR. After seeing other mascara reviews that she's done I know how she likes them to look and that wasn't it. I'm a bit new to her ch and I must admit. I was disappointed by that review. I wish they wouldn't rave about a product just because it came for free. If I can see how badly it performed there's no way they can't. It's a good thing I do my own research when it comes to products that do perform well. But I feel for those who don't. Who just blindly take in what a fav creator says 🤷‍♀️

olivejuice-

Isamaya industrial palette even though it’s so pretty. I don’t use black shadow and there’s 3? Black shades. Also the packaging seems really cheap and bulky.

salankapalanka

That palette is sooo pretty! I would never pay that much for a palette but if I had tons of disposable income I would for that one.

olivejuice-

The shades are so pretty. I love sparkly one and done looks and the green shade is gorgeous!

BeyondTelling

I came very close to purchasing two of the new Kaleidos eyeliners. Shipping is $10 and takes 21 days…I backed out at the last minute. I still want them but for $21/ea and having to wait a month for two eyeliners, it kind of killed my impulse-buy moment. I guess I’d rather wait till Black Friday and hopefully add them to a larger order with a good discount, since I am interested in their highlighters and a couple palettes. I already have 6 multichrome eyeliners from Danessa Myricks and Sugardrizzle so even if they’re way better from Kaleidos, $42 just felt like a lot. (Nowadays it’s not even one bag of groceries, but I grew up in the 80’s)

Cara3980NYC

I wanted one of the new Kaleidos quads but stopped myself because the last time I ordered from them, the quad came shattered. They sent a 2nd one but it also arrived broken so they refunded me because I didn't want to wait a 3rd month, only to get another broken palette. Customer service was great and quick with responses but the shipping from China to NYC was about a month each time and I'm just not risking having yet another item arrived damaged.

BeyondTelling

I feel like if I had realized that Kaleidos shipped from China beforehand, I wouldn’t have let myself get excited to order the liners in the first place, but I really thought they were in the US for some reason. I’m not especially interested in their palette color stories overall, but that one periwinkle purple quad was tempting for the mattes. I just felt like if I’m going to order and wait a month, it should be for an exciting assortment that feels more worth the wait? And since I can’t afford to splurge this month, I’ll just enjoy what I already have for now. I also have a feeling that multichrome gel liners are going to be more accessible in the next year or so, and it might not be a bad idea to wait and see what comes out next

Cara3980NYC

I think you're right about the multichrome liners and multichromes in general as more mainstream brands try to compete with the indie brands. I'm also not a fan of the regular Kaleidos color stories but people rave about their shadow formulas so when they launched the first two quads, I bought the neutral brown one as I knew I'd use it. I was really disappointed that neither of the quads they sent arrived intact and I couldn't even salvage them as the metallic shades shattered and got everywhere so the mattes were like the ColourPop glitter mattes I hate. I probably won't order from them again unless they find a US retailer/distributor. The customer service was great throughout the 2.5 months I was dealing with them but the packaging just wasn't as secure as it needed to be, either time.

BeyondTelling

I hate those Colourpop glitter mattes as well. Ruined the Wine & Only palette for me completely.

bigbootycorgis

Kimchi Thailer Blush. I want it so much and it looks beautiful but I cant spend 20 bucks on a single blush because it looks cute. If I still want it in a few months maybe

RaygunRiot

Which shade? I bought Pinky last year from Beauty Bay when it was on sale and it was oddly chalky looking on me despite being ~NW10. The formula was pretty meh and not at all worth it, which sucks because the packaging is so cute.

bigbootycorgis

I’m glad to hear it because I was soo close to getting it in peachy but I realised I mostly just wanted the packaging ☠️ Now I’m trying to find a cute heart compact to depot something in to to scratch the itch instead

RaygunRiot

If you're in the US I'd be happy to send you the Thailer compact. I dug out the blush and told myself that I was going to repress my Essence blushes in it but I know I'm never going to get around to it 🤣

bigbootycorgis

I would love that but I’m in Ireland so don’t worry about it. Thank you though I’m so glad I’m not the only person who got obsessed with the packaging and started making elaborate DIY plans with it ☠️

Chadolf

I've decided not to get the new hourglass palette (the butterfly one) as it has three different shades of finishing powder and i would only need one for my skintone, and would like a larger pan of it, also the blush doesn't look that special, nor does the highlighter. probably just going to buy a finishing powder full size, it will be cheaper and i can get it on sale. dim light was way too dark for me, so i use it as bronzer and it looks quite nice :)

Eppengu

I’m in the same boat. I would have loved there to be 1-2 finishing powders, 2 blushes, 1 bronzer, and 1-2 highlights. I think the blushes in that palette are too similar to each other, and the finishing powders are as well. I’m disappointed because I love the concept and the palette artwork, just not the delivery and execution of the idea.

Chadolf

i honestly hope that the next step for Hourglass is completely customizable palettes (not just the artwork). i would 100% buy a palette if i could decide which shade i wanted a large pan of, and which blushes and highlighters. three palettes are just not enough to cover everyones wishes/shade needs

Melissa9066

Honestly I wish most brands would allow this. I hate bronzer so it’s not something I care about but I would love a finishing powder, highlighter and a bunch of blushes. I am happy the Tiger one is catered well or at least it seems to be from pics and vid’s I’ve watched. It’s a small step in the right direction.

boatnoodle

Dose of Colors x Shayla collab. Came across Desi’s insta stories. Shades look pretty. It dropped today but unsure if I’ll buy since I don’t own any Dose of Colors product. Do you guys think it’s worth it?

Thesultryscarlet

I think that collection is so beautiful and so classic! I don't even wear neutrals that often but it seemed like such a staple collection. I haven't tried any dose of colors personally but it also peaked my interest

laereal

I'm really enamoured with the muted mauve-y marroon palettes from PMGL and ND that were released lately, i have a hard time choosing between them. I won't consider picking them up until later (if at all), because i have a lot of shadows to get through and play with first. Happy to put them off so i don't get overwhelmed with how much i still have. [Rant] I had been really covetous of all the multichromes that had recently come out from indie brands, but again, my adhd seems to balk at the idea of comparing and choosing the ones i want to try out. I'd have a vague list of what i want, then when i try to get them on sale some of them are inevitably out of stock, so i hesitate to order them. Not only that, but shipping seems to screw over anyone outside of the US -- free shipping thresholds are higher, then sometimes you get hit by duties when you reach said thresholds, the exchange rate gives me sticker shock, and indies sometimes come with long shipping times. Even with Clionadh, which is in the same city as i am, have a $10 flat shipping rate, but their options are one of the most expensive out of the popular indie brands. I just can't seem to win either way, especially with inflation the way it is. Singles from indies aren't viable for me right now, and i am a tad frustrated at how there is a certain subset of the community that talk about this as the more preferable/affordable route sometimes; most likely this is in the perspective of americans, or those who have access to local brands without exorbitant fees attached to it. [End rant] (*sighs easily*) Luckily, i did find viable options over time. Danessa Myricks had a more curated version of her previous Lightworks palette that i was able to get a hold of recently from Sephora Canada -- all multichomes/iridescents that i can finally use as something to base on when i can compare them to indies in the future. The sticker shock didn't hurt as much, and it arrived within 24hrs of the order. It'll be my last big purchase for a while, and i'll try to keep true to it, hopefully until Black Friday sales.

unicorncheetah

Hi! Not trying to make you buy anything, but Clionadh does (or did) have a code that you could put in the coupon section that would then allow you to pick up your shadows from their office location and not pay shipping. I know this was the case pre covid. I am not sure now, but it may be worth an email to them in the future to see.

laereal

Oh, thank you! I might contact them later about that if i'm thinking of buying from them in the near future. ☺😊

normcore_black

Not trying to make you buy anything either :))) but, regarding multichromes: don't be overwhelmed by the choices because in reality, just having a couple is fantastic as they are so versatile. You can match the shifts with your other shadows or just go opposite, or fully neutral to just display the multichrome... Oh also, maybe don't listen to me because even if I realise I could do well with 2 or 3, I have... 0\_o'

laereal

Thank you very much for telling me this. ☺ I felt like since i see people with large collections of them that i might need to sample so many to have a good idea of what i really want... but i think that was a silly notion to have in my head. I don't need so many to enjoy them, or get an idea of what i'd like to try next. 🤗

normcore_black

Absolutely! I feel that every day looking at mine: just choose one or two you will cherish and you will have a multitude of looks possible. Also, just a suggestion: devinah is top of the line and more affordable than most…

Beneficial-Bobcat-20

Any Dime products. So over influencers thumping their products. It’s getting old. Seems like any and all of them will take Dimes payout for ad time.
