Well folks, as the crowd is filtering out of Border Stadium here in jubilant mood it's time for the round up. We had a great game here tonight with early fireworks following by great pitching and just enough excitement at the end to keep us glued to our screens. The Highlanders, coming off a miserable defeat against the Crawdads came firing out of the gate, knocking in 2 runs courtesy of a Trevor Rose double followed by a Phillip Dunphy home run. Acadia, not to be outdone in front of their home fans responded in similar fashion as Drew Ekstrum took Johnny Dickshot deep and single handledly removed them from the top of the pitching Leaderboards. Just two batters later James Pablano stepped in and promptly sent another ball over the fence to tie the game up - just 4 outs had been recorded and we'd seen 4 runs already. In the second inning Gastings allowed a leadoff walk then promptly dispatched the side in order and the Peregrines came up to a bouncing home crowd hoping for more runs. Dickshot was forced to leave the game for dental distress and Jordan Peppers stepped in for a hastily arranged long relief outing. While Peppers dealt with the first two hitters in short order, Dick Nutter got the better of them, knocking a 4-diff dinger out of the park to put the Peregrines up 3-2. Gastings had a little trouble in the shape of back-to-back singles but a handy double play got them out of there safely, and the first batter of the bottom of the inning, Burgess Whitehead, came up with an obvious plan that paid off straight away, sending yet another long ball deep in to the seats to bring the score to 4-2. For those keeping tracks that's 5 home runs in fewer than 3 innings between these two teams. 4-2 is how the score would stay until the 6th, although both teams had their chances with the Highlanders manipulating their way to a runner on third with nobody out in the top of the 4th and failing to score, while the Peregrines got a runner on third with 1 out in the bottom of the same inning and also failed to bring them home. In the the 6th with time running out the Highlanders hit a 2 out single followed by a laser of a double to bring themselves within 1 run with a runner on second but a last minute pinch hit to bring up rookie Paulie Oak failed to pay off and YE Wally recorded their first and only out to secure the win for the Peregrines. So we move to the awards section. Our first HM is awarded to Ryan Gastings, the Acadia starting pitcher. Although they had a rough start to the game, they settled well and pitched quite nicely. Second HM is Jordan Peppers of the Highlanders. A short notice long relief outing is a tough ask but 8 strikeouts in 4 innings is worth taking note of. I'll take the liberty of naming a third HM here too and that'll go to Phillip Dunphy. With a 2 run dinger in the first they got the party started and gave the Highlanders an early lead. The final award is a tough one, with so many dingers, and big ones at that I'm going to go with the stat that really matters here - runs on the board. Burgess Whitehead hit a 10-diff dong in the 3rd that would prove to be the difference maker by the end of the game and for that they're this week's Player of the Game. Well folks, that's about all from me. Thanks, once again, for joining us on Sunday Night Baseball, I've been Bobby Bellbottoms aka Devil Hernandez. Good night.

Paulie Oak in the box now, after being called in to the game by their GM in an outstanding display of faith. Paulie's a rookie this year in MLN and is so far hitless in 9 plate appearances. Will the tenth of their young career be the first? YE Wally is the pitcher that's trying to make sure that isn't the case. Coming in to the game to secure the final out after Gastings had a little wobble late on, Wally has pitched 7.1 innings so far this year and allowed only 1 earned run. Of course, the runner on second won't go against Wally's stats if they score but that's beside the point - Wally has one job - shut. it. down. Here's the pitch...a high fastball that Paulie sniffs at...1-0. The second is a curveball that Paulie chases but can only foul off to the right...1-1 Another fastball now, high again but Paulie is fooled and swings underneath it...1-2 Paulie steps out of the box to gather themselves, Wally, in turn, does the same; pacing around the mound muttering into his glove. Everybody takes their positions once again and the pay-off pitch comes in. Another fast ball, right down the chute, it's as middle-middle as you can put it, surely Paulie is swinging here?! Paulie keeps the bat on their shoulder! The Highlander's final out is a strikeout looking at the peachiest fastball we've seen all day! The Acadia Peregrines defeat the Halifax Highlanders by a score of 4-3! **Swing:** 23 **Pitch:** 522 **Diff:** 499 **Result:** K 3 outs, inning over

Well folks, we've had a heck of a game on this week's edition of Sunday Night Baseball haven't we? It really looks like this might be the end of the road for the Highlanders though; Gastings has been *dealing* in the late innings and hasn't shown any signs of letting up. Here comes Reese Worthington, representing the final out for Halifax. Reese has a hit already today so they'll be happy with that. Here's the 1-2 pitch...CRACK! Oh my word! This ball is hit hard over the infield and it splits the outfield! It'll roll all the way to the wall! Bill Stokes, running on contact with 2 outs makes a strong turn around third and scores standing up as Worthington takes second base with a 2 out double! The Highlanders will bring the the go ahead run to the plate here in the bottom of the sixth! **Swing:** 703 **Pitch:** 664 **Diff:** 39 **Result:** 2BWH 2 outs, Runner on 2nd

After Johnny Dickshot left the game for medical reasons, causing us to miss out on the much looked forward Dick vs Dickshot match-up, Jordan Peppers took the yoke and they've had a good start to their hastily arranged long relief outing. Up steps Nutter now though, looking to keep the party going here in Acadia after a firework filled first inning has been followed by a more sedentary second. Nutter takes a couple of pitches for strikes and Peppers is feeling good. They sent a fastball right down the middle to get Barney to roll over it, maybe that'll work again? NOPE! This ball is absolutely spanked into the air, high above the ballpark and it's got the legs to carry it into the second deck of left field! I did do that, didn't I? I've actually started a new enterprise, I'm calling it Bobby's Jinxes-4-U. For the low, low price of 10 bucks, I'll jinx on demand. For example, someone on the Highlanders slipped me a crisp Alexander Hamilton just before you swung and I whispered "True Pierce is a good hitter". James Pablano steps up now, they're leading the league in stolen bases with 3 and have yet to be caught so far this season. They say 'Hi' to Mike behind the plate with a wink. After the pleasantries, Dickshot looks in at Mike for the signs. It's hard to tell exactly from here but I'm guessing it was something like "Don't let this guy get on the basepaths!" Johnny nods; "No walks, message received!" Johnny goes into the wind and floats across a curveball. It's a nice one but Pablano takes it for a ball. 1-0. Another sign from Mike; "He's got no power, challenge him!" A fastball, then, dots the outside corner and James can't catch up to it. 1-1. "Again!" Mike tells Johnny, flashing a single finger between his legs. Here's the pitch, it's another fastball, but this one's neither up nor down and James likes the look of it! A big swing, a big CRACK and the ball is in the air! It's got the height, has it got the legs? Left fielder Reese Worthington is going back, at the warning track, at the wall, Reese jumps but he can't get there! The best pitcher in MLN this season against the best contact hitter in the Galactic League this season, a match up we've all been looking forward to. Dickshot has the upper hand surely, even with an incredible .600 average, Ekstrum isn't a power hitter by any stretch of the imagination. Still, the pitcher will want to try and keep the speedy lead-off hitter off the bases if they can. Johnny starts by nibbling the edges, a slider that sweeps across the plate and just clips the zone. Ekstrum steps back, nods, gets back in the box and settles. 0-1 A fastball now, Johnny wants to challenge the hitter early in the count and it's in at the top of the zone for a strike. 0-2 So 'what's next?' is the question. Ekstrum, yet to strikeout this season will surely be in protect mode. Dickshot meanwhile has the upper hand and knows that this hitter can be a little swing happy. Dickshot gets the sign from Litoris behind the dish; nods. Ekstrum readies, chokes up on the bat with a typical 2 strike approach. Here's the pitch... A fastball! Dickshot wants the punchy! But it's a bad spot...Ekstrum swings and... CRACK! The crowd rises to it's feet as this ball is pummeled in to the air! A roar builds from the stands, Ekstrum hasn't taken his eye off it, the centre fielder is going back, they've stopped, they've got no chance on this one as it lands among the trees out in the batter's eye! Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, Friends and Enemies, it's that time again! Sunday Night Baseball is back with yours truly, Bobby Bellbottoms at the helm and do we have a matchup for you?! The Acadia Pergrines, sitting in 3rd place Lunar division of the Galactic League with a 3-2 record will play host to the Halifax Highlanders who hold 2nd position in the Solar division. Until last session neither of these teams had shutout their opponents nor been shutout, but that changed as the Highlanders went down 3-0 to the Crawdads, with the offence providing just 4 hits and a walk. They'll surely be looking to find some of that spark they'd had earlier in the season again here today. For the hosts, in a strong division, a win is important to keep pace with the surging Ogaki Oni and formidable Gas House Gorillas. Runs have come relatively easy to this team early in the season but the pitching staff could be described as leaky - giving up 21 runs through the first 5 games. It's going to be interesting to see how this one plays out, so let's turn to field, watch the last warm up pitches fly and we'll get under way. Thanks once again for joining us, I'm Bobby Bellbottoms aka Devil Hernandez, and this is Sunday Night Baseball!
