T O P

I've had these hens for a few years now and they're inseparable and are always together. They do this thing where they'll squish together often touch beaks, just staring at each. Just wondering if anyone else has hens that do this or if you know what they're doing?

Archaic_1

They are gossiping about you

justinbieber4321

We like to think they're having a secret meeting

Urban-Chickens

I hope it's just gossiping and plotting...

Archaic_1

If they are like mine, they are probably complaining about the food

ThatFemSlashBitch

"I told you to get a reservation, but now here we are at this dump" 🤣

Intestinal-Bookworms

[They don’t plot, they don’t scheme, and they are not organized](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MMOV4kr-yTg)

thepixeldad

I don't know, but that's freakin' cute.

smooccimane

Confirmed

tigerlilly1234

Historians will say they were roommates

MontyGrail

But we all know they're actually Lesbi-hens.

Couple of hens being friens

BeanTheStitch

Sappho?

hella_elle

And her *friend *

forbiddenphoenix

Awww they're best friends! Hens and roos that like each other will groom each other's faces and sit close to each other 🥰 I always consider myself very lucky when one of my birds does a little love nibble to "groom" me!

Duamerthrax

I just reintroduced a roo back to his old flock and within five minutes, a hen was cleaning his cheek while he stood perfectly still.

forbiddenphoenix

Aww precious! I read that one of the fastest ways to a roo's heart was to practice "grooming" him yourself so he sees you as a member of the flock, so I usually greet my roo with a little peck of my fingers on his cheek 😊

kat_013

I will need to try this-my polish roo is an idiot and keeps thinking that I’m there to steal his ladies. 🤦‍♀️ I’m literally just here to feed you and collect eggs that NO ONE is sitting on…

forbiddenphoenix

Haha if that doesn't work, carrying them around is a great, non-aggressive way to assert your dominance. You want your roo to see you as the top roo but also recognize that you're not a threat to him or his girls ☺

Secure_Dinner_7208

Mine do that when sunning, after the morning forage. Probably because they were rescued together, on the way to someone’s dinner. Mom and Scooter are past 6 years now .

SuppleSuplicant

Awww besties. My flock of 5 was unfortunately reduced to 2. It took awhile for the new chicks to be ready for outside with the big girls. The 2 hens remaining became very close. One would put a wing over the other while they slept. Even once the pullets were introduced they stayed close to each other.

Urban-Chickens

I had 2 Wyandottes that sat like that as chicks. They're still pretty close, but I haven't noticed it fir awhile, but I'm not with them most of the day, so they still might.

kat_013

My wyandottes are pretty chill although Dottie isn’t the brightest bulb in the shed. As a chick she had a habit of sleeping in the water bowl and now she’s the only chook that doesn’t realize that she has to go into the coop to get the cracked corn instead of going through the hardware cloth

Exotic-Baby-Powder

They found each other! In the vast realm of chicken hood existence they found their person. We do the same :)

comfort_bot_1962

dingman58

I love this sub

hgtvemily

PreserveFreedom2021

DeflatedCatBalloon

They're contemplating each other's fluffs. I mean, look at that!

justinbieber4321

Ajb2791Cat

Beautiful girls!!!💖💖💖

galaxygirl888

Dinosaur lady chat. You know, primordial stuff us homo sapiens wouldn't understand.

kaydeetee86

Oh my heart! They’re so adorable.

bckpkrs

I can't answer this with any certainty, but I do know I'm teaching my 3 hens to do a nice to beak snoot boop just like with my cars and snake. Unlike the other animals, the hens will sit there with their beak touching my nose and look directly in my eyes. It's really pretty cute so it must be something in their genes to show bonding.

GregariousFart

I have one that lets me grab her beak and move her head side to side, while she stares in my eyes

Littlewittlefoot

Before my little other hen died two of them were always together, now she's a free roamer and doesn't choose to be with anyone but when the other one was alive they were always together :D it's kuuute

PoppiesnPeas

justinbieber4321

Pekin bantams! Loveliest little hens

NutmegGaming

Oh my god they were coop-mates

OsawatomieJB

They are admiring the floof

mrskontz14

My silkie couple does this! It’s sooo cute. They pancake down next to each other and will groom each other’s faces. They are codependent, lol. Is one of them a roo? They likely just really like each other and are showing chicken affection.

justinbieber4321

No both hens! Very adorable though

72runningguy

You’ve never watched Pinkie and the Brain cartoon….

Euphoric__Yak

The same thing we try to do every night…..

fitosy

Yep my hens do it too. I've also seen a hen do same to my cockerel, not sure why sorry🐓❤

Davey1708

I have two silkie roosters that do this

CaptSpazzo

If it's like ours they are wondering how to get the snacks out of the tub

Hopulence_IRL

It is cute, but is it possible they are cold? No idea what zone/country you're in, but maybe the feathers are floofed out to preserve heat? And being close to share heat? Or just in love; either one :)

forbiddenphoenix

They're pekins or bantam cochin, so just naturally that floofy! I have a cochin bantam mix myself and they are 100% BORB

justinbieber4321

Thanks for the the concern but thankfully this is just how they are year round haha I'm thinking just in love

s0nyamari3

AnyGoodUserNamesLeft

Adorable. Our Pip & Piper had 8 years together (as top hen and 2nd in command) and became inseparable with all things. When Piper started to slow down, Pip would sit with her all the time.

Pressured_Destiny

Chicken-hub ._ .
