I was assuming the tail was behind the chameleon but I looked at the chameleon on a full laptop screen. It does seem the tail is quite short, maybe removed by a predator. Chameleons can't usually regrow their tails. Generally speaking, the tail gives some balance support, but this chameleon is compensating without it.
This chameleon was filmed in southern Spain by the beach, and it is sometimes called the Mediterranean chameleon since it is found mainly around that sea as well as the Red Sea. I've also been bitten by a chameleon in Morocco when I tried to feed it a small slither of chicken - I guess the chameleon thought it wasn't kosher (halal).
Fun fact: Chameleon tongues are considered among the fastest on Earth: If a chameleon tongue was a car, it could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 1/100th of a second—among nature's fastest, strongest performances, according to researchers. https://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/article/160105-chameleons-tongue-speed-animals-science
Awww this video is so cute, the lady filming is rooting for the chameleon. She even gets scared for him when it reaches out for the wire with its hands. She even calls him champion at one point lol

LOL - tbh, I didn't notice on the small phone screen this chameleon had a "curtailed" tail! I checked on a larger laptop screen, and sure enough, the poor fella lost its tail. The tail is *normally* quite useful.
I think that is usually called "barbed wire". Razor wire, from my experience, actually has some razor-looking attachments on the wire. https://wanzhifence.com/razor-wire-vs-barbed-wire/
One of the best predators on Earth if you think about it. Very stealthy, long sticky tongue, can climb very well, and almost never misses because of its excellent eyesight.
Hungry boi! I was worried about his tongue and the barbed wire but it seems it was another successful meal.
Did this chameleons tail get eaten?

Hopefully, 🤞 he may have hurt it and we just can't tell.
Goes to show you can be awkward and slow af, but stealth and a big gun will get you dinner. 👍
The impact of the tongue on an insect is enough for it to be stunned by the force. https://asknature.org/strategy/chameleons-launch-ballistic-tongues/
Same.
that gave me the best idea for a tortol Rouge in dnd 😲
ive really gotta get my head outta the gutter, i cracked up at this way too hard for all the wrong reasons
Olé indeed
Also helps to have all that core strength.😁
I have a very grumpy panther chameleon, I give her the best life possible but she still bites me when I change her water lol

It’s a sauropsid-eat-sauropsid world, I guess.
I hope the chameleon didn't get a tongue piercing with dinner lol
I think that was a distinct possibility, but the chameleon fared well, but the dragon fly did not. It's aim was impeccable.
Is this chameleon breaking out of prison?
"That prison food was awful, just canned insects...." (this chameleon)

In the plant kingdom, the Chinese witch hazel ejaculates the fastest in nature at 12m/s https://youtu.be/UewV_ZSLdmg
It seems that could injure or kill a person.
Common common common common chameleaaaan
Came here for this
Lol it’s actually karma chameleon. 😂
r/whoosh
Oh sorry. I didn’t realize it was a pun. 😅
Looks like my grandma with sweets on the table
Thank you posting and continuing to provide cool facts to the commenters. You’re cool as a chameleon, OP. 🦎
Well, that's the educator in me...And, I'm also learning too!
I thought this was a slowmo of a frog 🤣
I just love how this chameleon stands up on its back legs and grabs the upper wire with its front leg "Now, this is more sturdy. Bug, come to papa!"
I worry about the little guys eyes next to the barbed wire. He probably knows what he's doing though
Awww this video is so cute, the lady filming is rooting for the chameleon. She even gets scared for him when it reaches out for the wire with its hands. She even calls him champion at one point lol
Can you provide a translation of what she is saying?
“Olé”
I love chameleons, they’re so cute. They have interesting personalities compared to other lizards
🎶 common common common common common chameleooooon..! 🎶
Glad I looked through the comments before posting this! 😊
If you ever want to feel like a chameleon, dry foods like popcorn or small chips/crackers will stick to your tongue just like a chameleon eating bugs
Pringles are my go-to feeding-like-a-chameleon form of entertainment.
These legs night look scrawny but to hold a stable position at a45 degree like that ain't no joke
It was funny watching the chameleon flail a front arm about to get steady grip.
Is this Florida? Lol

That us a lot of work for one fly.
I think that was a skeeterhawk ok, dragonfly, not just a regular fly.
I'm still too lazy
“It also uses its prehensile tail for balance and stability” What tail?! Lol

If I tried that, I would just have to hope the bug falls to the ground with me.
I've never been more proud of a lizard I don't know catching a bug!
ZOT!
Or was it more of a "thwack!"?
Me with the towel when my ex gets out the shower😊🤭
Love the grasp of the additional razor wire. Needed stability to absorb that recoil

Ah, thanks!
Spider chameleon
Awesome
That's a huge ass dragon fly!
Chameleons are super smart. Their hands are great to watch. Tiny mittens
Common common common common chameleon. You come and go, you come and goooooooo.
What a cute lil guy 🥰
Excuse me!!!!! Mr Zuckerberg!!! Are you available for comment?!??
Why is this a vertical video cropped landscape
I didn't take the video - I'm guessing this is phone video, and I know it was taken in southern Spain near the Mediterranean Sea.
I hope it didn’t cut its tongue on the barbed wire.
I feel like this isn’t awww for the fans of dragonflys
Yes, I totally agree - but for fans of chameleons, it is ok I think. There are millions of dragonflies for each chameleon in the world.
That core strength
