Certifeye, when I found out it's all private-labelled rather them producing it themselves. Unicorn Cosmetics, I ordered a mystery box that was meant to have 8 full size make-up items. It had 7 items, and that included a flimsy brow spoolie, a scratched brush holder and a keyring. Also a lipgloss, which doesn't close properly so you can only store it upright, and it went off really quickly (started smelling of crayons) because it wasn't airtight. I know that mystery boxes are a gamble, but this was definitely the worst one I've bought from a brand.

liquidcarbonlines

Unicorn cosmetics was my first pick for this too - worst palette I have ever tried from an indie without a shadow of a doubt. I bought the wicked palette because I seem to want to try out any UK based indie palette I can and it was awful, absolutely awful. Compared with my Royal Rose palette from Cosmic Brushes or Still Pretty from September Rose Cosmetics (which were both around the same price and are absolutely superb quality) it was incredibly disappointing.

Invidiana

Certifeye disappointed me too. I don't buy from brands that just pick a bunch of premade colors and arrange them into a palette (working with a lab or brand incubator to develop colors and formulas is a different thing to me), but so many YouTubers I followed at the time were raving about it, so I bought just one palette. I'm glad I didn't get sucked in any further.

N7Unicorn

Does Half Magic count as an indie brand? If so, then hands down one of the worst customer service! The glitter liners were fucking water. The glitter had stuck to the walls of the packaging and weren’t mixing with the solution. Got ZERO glitter and just water when trying to use it. The cream shadows are not great either. Cool shades but you can’t layer the product too much because it gets patchy. Staying power is better on matte shadows. The shimmer ones made my eyes water. Was cutting it close to the deadline and they were dragging their feet. Saying they were having issues with their return page or something like that. So was never given an address to sent the crap back. Took 3 weeks 😒

GlitterDancer_

Honestly I was disappointed with this brand. Nothing was really innovative, other brands already have similar products except for maybe the eyeliner guide which is unique, and the eyeliner stickers you can literally buy from Ali Express for like $1- not $19. I guess I expected more?

PeepsUnderTheBed

I was more excited by the hairclip ✨they included than the eyeliner guide I bought .

N7Unicorn

It is a cute hair clip 😂 only thing I kept!

Sinnam0nRoll

This proves to me that the Half Magic brand should have been a collab/a line within an already existing brand (maybe About Face, Urban Decay, etc.). This way, the newer brand would already have a customer service standard built in from an established brand and maybe not run into these issues.

Invidiana

It should have been About Face x Euphoria. Honestly, I think that brand is more Euphoria than Half Magic (which is created by the show’s makeup artist) is.

magpie-like-sparkly

I was really thinking about ordering from them but this has totally turned me off

Invidiana

I was tempted by Half Magic but after seeing this, I don't know. I didn't really care for the glitter liners and Colourpop makes much cheaper face gems. It's too bad about the cream shadows, because I was most drawn to those.

fleshand_roses

I ordered only a lip bundle from this brand, just to get a small taste of what they were about, but I'm not impressed and regret spending my money on it It feels like they didn't put enough effort behind the branding, marketing, or packaging. It doesn't feel like they really put the right amount of talent behind the line for it to really pop. I mean Glossier Play was more exciting, as a "Euphoria-inspired" makeup line, than Half Magic is.

jentzumo

I ordered from Touch of Glam once. The shipping timeframe said there would be about a month wait and I was fine with that. Two months after I placed the order, I still hadn’t heard anything. I requested to cancel it and the owner responded immediately in a very rude manner, accusing me of trying to cheat her policies. She said something about how she has a life and she’s busy and I was being disrespectful of her business. I don’t remember the exact wording, it’s been a long time ago and it literally did ship the next day, but it’s always left a bad taste in my mouth. Also Lunatick Labs. They way underpaid shipping so I had a good amount postage due when I received the package. I contacted them about it because they labeled the package as weighing like 7 oz when it was definitely at least 2 pounds. They never responded to my emails and I got a shipping refund weeks later.

goodvibess2020

TOG IS SO NOTORIOUS FOR THIS

horriblekitty

Touch of Glam has a ridiculous turnaround. I'm used to handmade cosmetics taking 4 to 6 weeks, not 2 to 3 months which is stupid. They need to hire help or use a lab to make their cosmetics.

cookiecutterdoll

I'm skeptical of TOG because of their prices. Similar shadows from other brands are so much cheaper.

SnooSuggestions7184

Same experience with Touch of Glam.

ashleevee

…you’ve just reminded me that I definitely ordered from touch of glam like, at least a month ago, and it’s still not here

ashleevee

Wait… not even kidding I literally just got a shipping email lol

ashleevee

OH MY GOD I ordered ONE single in MAY and it only just shipped today

TheEmperorofSF

Same here. On top of Al the things that you’ve mentioned the shadow was not near as cool as it was in the photo, very lackluster. Disappointing considering I paid a lot of money to wait months, to be treated rudely, and to have a finished product that I could’ve gotten for much cheaper much quicker. I said never again and I stand by that, no matter how tempting.

Parking-Membership42

I ordered ONE eyeshadow May 8th and just received it. While it is stunning (hello holo) 3 months wait is ridiculous. The shipping price was ridiculous ($7.85) for it to come in a bubble mailer. It was wrapped in bubble wrap and scotch taped shut. The cardboard that held the shadow was plain and stapled shut. For $30.06 (on sale) total, I expected more. I get a better experience and product from copacetic cosmetics. For that price I could have gotten 2 multichromes and a matte eyeshadow. TOG is over rated.

AsterismRaptor

Okay I might be in the minority but Lethal Cosmetics and ONLY for this reason. The colors on the website are duller in real life than I expected from the photos and even swatches. I got what I thought was a bright green but when I opened it, was a leafy dull green. Only complaint. The shadows work great, and I do enjoy their multichromes too.

antonia_dreams

I feel like Lethal shadows are kind of powdery and generally muted in tone but they blend well and like, wear down on the eye in a flattering way? Like they fade a little into the skin as the day goes on (even with primer) but so evenly and subtly that they still look good, arguably better than right after application. Or maybe that's just my eyelid chemistry lol. also their shimmers are meh imo. very metallic. I think they've built their eyeshadow reputation on good mattes, decent shimmers/multichromes, and most importantly, an AWESOME palette design system and a super functional website, plus timely shipping and good packaging etc.

jettblack92

My opinion, you completely nailed it on the head! The shadows fade on me fairly soonish, even with a primer. But it doesn't necessarily look bad, just like you say! How odd. Bravo on the review! Lol it ticks every box for me.

AsterismRaptor

Agreed! They definitely have some great shadows and they work super well! It’s an interesting way that they work too but I do enjoy them. And I do love the palette design system, that’s what got me excited to try them in the first place!

antonia_dreams

I think the lack of dead space in their magnetic palettes (I have a normal magnetic palette from them but then a 12 pan with the pot slots) makes them feel nicer and more "real" right? Like Sydney Grace is my favorite indie brand, and I also have some nice single shadows from colourpop, nabla, beauty bay etc but they look kind of gross in magnetic palettes with no barriers between them. It put me off indies for a while because while I love the quality, I feel like my SG magnetic palette just looks shittier than even premade ulta brand 6 pan lol. So Lethal having the pot slots? Stunning.

ashleevee

Yeah, their website colors aren’t very accurate, in my experience especially the blues. That being said, I uh, do own almost all their singles lol

Invidiana

I actually love colors with dusty undertones, so seeing that they looked a bit grungier in real life got me excited, but what can I say, I'm a swamp creature.

PeepsUnderTheBed

Same. And it took a very long time to get my package since they’re in Germany. I was able to dupe Bridgerton 2 using mostly Lethal. I wanted to be wowed. I remain mostly impressed but not in love

mcguik3

I’d recommend just paying for the FedEx shipping if you can. I do that and it consistently comes now within about a week instead of like 3.

chowchow-kay

I was excited for the Sugar drizzle duochrome/multichrome liners until I realized they were the exact ones sold on Alibaba.

Invidiana

WHAT. Theresa is Dead hyped those so much.

gilded_lady

She did and I specifically remember thinking you spent $20 each on $2 liners? Maybe I'll grab them from SheGlam some day.

Invidiana

I’m leery of SheGlam because, ethics aside, I’ve heard of an awful chemical smell coming from Shein clothes, so who knows what’s in their makeup.

damselinadress187

Me too, I bought 4 and while I do like them, I was fucking shocked when I saw them on AliExpress. I also didn't like the FAQ's on the site about the liners, they're like, don't ask for a refund if you advance the pencil too far and it breaks. Lady you paid less than $2/each, probably waaay less for wholesale.

chowchow-kay

Edit: Not Alibaba, Aliexpress. You can still find them on their website if you search for “Multichrome liners”

TheEmperorofSF

Yea one of my other faves loves them too. They are ok, mediocre imo. Same with itsbel, they must all source from the same spot. The YouTuber I love even calls out the brands for all being made the same place and not disclosing. She just thinks they are beautiful, meh.

PeepsUnderTheBed

Omg. I would die

ApprehensiveStable21

Omg i was planning on getting those 💀💀 thanks for the warning

Glitslit96

They private label. Nothing wrong with it as long as they aren’t saying it’s hand made, but yes you could in theory get them cheaper elsewhere

SofiaKalashnikov

I ordered from Beauty Bakerie a couple of years ago when they were less known, paid trough my ass on shipping taxes (not the brand's fault obviously) only to end up with sticky, patchy lipsticks that can't be spread over one coat. I legit feel like I'm spreading fast drying glue on my lips. On the other hand the brow products were good, so I have no idea if the lipsticks were a fluke.

PrinceTamaki1

Nope. Those lipsticks are terrible. They're available in Target and I bought a nude. It was like Gorilla Glue for lips.

SofiaKalashnikov

Oof I'm beginning to see that I'm clearly not the only one with complaints about the lipsticks. At the time everyone was raving about them so I thought I just got a dud. Another thing that came to mind is that my friend who also bought some lipsticks on the same order left a comment on their IG with her complaints and they deleted her comment. Shady all around.

Invidiana

Ugh those lipsticks...I only ever got two and they were on sale. They're exactly what you said. Literal glue.

selm267

I tried their breakfast in bed palette and it was by far the worst palette I have ever used. Patchy, dull, and the colors just muddied together no matter what I did. Hated every look I did using it, so it quickly went in the trash.

crissyandthediamonds

Yes I came to comment the same thing! I got it in one of their mystery boxes/bags, my first time buying from them. I was so excited! And then the palette was awful. I used it once and threw it out. I haven’t bought anything from them since.

Alia_Explores99

The lipstick manages to be both impossible to remove yet also wear patchily, crumbly away almost immediately. It defies logic

saeculacrossing

Probably not a popular opinion – but Blend Bunny Cosmetics. I have the Dollhouse palette and while I believe it is a really impressive palette and has a nice gradient of matte shades between light to deep, I think the shimmers and topper shades are not that well done, and they drag down the quality of the palette. The quality of the mattes were excellent though, I don't get as much use out of them as many of them are a bit gray based and dusty looking on my skin, so I think part of it is just some of the formulas and tones are not to my liking. The owner seems very sweet though and the delivery was very quick, so for me it was more issues with the quality for the price than any issues with the brand or service.

jettblack92

In your opinion, do you think another one of their color stories could be better, or worth trying? I've been wanting to get one of their palettes SO bad.

saeculacrossing

I see someone already answered but my biggest disappointment was with the shimmers personally so if I ever tried another palette I'd recommend blends! Alternatively, the new Primal palette is probably a good choice if you want a more condensed version and don't mind the larger pans for the white and black shades. I wear less colorful makeup daily so the Dollhouse was most appealing to me, but I've heard excellent things about the other palettes so I'm sure you can't go wrong!

PeepsUnderTheBed

I have 3 of the palettes and Blends is the one I gravitate towards most. The matte formula is excellent. I consider myself a beginner in eye makeup and these shadows are so easy to work with.

verinthebrown

Surge palette is awesome. The color story is a little more on the grungy side, but that's my personal preference. About half of the shimmers are nice, the rest I don't touch, but that's not a big deal for me since I mainly use that palette for the mattes and have TONS of Terra Moons single shimmer/multi chrome shadows.

flaminstraight

PLEASE try the brand. I have blends and surge and I have to FORCE myself to use my other palettes so they dont sit unused. The range of colors is top notch, and the quality is every bit as good as people say it is. I dont even care for nude palettes, but I keep considering buying dollhouse solely to have another blend bunny palette in my hands!

Gooncookies

Bechy. Complete garbage company. Didn’t get my April preorder until mid July and only after I was given a shitty, snarky response to my inquiry about my order and subsequently emailed them and told them I was going to dispute the charges for the order, suddenly it was ready to ship the next day. The shadows are underwhelming and dry and flaky(not in a good way) Never again. I don’t know how they stay in business.

Tiny-Reading5982

I honestly only see people who get 'pr' use their shadows. They're on my do not buy list 😬

phantompath

This pains me as an Aussie but ... Glaminatrix Cosmetics. Great product, but they almost exclusively do pre-orders for their palettes now, and the pre-order period is often 6-8 weeks or more. When the delivery date finally does roll around, you inevitably get a mea culpa email from the owner about how the shipping dates had to be pushed back a few days or a few weeks for x, y or z reason. The owner has hired someone to help her now, but it's one of those brands where you just can't rely on stock or shipping dates. It's fine if you don't need the palette by a specific date, but if you want to give it as a gift or are relying on having it for a special occasion, forget it.

No-Minute5945

Ahh yea the wait for 2 months for a palette is kinda crazy. I’m still waiting for mine to arrive

Gooncookies

I waited 5+ months for a Bechy order.

tccthing

I’ve had quicker preorder/shipping times from indie brands from the states which is quite disappointing because I love Glaminatrix.

profcatmom

I don’t mind to wait for the actual shipping from anywhere, but the pre-orders and slow packing times drive me crazy. I’m not cut out for those kinds of indies, I guess. Which is a shame because the new palette from Glaminatrix was absolutely on my wishlist.

LovePeek123

I waited 2 months and my palette was broken! It was devastating as far as makeup goes

phantompath

Oh no! That sucks. I've been lucky with no breakages in the two palettes I've ordered from Glaminatrix.

PeepsUnderTheBed

SaintsAngelsSinners. I picked up the Follow Your Dreams palette and it looked so different than all the swatches and pics. The colors are flat and chalky looking. I’m uninspired by it and I have yet to use it. Que the owner and weeks of drama in how they treated content creators and I’m ready to sell it on mercari.

Realdeathandcandy27

A lot of the ex supporters have depotted the palettes so to dispose of the packaging and i have personally remixed shadows from brands i no longer support but own products from into new shadows/projects.

LovePeek123

Off topic but what happened with you and SAS most recently. I saw on your stories that you were forced to delete something. Are you being sued ?

cailedoll

Sugar Drizzle. I have the original all duochrome palette and while it’s definitely not terrible, I was disappointed. Some of the shades are pretty underwhelming. The quality just seems to be different between the shades. The only indie brands I’ve never been disappointed by are Glam Shop and Sugarpill

horriblekitty

I think sugar drizzle does private label and not handmade cosmetics. I've seen identical stuff on aliexpress, but for much less.

lexi_ladonna

Slayfire Cosmetics. I bought a mystery bundle of three glitters and since I owned no glitter at the time I thought any three would be fine. It still managed to disappoint. When it came, two of the three were the same glitter and when I contacted her about it she was very rude and gave me a big sob story about how she’s an independent business and I’m just trying to take her down and get free glitter and she never promised they’d be different colors. I left a review saying I got two of three colors the same just so people would know (it said in the listing they’d be 3 different colors) and she took the review down and started sending me *really* nasty messages saying that maybe she would have agreed to let me exchange one if I hadn’t been so rude as to try to “ruin her business” with a bad review tl;dr she was incredibly rude, played the victim, and removes all non-positive reviews

Realdeathandcandy27

Goodness, i’m really sorry to hear about your experience with slayfire. I haven’t purchased with them because i know from other sources i won’t like the formula (i prefer a gel base that fully dries down and doesn’t stay tacky). Did you like the 2 you got?

lexi_ladonna

They were ok. The two that were the same were a deep navy blue and I don’t find I wear a lot of dark glitter, but I also got a pink one and it was nice. Falls out a bit more than my Lemonhead LA space paste and doesn’t dry down as much, but doesn’t crease as much, either

MissAbbyFay

Klarity. I got the mermaid palette, one shadow was broken. No issues getting a replacement-so that’s good, but the quality is just…not it. The mattes are almost non existent, the shimmers aren’t my favorite. Just underwhelming for me.

mcguik3

My mermaid palette, the shimmer just exploded from sitting in on my vanity… I think they were not pressed well and just fell apart after being touched only a few times.

MindLikeAMindfield

Good to know! I’ve been tempted by a few of their palettes

VeryVanny

Lunatick Cosmetic Labs. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love their aesthetic and I WISH their eyeshadows worked for me, but they don’t. It might be that I’m not super skilled with eyeshadow, but the palettes I got from them are hard to work with for me. They by no means aren’t bad quality, though. With that said. I’m still open to trying more from them if they come out with stuff that peaks my interest. I’m very sad that they disappointed me though because their brand is very cool. Better luck next time

horriblekitty

B'elegant cosmetics and Killer Queens. B'elegant had really terrible communication and didn't bother to notify me they were having technical issues that was causing them to be delayed. They swore up and down it was going in the mail that day. More weeks go by and I didn't have my palette. After I contacted them again they finally sent it and it arrived with several pans broken. I was just so over them that I didn't bother to try to get that rectified. As for Killer Queens, I ordered the anti-Valentine's Day palette and it turned into a huge fiasco for all. I ordered it in November and it was supposed to ship in february. Then it was changed to April. In June I started to get fed up and worried that I was being ripped off. I guess enough people complained about that that the owner caved in and started offering people refunds which I took. A special mention for Touch of Glam cosmetics who have the most ridiculous turnaround ever. They are my absolute last resort for makeup if I can't find something similar elsewhere.

LovePeek123

Killer Queens is the worst. I don’t even count them because they’re disgraceful. I just filed a chargeback and that was that!

coldvault

I'm still sad/mad that Shiro just up and fucking disappeared in 2019 (although, in retrospect...not bad timing, just horrible execution). The founder/owner, Caitlin, even deleted her reddit account. I still cherish my Deadpool-themed eyeshadow and custom lip gloss :(

kingsandlionhearts

One of the lipglosses I got from them is still one of my favorites of all time. I was so sad when they just vanished.

chemchick27

That's the name! I have LotR themed eyeshadows that got ruined and I couldn't remember the name of the brand. No wonder I couldn't find them online.

JessBeauty14

I had an absolutely terrible experience with Klarity Kosmetics. One of the shadows I had ordered was apparently out of stock but I wasn’t told until I got the rest of my order and saw the packing slip and handwritten on it was “out of stock, refund issued”. But I wasn’t ever refunded at that point. When I reached out to the brand asking where my refund was, they told me my attitude wasn’t necessary, and said that they issue only refunds twice a month. I eventually did get the refund for the one OOS shadow but it was almost a month after my initial order.

missmaddie04

I have also had awful experiences with them. One time I made a huge order which was taking a really long time to ship so I reached out and they told me they were sorry and that they'd send out another package for me. They said it would be the same tracking number as my original package which I thought was weird but didn't question it too much. Eventually the package did ship and come to my house, only the 2 (or 3, I can't remember) multichromes I ordered weren't in the package. So I reached out to customer service with pictures to prove that the products weren't there. They responded by telling me that the package I had received was the first box they sent out and I just needed to wait for the second box which would have all of my items in it. I waited 2 weeks and nothing showed up. So I, again, contacted customer service and was told there was nothing they could do about it unless I filed a claim with UPS. Once again, I thought this was weird but went ahead and did it anyway. At this point it was over a month before I heard from Klarity (with no refund or products) so I reached out to UPS who told me that Klarity had not filled out their part of the claim. I contacted Klarity and was accused of fraud because of how I had filled out the form, (which I filled out to the best of my ability with the information I had). I contacted UPS again who told me there was nothing wrong with the form I had filled out, Klarity just wasn't doing what they needed to do. Then ensues a months long email back and forth with Klarity to get the products shipped to me or a refund. They basically just kept ghosting me until I finally gave up and said, "Fine. Just give me store credit." Which they did about a day after I asked. But let me remind you, this was after MONTHS of me badgering them to refund or replace the items that THEY hadn't put in my box. I will NEVER order from them again.

orchidroot

yikes! usu if i have issues with a company i will ask my credit card company to step in. not sure if that’s an option for you but i’m sorry to hear this!

That1weirdperson

:0 were you the one who made a post about them here? I remember someone saying their customer service was bad, and accusing customers of having attitude.

JessBeauty14

Yes, that was me. I removed it when the brand messaged me threatening legal action for my slanderous accusations 🙄

Teacheroftinies

To anyone reading this, if it’s true it’s not slander!

That1weirdperson

:0 OMG they saw your Reddit post? Do they seriously search this sub for their brand mentioned?

JessBeauty14

My hunch is that the one girl who defended them all over my post was personal friends with the brand owner and alerted her to my post. Klarity’s Reddit account was created the same day my post was made 🤔

That1weirdperson

:0 Nooo what horrible timing! Omg I thought they hired an intern to scour social media all day 😫 Because of business was slow and they were doing it…I’d say get a life 💀

LovePeek123

![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flip_out)Klarity and copacetic cosmetics. I won’t be buying from them anytime soon. Bad formula from Klarity and bad customer service too. Copacetic eyeshadow is just bad . Let’s just say they’re worth the $2 you pay for it! Also Glaminatrix. I ordered nocturnal and everything arrived broken and a total mess! I waited months for the palette! Then they sent replacement shades (even though the palette now was messy with stained eyeshadow and it was foam so the stains didn’t come off!) The replacement shades arrived about 2.5 weeks later………and they WERE ALSO BROKEN 😞!! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flip_out)

cbau97

I had the same feelings about copacetic in the past, but their multichromes are literally on par with other indie brands. They have a few different formulas I realized and I think they've been upping their game lately. The two newest Klarity palettes have a much better shimmer formula, but they wouldn't be my top recommended for indie brands.

Fluffy-Yak-3319

I noticed Copacetic has two types of eyeshadow formulas. The really weird powdery formula and their multichrome sparkly formula. The ones that are affordable and usually comes in the sales are the weird formula :/

fleshand_roses

I purchased a collab palette from Copacetic and found the formulas to be quite bad. It takes a lot for me to declutter something but I no longer own that palette the mattes were just that super pigmented, very powdery formula that doesn't want to blend and gets patchy if you try, and the duochrome shadows were really chunky, like there was too much binder.

PrinceTamaki1

Really? The Bloom palette from Klarity is on my wishlist. What palette did you purchase and what didn’t you like about the formula?

LovePeek123

Magic Lamp and the mermaid one from last year. I threw them both away. I couldn’t even resell them on Mercari. I suggest you check out reviews before buying. The eyeshadow just crumbled to bits (the shimmers) and they’re not even that shimmery compared to other brands. Their best palette is cobra but if an eyeshadow breaks they give you a credit for the shade only- no replacement!

luffys-hat

yall 😭 I ordered from copacetic almost a month ago and my order still hasn't shipped. I've been patient since that was the estimated wait time but how are they going to conventions and putting out new products before making sure all orders are fulfilled? Idek if I want it anymore like damn.

Young_Former

I thought Coloured Raine’s metallics were beautiful but their mattes were so lackluster it made me sell their palettes and just get some singles. Now they don’t even do singles anymore.

Nice-Reality288

Really? I had never had trouble with their mattes, crazy how powder lays from skin to skin

EntropicallyFlavored

I used to be a huge fan of Looxi Beauty - they had really pretty duochrome shadows for an affordable price and shipping was pretty quick. It's a one-person operation iirc and customer service was awesome. One time I placed an order and wanted to swap out a shade, emailed them and they responded quickly. Another time I needed to cancel my order completely and again, quick response and no issues honoring my request. A few years ago they changed their formula and the new formula either has synthetic wax or it was always there but is now higher up on the ingredient list. In my opinion the quality of the shadows are not worth even $3. They crease immediately and have no staying power. The pans are squishy like a super shock shadow but without the quality of a SSS. They had some multichromes that were the worst eyeshadow formula I have ever experienced. On top of that they release small collections that sell out immediately, so it's hard to find swatches of anything and therefore I have to rely on the website swatches. The company swatches are a whole issue as well. I am not sure what medium is being used or if filtering/editing is being done, but I have never once received an eyeshadow that matched the online swatch. It didn't used to be this way and the brand still has many loyal customers, so I am not sure why the owner insists on deceiving customers.

lunchlady420

The SWATCHES. I ordered a few shadows from them and legit thought i was sent incorrect shades. They look nothing like the swatches on the website, i was so disappointed. They’re so lackluster. I ended up throwing them away, I’ll never order from them again.

profcatmom

Looxi shadows are garbage. I bought them after the formula change, so I never got to experience them in their prime. The only way I can make them work is with glitter glue, and they’re still disappointing. It’s really made me hesitant about buying from other brands like Shine by SD.

porkchop_47

Shine by SD is actually worth it though, I have a ton of their shades and they’re beautiful.

Invidiana

I have a few older Looxi shadows that are beautiful...it's a shame they changed their formula. I'd rather pay a little more for something with better quality.

vampyrbats

Lemon Head LA - when it came out that the founder has worn bl*ck face for Halloween costumes & loves Trump. Loved the glitters but can’t support that POS.

Sparepartsbud1994

I bought from them once until all that stuff came out and now I’m desperately searching for dupes 😭 makeup isn’t worth sacrificing my morals so until they get rid of the founder or something better comes out I’ll be glitterless

LovePeek123

Try lit cosmetics. They have great glitter

Sparepartsbud1994

Oooo thank you for the suggestion!!

psilocindream

Try Unleashia Get Loose glitter gel

SweetTeaBags

SaintsAngelsSinners aka SAS. Their owner is not a great person and deleted their "apology" which was more like a lack of taking responsibility for her actions. I had pointed these two things out and got a cease & desist. Darcy is incredibly narcissistic and she has absolutely no eye for design. They also promised deeper swatches and have yet to fulfill that promise. There's a reason they got called out.

LovePeek123

There is now a lawsuit. [here is the Reddit link](https://www.reddit.com/r/BeautyGuruChatter/comments/wfdmn6/indie_brand_saint_angels_sinners_is_suing/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)

SweetTeaBags

Idk why I'm not surprised. I also found information on her that she has a tax warrant of almost $8500 so there's no way this isn't motivated by money and to try to silence deathandcandy. That info is public and searchable through NY's system.

LovePeek123

She also has a $2,500 lien on her house ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grimacing)

SweetTeaBags

Yeah idk how she could afford a lawyer and I'm surprised she hasn't declared bankruptcy.

_AngelicVenom_

I'm sure this will be controversial but Menagerie. They totally mishandled so much before and during the pandemic. Especially with the collab they did. Their customer service is atrocious, I have contacted them to discuss their international issues and it was clear the only 'research' they had done was reading a blog. I know the changes in the UK and EU situation have caused issues but they had zero interest in really learning or looking into it. They handled things so badly and I've not seen any improvement. Also should say it wasn't a general pandemic issue it was just their bad management, communication, and customer service. There are a lot of very good EU brands now and small companies trying to attract and keep international customers hanging on with false promises just aren't worth my time. This also applies to shroud. No makeup is worth the incredibly bad organisation of either of those brands. There are probably more but these two have really put me off most of the American indie brands.

thirteenoclock86

I sent them an IG message a month ago, just a simple shipping question - no reply. Doesn't bode well so won't be risking it.

AgreeableLight3997

Worthy the Label. Can’t really comment on the products bc they won’t send them to me! First shipping was delayed then I get an apology email that they are reorganizing so orders will go out during the weekend. Finally get shipping tracking the following Monday but shipment has been sitting in preshipment status for last two weeks!!! What is worse is I follow the owner on IG, and I just see her eye effing the camera and going out to the movies. Take some pride in your brand bc this is starting to turn scammer level and if I don’t get response by Friday, filing dispute with my CC company.

Pterodactyl_Noises

JD Glow. Honestly, they were my favorite brand with some lovely sparkles. I’ve even helped dozens of people order colors they’d enjoy from them, too. But turns out, they are anti-choice. And just like that, I’M DONE.

mcguik3

I also ordered one of there newer more pastel multichrome shades before everything came out and it is probably one of the worst multichromes I’ve ever bought. It’s so hard pressed you have to scrape it to use it and it just isn’t even good. I had other multichromes from them before so idk what the heck happened but it isn’t even usable.

curious_throw_away_

Same. It's so dry it's got no payoff

Pterodactyl_Noises

Ooh, thank you for sharing! I kept debating that new multichrome Venom, and I’m glad I didn’t pull the trigger on it. Their original multichromes from 5 years ago are still going strong, so that’s an odd change.

prettycrimson

I remember them having other controversies. I think it was Tina from thefancyface that had a video about it

Pterodactyl_Noises

Oh, she did? I remember her big takedown of Give Me Glow, but I haven’t heard about her beef with JD Glow.

goodvibess2020

Fuck! I didn’t know that

biggerteeth

JD glows swatches make me laugh. It’s just a straight up FIST

That1weirdperson

👊🏼

curious_throw_away_

And they never addressed it properly like they said they would. Just kinda ignored it and moved on posting ads for their products

R1ngBanana

I was trying to remember the anti-choice I die brand. Thanks!

mo_rella

Wow the typo is oddly fitting

dizzyspell

Same here. They were my first foray into indie makeup, and I (still) absolutely cherish my Galaxy shadows -- I have 32 of them! I recommended them to so many people online and even gifted a custom quad to a friend. But I'll never purchase from them again.

eldritch_eyeliner

Oh this one made me sad, because I love the shadows and liquid liners I have from them. After learning about their political beliefs though, I stopped buying from them again and stopped their products on Insta. Never again.

No-Relationship8777

Hard same. I absolutely LOVED JD Glow, but after the anti-choice thing came out I just couldn’t support them anymore. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)

HighlightLeading3

Mine is Devinah. I was really excited about their selection of greens and I ordered 6 matte eyeshadows from them and was disappointed in over half of them. My main issue is with their product photographs (which they have said they want to update) combined with product descriptions. I spent an annoying amount of time researching trying to make sure I ordered what I wanted. I checked their Instagram, tagged Instagram photos, videos, and Temptalia. And still I ended up with two sets of dupes and one eyeshadow I’m still convinced was labeled wrong. I ordered the shade Thisbe which is described as a true matte green. The picture on their website depicts this and everywhere else I looked it is a medium/deep green. The eyeshadow (labeled as Thisbe) I got is a pale dusty denim shade which looks exactly like the shade Fenella on their website. I emailed them about this and their response was nope it’s the right shade. Listen. Either their photography is some of the worst ever or they had an eyeshadow labeled wrong. Even if the photograph is inaccurate the description still says it’s a green and unless I suddenly went colorblind it is not. On top of that I never use what I got from them because they are such a pain to use and blend without turning into a muddy mess. Basically I had really high hopes and they just ended up being so meh for me.

AttemptWhole4973

I never bought from them thankfully but Storybook cosmetics. So poorly managed

GlitterDancer_

I have their eyeshadow brushes and they’re honestly really great quality even like 5 years later they’re still excellent, the palette I got at the same time though is not great and I just use it for decoration at this point. It was patchy, didn’t blend, and wasn’t very pigmented.

midnightowl510

I totally forgot about them!

barbietownisdoomed

JD Glow years ago. Nothing was pressed firmly enough. It was a total disaster. They eroded pretty fast and ended up all mixed together, and I couldn't even salvage the Z palette they were in. And this was literally just from sitting in a palette rack and gentle use. I didn't even take it anywhere.

ming-meii

cult candy cosmetics, goth both palettes and was pretty disappointed bc they were very hard to plead and patchy. maybe I just got a bad batch?

[deleted]

Yeah mine was very light on th pigmentation, but i like having it for the gorgeous packaging and bc the gold isn't too bad

fleshand_roses

this is sort of half good, half bad, but claropsyche was/is one of those "quirky arty makeup gurl" brands and their original palette, psyche's box, is a really pretty array of sort of approachable colors but it was incredibly lackluster on me. half the colors barely show up on my skintone, it was just a bad, chalky looking formula HOWEVER the brand's second palette, real fantasy, is lovely and great and gorgeous and one of my favorites made me really hesitant to try their third release and I haven't picked it up yet, and probably will not

veganbutterflies

What Sixteen92 did was incredibly shitty. Refusing to send orders and ignoring customers even while making new releases sucks. There’s an interesting hobby drama post I can find about it if anyone’s interested.

bonelessbbqbutthole

Notoriously Morbid. As a person who loves weird things, I thought this brand would be right up my alley so I ordered a few shadows from them and joined their FB group. I waited for weeks for my order all while seeing their "mavens"post in the group about getting their orders in under a week when they ordered after I did. My stuff wasn't pre-order and theirs wasn't PR so I was confused and decided to do some googling on the brand. I came across a reddit thread where a former maven talked about her negative experience with the brand and I was aghast at what I read. The way the owner treats the people who give her free publicity for basically peanuts and the way she treats customers is not okay. There was also a scandal about a shade name that she swept under the rug. I was a goth kid in HS and now I'm a goth kid with a 9-5 so I get being alt and "edgy" but this was some bullshit (and unfortunately can't remember the actual shade name). Can we just be alt without being disgusting? Please?

bonelessbbqbutthole

Forgot the best part, the shadows I ordered were shit

segasmom

I love my Absinthe and Lace palette from NM even though it's extremely delicate, the formula is very unique and once I found the learning curve I have a great time with it. So I ordered the Pretty Poison palette after two YouTubers that I like received it in PR and had fantastic swatches and closeup tutorials/first impressions with it and I made the decision to buy it based on my previous experience. I cannot get it to work. I tried so hard. NYX Glitter primer, their own glitter/pigment primer, finger, brush, spongetip applicator, nothing would get these shimmers to payoff on my eyelid. They looked so dull, nothing like they did in the videos and these are two very small Youtubers who have no problem pointing out they don't like something they've received in PR and do up close tutorials so you can see when something isn't working and get a relatively good idea on how it would perform. I got the second preorder round so I'm wondering if there is something in that round's formula that was different. It's so sad because I still keep trying hoping something will click and the colors are gorgeous and I love the theming (I collect mushroom tchotchkes).

[deleted]

Chaos Makeup. Lovely products...terrible customer service. Trash shipping times and excuse after excuse.

Sparepartsbud1994

I got their black duo chrome and a couple of others and I did not like their formula. I tried using it every way possible with no primer, their primer, my favorite primers, fingers, brushes etc. and you’re right, their customer service and shipping are terrible and just seeing the way they interact with people on IG is so gross

Smooth-Broccoli6540

Notoriously Morbid. The products are fine, have never had an issue with quality (other than their perfumes- those go bad in months, total waste of $). But the customer service is garbage, shipping times are ridiculous, and the way the owner plays the victim if anyone ever complains about anything and sends their minions to trash people is gross.

BackgroundPie5106

Muse beauty. Saw my faves hyping them out so much I gave them a try. Super patchy... Specially the lighter shades.

ashleevee

Copacetic’s formula is a huge letdown. I definitely got a few really good singles from them, but others are awful. Almost all of the mattes I have from them have broken :/ I’ll be honest, I didn’t like Nomad’s formula at first, the mattes are super powdery and just blend away to nothing, but I’ve grown to like them a lot more, and I think their formula has improved! I’ve figured out that their older mattes just need a really good primer. But their customer service is incredible! I had a whole order come broken and they resent it free of charge and told me to keep the damaged products, which I really appreciate it. I hate when companies want you to send broken stuff back bc it’s such a hassle

Wolfwoods_Sister

Y’all are always such an education for me. I read these threads just to see what’s up and learn so much.

damselinadress187

Unearthly Cosmetics/Formerly Alien Cosmetics I like the products generally but she prices somethings too high and rarely shows swatches when announcing a new palette, and it's like why are you not showing swatches at all when you expect ppl to buy? She's gotten better but still needs work.

LovePeek123

Has their formula improved? I have 2 palettes and their junk. Had to try them. In the dark and fairly frolic

damselinadress187

She supposedly improved the 2 shimmers in In The Dark recently. I have both of those as well and rarely reach for them, AIEW, Lore, Strawberry Milkshake, Poison Apple and Hauntingly Glamourous and while I kinda like some of the more interesting shades they're definitely not standalone palettes for me -i probably like 2 shades from each one so it's a hassle to incorporate other palettes if I wanna use them. Imo, meh- not the best, not the worst but overhyped for sure and as stated earlier, CS is definitely lacking and shipping is usually 20+ days. Basically typical PRC private label fare, although I haven't tried any of the more recent ones.

akmiller2010

I wanted to love Give Me Glow cosmetics but I just don't think the formula is that great. The mattes are soooo dry and hard to blend and the shimmers just look extra textured on my lids. The colors are stunning but I just don't love the formula.

profcatmom

I wish they’d make normal sized pans. I like their formula but they take up so much room.

dizzyspell

The Juicy Olive palette was my first GMG purchase - which I still love! - so I ended up getting the original pastel singles bundle, then Vivid Rose and Pastel Dreams. The pastel singles are fine, but I've since decluttered the other two palettes. The mattes are SO hard-pressed and require too much building up; I agree that they're super dry, so they also emphasize my lid texture. Meanwhile, even with a glitter glue, the shimmers immediately turn into satins on my lids. They have beautiful color stories, but I won't be buying from them anymore because I can't count on their formula.

tempghost11

JD Glow getting exposed as anti-choice literally the DAY my custom palette came in from them was pretty disappointing. 😒

Archaeogrrrl

You do the best with the knowledge you have at the time. (Early pandemic indie yarn dyers - yeah, is a thing - were hurting. I ordered about 200 bucks worth of yarn from a moron who outed herself as full on hardcore racist trash. I even overdyed that yarn and I STILL can’t use it. If you can use it and be happy with it, use it. Makeup has a lifespan, yarn does not. My wtAf purchase can sit and wait for me to not hate it lol)

WeekendJen

I remember going down a rabbit hole one day and I ended up in some online magazine for knitters, but it was run by a bunch of MAGA people that were ostracized from polite knitting society or something? Shit's wild in the fibercrafts.

Archaeogrrrl

Okay so THE fiber online community since the early oughts was/is Ravelry. In 2020, the owners took a stand and started blocking hate speech. Period. So a whole bunch of MAGA morons cried MAH FREEEEE SPEEEEECH, and formed their own community. A community where apparently it’s okay if you don’t understand that the Constitution. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (Then Rav did a fucking UI overhaul, screwed up a BUNCH of shit for visually impaired users - honestly, you can do all kinds of fiber work even fully blind - so there was another, smaller exodus.) Edit - ALSO check out knitty.com for a bad ass online fiber zine.

Comfortable_Youth_74

Honestly disappointed with Spoiled Lips Cosmetics and their new Tiki Palette. Wish they would have been more mindful of the way their appropriating things from a culture they aren’t part of. Like the campaign photos are just a white girl in hulu garb, didn’t even try to include someone who’s Polynesian.

Muumol

That is disgusting I never heard of them but I’ll never buy from a brand that does that.

TargetUnusual

Adept Cosmetics disappoints me because they reformulate almost every launch or just completely change it. I wait for them to drop and then wait a few more months for the remastered version.

PotsyWife

Also that whole ableism episode

friendersender

Midas. I got a single shadow and it was a mess. It didn't break but it had fallout from the pan.

IHiThanks

trixie cosmetics. Fell for 2 blush palettes, can't get the center shades to show, and the darker shades are way too dark and patchy

antonia_dreams

Every time I see someone use trixie cosmetics I think it looks patchy. Like there is a youtuber I like who LOVES trixie but I don't think it looks that great quality when she uses it. I can literally see the patchiness in her blending. Also I find her color stories strange.

somethingelse19

Jenn from Fundie Fridays? She's the only one I know who talks about Trixie during her videos.

PeepsUnderTheBed

I was seriously thinking of getting the new Trixie x KimChi collab, but decided to pass. I haven’t actually seen too many reviews on Trixie

jettblack92

I FEEL THE SAME WAY!!!!!! Like people don't want to post a review bc they will get attacked by all the stans. I myself have not seen a collection that's interesting enough to purchase.

Sparepartsbud1994

I got the Trixie and Katya collab and the shades in both pallets are hit or miss. I was so disappointed with the red and the black in the Katya pallet. I do love her lipstick formula though but I prefer a dry matte formula

jettblack92

Damn that's disappointing...

vampyrbats

Trixie won’t use her own products in her videos & is always reading patchy products to filth saying her formulation is better. My mind is blown, it makes sense now lol.

Objective-Bad-8104

Jd Glow Cosmetics I ordered their new multichromes when they came out and was so disappointed they have nothing to do with the swatches and videos on their instagram so never again.

West-Investigator504

They're also anti choice, so there's that as well....

Objective-Bad-8104

Yes with that too it's easier not to order from them anymore, unfortunately I found out too late..

mcguik3

Is it the pastel ones? I had seaweed from a long time ago and liked it then ordered two of the newer ones they dropped that are more like pastel vibes and OMG it is so hard pressed it is unusable and once you can scrap it to use it it just looks like shit. I’ve never felt so bamboozled by something I ordered

theEvilAunt2202

It'sBel Cosmetics. I've often considered doing a dedicated call-out post because of how angry and frustrated I was at the time. The first bit was likely my fault, but I'll let you'll weigh in on it. So I order. I notice it's been 3 weeks, and the goods haven't shipped. I email customer service, who take 4 DAMN DAYS to get back to me and rudely tell me this was a preorder and I need at wait at least another month. To be clear, I buy a lot of make up online, and specifically on indie brands I ALWAYS make sure to check for preorders. I am sure I would have seen if it was marked as a pre-order. Be that as it may, I apologise for misreading the website when I bought it, and got my head down waiting. For about 3 months. Then the thing gets shipped. It took 3 more months for the thing to allegedly get to my country. Tracking says it has arrived here. I phone the local sorting centre where tracking says the parcel is. Thney have no record or receiving my parcel. At this point its been about 7 months. So I've paid for Route parcel insurance, and contact Route. That are incredible. They ask if I want a refund or replacement, I obviously choose refund because replacement was going to be another preorder. Get referred back to ItsBel to issue the refund. 3 days, no money and no feedback I ask what's happened. "it will be processed when we get there" 2 weeks since refund granted, still no money. THEN I GOT THE RUDEST EVER CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSE. I tell them I've been waiting 2 weeks for my money. They send me a RUDE email, saying that they released the money and I must contact my bank. They attach NO proof of the refund being given, or even a reference number that I can use to query with my bank. I get my refund about a week after. I believe they only processed it after the nasty email, and they lied at first about authorising the refund. I'm still kind of keen to post all of this with receipts to warn you unsuspecting bystanders not to be tempted by them

profcatmom

I have been buying some indie for a while now and I have *opinions.* - Klarity Kosmetics. I bought the now-discontinued Glam and Go palette. The mattes were incredibly powdery and messy. Shimmers were oily and creased. Major disappointment because I like their color stories. - Looxi. I bought the shadows after the formula change. They’re nothing special, randomly shatter out of the pan for no reason, and crease if I don’t use glitter glue. You get what you pay for there. - Shroud Cosmetics. I avoided the major chaos with the BeautBean palette, but I did buy it later. There’s a lot to like about the brand, but the mattes fade on me like crazy. I’ve never had it happen with other brands. It’s a shame because the shadows are so pigmented and the shades are really unique. - Glamlite. I have a long-standing bone to pick with Glamlite because I think their formula was/is so overrated. The shimmers are weird, and the mattes in the ice cream dream palette wouldn’t build at all and were patchy. I like their gloss formula a lot but they all smelled horrible. Cherry on top: their website does not accept sub 5 star reviews. - Give Me Glow. I actually like what I’ve gotten from them, but the pans are too big. Don’t give me glow. GIVE ME NORMAL PANS. - Laura Lee Los Angeles. This actually hurts to admit because I haven’t quite gotten the courage to declutter this palette yet. I lusted after the Nudie 2 for so long. Then I got the palette. The mattes were soooo dry and the shimmers were much darker on the eye than they look in the pan. Customer service was good, but the palette makes me sad.

dailydoseofrose

Wow at Glamlite not accepting reviews lower then 5 stars. Speaks volume. And not in a good way. Never was interested in trying them anyway alone for that food design. Agree with GMG - wish they do smaller pans ! Absolutely this.

prncessbelle

Kaleidos customer service. I ordered three eyeshadow palettes and one of the shadows in a palette arrived broken. Their solution was for me to repress it and sent me instructions on how to do so..that part was nice but I would have preferred them to send the single eyeshadow as a replacement or offer a slight discount.

Monstermunchmuch

This frustrates me so much. I've been buying from them when they were still less well-known and back then, their customer service was SO good. Like you'd get an answer within the day and they were so friendly and helpful. Now, last time I emailed, I basically got my head torn off, because I dared to ask why the tracker wasn't updating a month after receiving a shipping notification.

Lilly_Beans

Kaleidos wins this hands down for me. I've fallen for several of their releases. To this day I still really want to like them. Their style seems so fun and most reviewers seem positive about them. The first problem I have is their shipping times. Four months to wait for a highlighter that 'can't be tracked' is yucky. By the time I got the product I ordered I didn't care anymore. The second problem is that the irl swatches look off compared to what I saw online. After decluttering everything I've gotten from them, I've accepted they're not for me.

Livid-Blackberry7691

Glamlite is overhyped. The formula is awful. I don’t know why people like them?? The mattes are so muddy and they blend each other away. Love Luxe Beauty. Just no. I have a lot of their shadows and they’re awful. I like the highlighters but they break very easily.

profcatmom

I forgot about Love Luxe Beauty! Yeah, their stuff is mad overpriced for what you get, and nothing is really that unique.

dandylyon1

Shroud Cosmetics I will never forget the Beaut Bean saga and how many lies were told for profit

_AngelicVenom_

Yeah, that was pure awful and I haven't seen much improvement. I unfollowed a while ago and haven't looked back.

envy-adams

I think I'm too dumb for my Clionadh multichromes. They never look great on my lid.

Alia_Explores99

Blush Tribe was pure trash. The lack of any quality at all was astounding.

ashleywilkes1862

Blush Tribe and Certify are owned by the same people. Just to warn you of a brand that also may disappoint you.

Alia_Explores99

Weren't they sisters? It was years ago, so I may not be remembering correctly

clearancerackemo

Hipdot (if that counts). The MCR collections have been such ordinary quality. I have both the Three Cheers and the Danger Days collections. The eyeshadows are just fine. The liners aren’t great. The eye base sucks. So I won’t be buying the Black Parade collection or anything else from the brand.

porkchop_47

I received a broken eyeshadow from Devinah once, and while they gave me a gift card as a refund of the shadow it was only the subtotal amount. Which I don’t think is fair considering that I would have to still pay $5 for shipping and taxes as well.

pestercat

I've had not good experiences with their formula, too. I have a duochrome that's gorgeous for about an hour, then it's just mud-- even with a primer and with glitter glue. The mattes I ordered got kind of crumbly after a year.

JudgeJudysApprentice

Lunar beauty (though dunno if that's more mainstream really cos of Manny being an influencer) Their customer service is none existent. Been trying to get some help re their products since may, sent multiple emails and get no reply. It's the email on their site. Also tried Twitter and nothing there either. If they won't even answer queries, makes make so glad I never ordered directly from them (always used other stockists cos of customs etc) cos I know if I had any issues, I'd get ignored completely

CCChic1

Seems like companies that start with K have it in for me. Kara eyeshadows blend away to nothing or get muddy on my eyes. I bought three of their palettes and just couldn’t make them work. Karity swatches so beautifully but is a chunky mess on my eyes. I want to try Klarity because the colors are so pretty but reviews are quite mixed. I’m buying high end/luxury because returns are so much easier if it doesn’t work.

ashleywilkes1862

Based off the comments, it seems EVERY indie brand has had an "indiscretion" but I like to give them second or third chances because their stuff is way better than mainstream. With that said, I would NEVER give Killer Queens a second chance. They lie and never deliver your order. I've had to file a Paypal dispute to get my money back! They should not be allowed to have a Shopify store! Also, Itsbelle, though less of a bad thing. They have too many rules for customers who simply want to order their stuff. Check this, check that, your order may be cancelled, etc. It's crazy. Shine by SD. I ordered a $100 collab palette and both leaked red goo everywhere! And the eyeshadow really wasn't worth $100 for 6 shades. It wasn't really that good. Last is Blend Bunny cosmetics. They basically released 2 of the same palettes and charged over $40 for them! To me that's way too much for private label product.

PayyyDaTrollToll

I might be odd man out… Lunar Beauty. I always heard amazing things so I bought the Nude Prism palettes. The shimmers are pretty but the mattes are just meh to me. Also I bought one of the lip oils… even with the cap screwed on very tightly it slowly leaked out in my purse therefore I used it up completely very quickly. Also after the the lip oil would wear away, my lips would be extremely dry. That doesn’t happen with our lip oils I use.

recoveryfrommakeup

Shroud Cosmetics... the initial release of the It's Freakin Bats palette was such a mess. I will never oder from her again.

R1ngBanana

Amy Lee Cosmetics for their questionable shade names/ palette choices. But they’re also not around anymore I think so nothing of value lost

orchidroot

this pains me to say because i’ve become so fond of their palette artwork and color stories, but i received a cracked highlighter from a recent order with Unearthly Cosmetics and i wasn’t offered a replacement, refund or in the very least a discount. to be fair when i first reached out i sent a photo and simply asked if they thought the formula would crumble more since it was puffed up and cracked along 2 edges, but their reply was “we’re sorry this happened, that formula should not crumble.” quick and direct, but i was hoping for more. i just felt bad speaking up to an indie brand bc i try to empathize with smaller businesses. so i sent a follow-up saying great, can you take care of it if something does happen in the future, for peace of mind? and after more consideration, i asked for either a replacement or refund. preferably a replacement bc i have an outstanding order that hasn’t been shipped out yet. i know it’s a small team so hoping i hear back sooner vs later but i was planning to make another purchase during their sale until i realized i should wait until this is resolved. tbd but i hope to update (or delete this post) due to good news! p.s. i still love their Low Light palette and haven’t had the heart to use my Sleepover palette yet bc the pans are so beautiful ha! pps i agree the website could showcase better swatches etc but i’ve been able to find what i need thru their IG and other content creators. and something about watching the owner’s videos on YT made the brand more endearing to me. i hope this has a happy ending!!
