Jalapeno saltines. ETA: cucumber mint tea bags.

ATXPibble

I must find this…

DAnthony24

Yep! Came here to contribute this. The spicy ones are good. The Chile limon are ok. But the jalapeño ones are fire!!

HookerDoctorLawyer

I think they have the best fresh squeezed OJ

bull_black_nova

They do! I don’t even wait to get home to drink it.

SofaSnizzle

In store made Salsa is really good

evilbutler

I go through at least two containers a week -- hands down my favorite salsa. So good on eggs and black beans :)

WelcomeToBrooklandia

Salsa Ranchero is WORLD CLASS stuff.

Redditisbadforyou58

I'd take the Cocina Fresca Serrano salsa over 95% of restaurant table salsas.

phenotyp

Smoky Citrus has been the staple of my life. Traveling is hard, because nothing anywhere else comes close.

WelcomeToBrooklandia

Their Refried Charro Beans are VERY good.

kalpol

Also the borracho beans in Shiner sauce

HomeBuyerthrowaway89

This is a weekly staple for me. So good

wildcat623

Mi Tienda line

WelcomeToBrooklandia

Oh, those are great too, but I really just meant the HEB-brand refried beans. Compared to the refried beans I used to get when I lived in the Northeast, the HEB ones are a revelation.

ChavaF1

If you like refried beans try la Sierra.

Xanzent

The [Mi Tienda refried beans](https://www.heb.com/product-detail/mi-tienda-refried-pinto-beans/1705165) in the refrigerated section are the best. Got them as part of a Combo Loco and they've been my go-to refried beans ever since.

[deleted]

Don’t ask how but I ended up following a lot of H‑E‑B managers on Instagram and they independently post about how mi tienda is superior to the other heb brand alternatives

MarfaStewart

Share the wealth! What accounts?

searcherparty

With chorizo!

shmelse

Hate this thread, love you all, I’m so hungry - why are there no snacks at my house????

FickenA

The HEB carbonated waters. Better than LaCroix and Waterloo and cheaper too

Clugg

Their caffeinated carbonated waters are good too

beast_wellington

Remember when they were $2.25?

homelander_Is_great

The Heb version of topochico is really good love the mango one

certified_anus_beef

We’ve dubbed it FauxPo at my house.

IRideRoombas22

Ah yes, the Topo Cheapo.

gaperon_

1877 FTW.

janetsnakeholemaclin

Love them. And so affordable! (though they recently went up in price)

SteamboatMcGee

Oh for real, and they added new flavors in the last year or so too. The black cherry one is the best, but they'll all good.

Blu_E92

Yes! The unsweetened cranberry+raspberry is great

sej_15

love the orange!!

evil_hugh

RIP passionfruit

Least_Adhesiveness_5

HEB bakery tortillas. Accept no substitute. Note: they're even better if you reheat them on the stovetop right before you eat them.

raescabies

I'm going to piggyback off of this and also recommend the HEB bakery tortilla chips. They're perfect with guacamole!

Samswiches

Chille lime flavor ones are dopetastic!

raescabies

Never seen those! My HEB sells out of the basic ones so quick I wouldn't be surprised if they're just never in stock.

LivermoreP1

I go direct flame on the gas stove

jeffsterlive

That little bit of char.

oSpid3yo

How the fuck else do you eat a tortilla?!?

Geo4626

Straight from the bag, as soon as I get in my car

sharakus

So glad I’m not the only one, I never even make it out the parking lot…..

jeffsterlive

Entire bag of 10 is gone faster than a Nissan Altima with paper plates is going down the toll road.

jwp75

So many people don't know yo heat their tortillas. Like eating corn tortillas right from the bag for tacos.

007meow

🤢

Unoriginal920

Way too much scrolling to find this. My favorites are the half corn and half flour.

Macho_Mans_Ghost

#MIXLA

suddenlypandabear

Those things are amazing

RyleeAnnie32

The butter tortillas 🔥

neatoburrito

Butter tortillas have always been too buttery for my tastes. Plain flour or nothing.

lieutenantLT

H‑E‑B naan bread Also ginger snaps

insurlifeance

Specifically the garlic naan

fahhko

Banana bread flavor chocolate covered pecans

EyeHeartMilk

This reads like a madlib. Like, did they just put a bunch of ingredients into a bag and randomly draw a few? Don't get me wrong, I want to try them right this second but... Huh?

fahhko

I have no idea who at H‑E‑B comes up with this stuff, but it’s obviously some sort of mad scientist.

hereticx

I deeply love every word used in this sentence. But these are strangely disgusting lol

Prune_Super

Say what now?!?

DisgruntledRaspberry

I'm not a huge soda drinker but recently I was pleased to find that they have the store brand sodas in those little mini cans now. So much cheaper than the name brand soda mini cans and just as good or better tasting. They are even on sale right now. Great when you just need a little bit to make a root beer float or whatever.

Where_Are_My_Kittens

The HEB brand Pure Cane Sugar soda. OMG! Sweet without the name brand Coke burn. Hard to find post-apocalypse. I stock up whenever it’s there. Look for the pale gold 12 pack box/cans.

Superb_Swordfish2723

Any of the H.E.B. Swoon ice cream! The blueberry strudel is amazing. Well they all are!

Front-Field7864

BRUHHHH the banana s’mores one is the best ice cream I’ve ever had!

No_Interest1616

Came here to hype the banana s'mores. It is made of magic.

thatsquirrelgirl

Their watermelon sorbet Is unreal.

nitrokitty

Nobody has mentioned the salted caramel yet. Bruh.

Valus_

Cookie Lovers is the love of my life

Macho_Mans_Ghost

We just got introduced last week... Holy fuck

thepantsofsam

Key Lime Pie is my favorite. My husband loves the honey cake one, idk what it's called. Banana s'mores is amazing, as well.

ididion1

I’ve added like 8 things to the cart in my H‑E‑B app while reading this thread.

pnutfish05

New to me, but the HEB Sweet n Sassy trail mix. You’re welcome.

username_win

The cajun heat one is like crack to me

bgottfried91

The mixed berry lemonade trail mix is excellent - if you liked the berry lemonade chips, the trail mix is even better.

Stock_Intern_7450

And PB Lovers ❤️

Straight_Proof_3471

their queso blanco is so good. love their trail mixes, both packaged and self-serve mixes

KingJustinian-an-ass

The H‑E‑B “sweet onion” chips are so good! I’ve paid the same price for a small single serving of “sweet Maui Onion “

Dannydoes133

HEB mozzarella sticks. You get like 40 in a bag for the same price as 10 shitty TGI Friday’s one’s.

1ce9ine

Creamy Creations Mexican Hot Chocolate Ice Cream. HOE LEE SHEEEIT that stuff is amazing. It’s the only thing keeping me sane after getting my wisdom teeth out.

zphyr03

Their *spicy* guac is the best guac I’ve ever tasted! And also heb brand sparkling water - the lemon flavored ones are amazing

Dr-Bobby-Banner-MPC

Central market branded maple cream cookies

Charlesmw

Wait until the Pumpkin Spice cookies come out for the holidays, they’re even better!

trainwreckchococat

They’re out! I just tried this. So good.

DisgruntledRaspberry

OMG I was scrolling by too fast and my brain read "Central market branded nipple cream".

jeepdatroll

Their marinated chicken fajitas are the shit!

Stock_Intern_7450

And beef!!

moinatx

All the marinated chicken breasts are good. The Teryaki and Sweet Chili are my faves

Najalak

I haven't tried the chicken but the beef are amazing. During the pandemic they only had other brands for a while. They did not compare.

ATXKLIPHURD

Fudge mint cookies. They're like thin mints but better I think. And they're less than $2. There's a little picture of a cookie holding a gavel because fudge mint kinda sounds like judgement but it also kinda looks like the judge is about spank another cookie with its gavel.

Chef_Maam_I_yam

Haha glad I’m not the only one that sees that on the package

ATXKLIPHURD

https://imgur.com/a/OvbSa3d

addictedtobit

that cookie is being sodomized lmaooooo

Ornery_Tackle_767

MiTienda Flour Tortillas - ready to cook in refrigerated section

gregaustex

Rotisserie chicken salad. Just scoop it with ritz.

both-quinn-and-daria

My new favorite account! H‑E‑B Obsessed. They post cool products. https://instagram.com/heb_obsessed?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

havoc-weasel

Came here to say this

Ricktexatx

Their brisket queso is one of my favorites

Jemikwa

I'll give you one better, choriqueso (chorizo queso). The brisket one is alright, but the chorizo has so much more flavor that enhances the queso so much more

BipolarUnipolar

Is this the a-la-cart looking tray with some brisket, some cheese and some pico in it? Where you heat and mix yourself? That is something I have wanted to try.

Ricktexatx

Yup that is it. It is sooooo good!

ChzGoddess

Agreed! Also the jalapeño popper dip. Both extremely delicious and I'm sure very bad for you.

katyschu512

Ooh I’ve been eyeing this every time I go in!

Chelitamojita

Agreed, I can tear that queso up lol

corsairtact

I'm a member of this sub because I lived in Austin most of my adult life and many family members live there. This post has me almost in tears. I live in Florida now (love being by the beach - that's literally why I'm here) but Publix and Winn-Dixie can't come anywhere close to HEB. I'm seriously thinking of a road trip to the HEB that's closest to me (6055 South Fwy, Houston, TX 77004 - 963 miles), bring some coolers, and stock up on some of the good shit!

Nancy-Drew-Who

My parents moved to Louisiana last year to be closer to extended family and they bring up HEB at least once a month during our weekly calls. Last week, my dad literally said “HEB is just a really special place” and he sounded so forlorn. They’re having a hard time adjust to Piggly Wiggly lol.

ataloss

* HEB is such a special place * I have had 3 of daughter's birthday parties at Central Market! I LOVE HEB and CM.

phatwithaphd

Florida transplant in Texas here and I still get a Pub Sub every time I visit. Grass is always greener.

katec0587

I know several people who do this every time they visit Texas… you wouldn’t be alone! Also, ask local friends for an H-E-B care package!

m4verick03

My dude or dudette, we used to load my mother in law up like a drug mule, or any family for that matter, when she’d visit us in Reno. I’m in houston now and thank god they came to their senses and finally got HEBs.

Gdpabst

Wow. You must be reading my mind.. Im from central Texas, and currently in FLA. What you said.. I actually do, a couple times a year.. we go and load up on meat, and stuff. Just can't get the same here in FL.. Last trip we spent close to $400. In meats alone.. the brisket queso, OMG... AMAZING..

peglegjeff

Ugh, as a former Austinite living in Wisconsin I feel this bad. As soon as I started reading the comments I knew I shouldn’t have opened this thread…

Wizard_of_Ahs

Their Dark Chocolate Non Dairy Ice cream is soooo good

AUSTIN_NIMBY

All their non-dairy ice creams are fire. Will probably put nada moo out of business.

gaperon_

Butter tortilla scented candles. I know, it's weird, but they do smell exactly like butter tortillas and make for a great random gift!

NebulousStar

Texas Poteet Strawberry ice cream (when it's in season).

ellenor94

The deli made tortilla chips are AMAZING. The only ones I buy!

No_Contribution2798

Big time crunch. True Texas BBQ pickles. Street corn “Doritos”

CoughFartSneezeCry

Taste of San Antonio coffee, might be well known idk, but I do know it do be good

Redditisbadforyou58

All the "Taste of" flavors are alright, but San Antonio is 10/10, only coffee I buy since trying it.

just4thispostalso

Texas Pecan is my go to.

SteamboatMcGee

Last time I drove to visit out of state family they asked us to bring bags of HEB coffee, lol, so at least some folks agree with you

justbeachyb

Taste of Houston is my favorite

ParrotZero

Crawfish Pie from the tiny Cajun food section in the frozen meat bunker.

flannaganshorts

Their Texas pecan coffee! I give it as gifts when I go out of town

ioncewasadoor

Unfortunately everything their brand produces is arguably better than the name brand item you’d get over it. Down to the freaking frozen stuff!

ferigno

I’m going to hate mentioning this, but do you like Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies? (Specifically the ABC Bakers version, IYKYK). Would you like a slightly better cookie for 1/3 the price? Hill Country Fare Fudge Mint cookies are a must try. You’ll find them usually “towards the end of the cookie aisle, on the bottom shelf” (this same description of location has been valid in the four H‑E‑Bs I’ve visited.

Busy_Struggle_6468

If they ever try to take away my precious Hill Country Fare, we riding

ferigno

No one would fudge us for doing so.

goffcart18

Central market hatch green chili hummus!

othinko

HEB starting making their own ranch (plastic bottle, not glass) and it’s amazing

Busy_Struggle_6468

That cranberry gorgonzola salmon burger has saved my life on many a night!

Redditisbadforyou58

I always go jalapeno cheddar salmon burgers, but you've inspired me to try this next time.

ATXPibble

I ate that 2-3 times a week during the OG Covid days

Busy_Struggle_6468

It’s the best one, followed by the bruschetta. When they start throwing cheddar cheese and bacon up in there, they lose me.

Terrible_Pace_6927

Central market (also HEB) has some Italian style sodas in glass bottles lots of different flavors and they are amazing

heymothernature

Hear me out. Those crazy “Late Night” flavored chips have all been DELICIOUS. It is fun to buy a few different kinds and have a Best Chip Flavor contest with them.

ineverreadit

HEB plain greek yogurt. it is the BEST. i use it in everything. 0 fat, 0 carbs, and a shit ton of protein. use it in your scrambled eggs, use it in your mac n cheese (HEB brand mac is less than a $), and mix it with siracha to make a spicy cool pink dip for your taquitos or w/e

picaresquity

Fun fact: most expensive Greek yogurts cost more because it's more labor intensive and requires more milk to strain the yogurt and get that thick texture. Most cheaper Greek yogurts take a shortcut and add pectin. HEB's Greek yogurt is the cheapest brand that still does it the traditional way.

vulturehop

Just want to add for anyone who doesn't know, it's easy to tell when they're using a thickener because the protein count will be much lower. Strained Greek Yogurt is around 25g per cup.

carrots_12

Mighty Crust Pizzas

s3thm

Is that their cauliflower pizza brand? They’re surprisingly good for a fake pizza

amygunkler

Yes! I don’t like cauliflower but I like those.

Ash3Monti

That Green Sauce is amazing on everything. My fav is enchiladas https://www.heb.com/product-detail/h-e-b-that-green-sauce-medium/1546369 Better Than Good Bacon Jam is great on sandwiches. I also like it on my brisket burgers https://www.heb.com/product-detail/better-than-good-bacon-jam/1533203

letsgoridingyall

That Green Sauce is so good. I can’t eat eggs without it anymore.

nebulize

The heb cheeze-its are better than the name brand, also a big fan of their tx sized english muffins

kingpin_kalin

Mark’s Good Stuff Salsa. We go through a jar of it a week.

iamkmi

The fresh HEB filled pasta is very good! The buffalo milk mozzarella and balsamic vinegar is my absolute fav. They’re in the prepared food section.

nitrokitty

The Salted Caramel Swoon ice cream is a goddamn masterpiece.

Creneem90

Tres Leche cake And their frozen fried rice. So good.

BroBeansBMS

Their tres leches is better than most restaurants I’ve been to in town.

Atxroaster

Queso Blanco, Cowboy Cookies, Cowboy Hamburger Meat and at Christmas time, the "Christmas in a cup" k-cups are some of my favorites.

reed20061

They used to have amazing frozen pizza dough (maybe still do but I can’t find it). Let thaw 24 hrs make amazing fresh-ish pizza at home in no time. If they still make it it’s in the frozen/bread section.

GetBent009

the milka bars in the international foods aisle, the triple cocoa one is my favorite

carnie85

Twisters: Mexican Hot Chocolate cookies... soo good

austinoracle

Central Market Natural Black Forest Bacon. I think my next grocery list will be comprised of everyone’s choice in this thread. Y’all coming with some HEAT.

EarthboundMisfit25

It's too late now... but for next year. Hatch Season. HATCH BACON! Bar none the best bacon I've ever had. I've learned to buy many and freeze them. They have a lot of green chili products that are also good, but the bacon is insane.

Clugg

Hatch season is my favorite because HEB looks at every item they make and go, “Hmmm, what if we hatchify it?”

Corgiboros

Mixla Tortillas. Half corn, half flower. In the tortilla aisle

CORPSE_PAINT

The Parmesan breaded green beans, brisket queso, the central market Italian sodas

searcherparty

Those green beans from the deli section are crazy good.

s3thm

The green beans in an air fryer for 10 minutes are fantastic

One-Plum8290

Heavenly delight cake

whatisboom

How has nobody said the [Carolina Reaper Cheese Puffs](https://www.heb.com/product-detail/h-e-b-carolina-reaper-pepper-nbsp-cheese-puffs-8-5-oz/3455542) yet?!

governator89

You have to make sure they’re the puffs though! They started selling normal Cheeto style Carolina reaper flavored ones now too, but the puffs are superior.

No_Contribution2798

The Carolina reaper cheese slices are great too.

job711

Gluten free brownie bites in the bakery. Even better than the regular brownie bites.

fsck101

Y'all are making me jealous because the temporary HEB at Congress/Oltorf has almost none of this stuff. I do occasionally make a trip to the Slaughter/35 store to get some of it. The temp store doesn't even have any fresh greens. Want a bunch of cilantro, or green onions? Too bad.

asscashandgrass

Central Market (if that counts) milk is this milk snob’s jam.

southpark

The H‑E‑B chips are really close to thin restaurant chips and made fresh locally. You can also see inside the bag so you don’t end up buying crumbs. The flakey butter rust rolls they do during the holidays are also top notch.

nscalem

Dill Pickle potato chips.

sunnypoolgal

Surprised no one has said 1905 Vanilla ice cream. soooo good! And Cocina Fresa (Fresca?) salsa in the produce department :)

Magic_Valley956

1905 vanilla is an H‑E‑B OG 🫡

123edcvfr456

The HEB White Cheddar Cheetos

No_Interest1616

They have a lot of fun potato chip flavors. Sweet onion is the best. I got the Thanksgiving stuffing ones today and they're good, but not quite as stuffing-y as I'd hoped.

babyfacebambi

I love the fresh squeezed OJ!

Olejiveassturky

The sweet jalapeño cheese puffs!

cmikesell

Not so much hidden gem, but if you ever see the Chewy Chocolate Pecan cookies in the bakery, get them!

sunshineandrainbow62

Chocolate hummus. Divine

thejacobwindsor

We all live in Austin don’t we??? Sounds like we’re having the ultimate snack party??? Why has no one else thrown this out there???

BahHumDoug

Do not sleep on HEB’s weird cereals. Mango corn flakes, dulce de leche corn flakes, horchata rice crispies, tres leches flakes, all that cerealology line they’re doing. There is a revolution on the cereal aisle, Fam.

liljonnyfrostbite

Sour cream donuts changed my life

caffeinatedostrich

Are they like the old fashioned cake donuts? I love those too. Used to get this really good huckleberry one from sidecar donuts

s0much2say

Their Diet Cola with lime. It’s my obsession

Famous-Space-2147

Jalapeno pimento cheese, Bola La Texana pizza (a splurge)

antidecaf

Their premade carne guisada is better than most restaurants guisada in Austin. Slap that onto an heb tortilla and you've got yourself a damn fine meal.

Automatic_Soup_9219

Sandra’s Salsa, it’s in the Dairy section near the cream cheese! It’s the only preservative free salsa and it took Sandra 17 years of hand making it before HEB gave her a chance! She’s now in all stores and is trying to release a verde salsa. Wonderful story.

kenman

Over 300 comments in an hour, this is madness lol.

evaughan

Not an item, per se, but the butchers at CM north Lamar and HEB Mueller have regularly gotten me some cuts off menu. Beef ribs, flap meat, and some other stuff they didn’t have out but “had in the back”. To me the hidden gem for HEB was getting to know these guys and getting great cuts or just really good guidance.

moodycompany

I’ve been addicted to the sparkling grapefruit water and enlightened cookie dough (the ones in the box not the little bites) lately

Smellmyhand

ALL of the queso. Better than most restaurant queso

dph51

HEB organics salad dressing, their scratch made bread and bagels too. Oh and their frozen Midtown pizzas are great too!

achilliesFriend

My daughter is constantly constipated, clear lax is cheaper alternative. Like half the price compared to miralax

[deleted]

Oh and the raspberry truffle ice cream (raspberry ripples, plus little chocolate truffles) has been our family favorite for decades...I can vividly remember my sister's pre-teen friends just digging out the truffles on the kitchen floor during sleepovers.

FartyPants69

Humble House Ancho & Morita hot sauce. I kept noticing guests on Hot Ones (YouTube) commenting how tasty it is, and they were right. Not really hot at all, just a savory/sweet alternative to BBQ sauce but with more complexity and nuance. I use it on potato & egg breakfast tacos I make every morning

Cochinojoe

Their reserved ham is good as fuck!! Throw it on a homemade pizza.

chickencaesardigby

Midtown Pizza!!!!!!!!!! Every other frozen pizza sucks balls in comparison.

buzzknocker

Pickup a jar of the Maya Kaimal Tikka Masala sauce, A tub of the cooked shredded chicken breast from the deli, and a package of their garlic naan. Combine the chicken and masala in a sauce pan. Simmer for 20 to 25 minutes. If you like it spicy…add jalapeño juice, sliced jalapeño peppers, and red pepper flakes for heat. Season and butter the garlic naan and toast it. Fantastic meal in less than 25 minutes. For bonus points cook up some basmati rice.

Bkdplight

I enjoy their prepared food section often; beef pinwheel filled with spinach, ricotta and olives is pretty good and a go to of mine. Frozen section has a good line of cauliflower crust pizza that’s surprisingly good. But the Italian gelato (tiramisu or salted caramel) are great and worth a try.

xenocide117

Swoon icecream is fantastic.

RevolutionaryClub530

GHOSTPEPPER RANCH CORN CHIPS

ElDuderrrino

Lemon Lime Chicharrones

Swill94

H‑E‑B low carb tortillas

32flavsandthensome

Heb oat milk. Peaches, nectarines and grapes currently are yes. Honestly all produce is generally a win. I love the flowers and heb frozen fruit for smoothies. Soon veggie ramen. Heb cesar salad bags (with bacon). Poke bowls. Melona mango ice cream bars. Helados Mexican ice cream bars.
