Just looking at ausfatfire and r/SMBAustralia I created around the time you started this we might struggle to make it work long term unless there are maybe a few thousand of us. Probably best if it’s a combination not just Henry to make it work due to our small population and then small amount using reddit for this purpose! Hoping this works though as ausfinance is awful

CalderandScale

Yeah, my first thought when I saw the 180k income threshold is that this sub would not get enough post volume to survive.

throwawayburner0

Yeah agree it needs to be more then that. Needs to be encompassing of fatfire etc

1iKnight

thanks for your comment this is actually isn’t only for HENRY. A lot of others who are not can benefit. Especially those aspiring to be part of the movement in their personal lives. it also is a finance related sub not like Ausfinance which has been diluted. also i think we will get a few thousands members soon. a bout a week past and there’s close to 1k

Tomicoatl

What scares me the most is all the people from r/australia and /r/ausfinance coming across to bring all the drama with them. Good luck to the mod team!

throwawayburner0

I think we need to be heavy handed on bans

Tomicoatl

It might work, it might not. At some point the mods will want more growth because it always inevitability happens and we'll be flooded by uni students again.

throwawayburner0

I think if it was even kept to a few thousand and was active it would be much better then 100,000. Quality over quantity

Yeanahyena

Pretty sure if you’re part of a specific sub you can automatically get banned from the sub you joined. It happened to me once. I think mods can set this up. Please no r/Australia posters here.

Tomicoatl

It’s just too big of a sub to wholesale ban. Someone that comments on a news article or meme post shouldn’t get banned from here for example.

tom3277

Yes my advice would be it would be a bit general. It's one thing for subreddits all about say having babies to ban people who have posted in another specific sub for antinatalists but r/Australia is the sub you get default notifications from when you first join reddit assuming you are in Australia.

CurvaParabolica

I am not in favour of doing automatic bans. People should be judged on their interactions with this sub alone

Motor_Report_802

You are now doing the same thing that they are, just from the other angle.

LegendoftheASX

nah im not making post moaning but your point it noted in no way am i a tall poppy im happy to see others succeed like ive said in other posts in the past the best people to learn from is those who are successful the issue with the main sub is people are more interested in bring successful ppl down opposed to learning from them

throwawayburner0

I’m hoping so! Would be great to get some real discussions from business owners like myself and others further on their journey without being downvoted.

SeniorLimpio

Take your upvote sir!

CurvaParabolica

We can’t stop the downvotes, but we can certainly make sure this sub has a great community in which these discussions can occur!

throwawayburner0

Yeah absolutely. I was referring to the downvotes on aus finance etc

alshirasalukis

Re net worth, I think a number of people would have net worth over $2M in super and PPOR - but not in liquid assets. While I know super and PPOR counts in theory, I don't personally consider it part of the "rich" calculation when thinking about HENRY status.

1iKnight

hmm. when you say PPOR you mean it as being paid off right?

alshirasalukis

Yes, or close to.

CurvaParabolica

It would mean the equity in your PPOR I assume since this is the real value (in my opinion)

GetRichOrCryTrying1

I consider rich to be able to stop working but still maintain your current or ideal lifestyle. For me that is about $2m in debt free, income generating assets outside of super and PPOR. Owning your home in any capital city and a half decent super balance would put you at $2m in net worth without being able to pay for groceries if you stop working.

1iKnight

like i said, it’s definitely a multifaceted term that is also inclusive of being high earning in order to be HENRY. you have to look at them together. if you stop work and do not have any income whether active or passive then you don’t qualify also again, the focus is predominantly on the HE and ways to achieve R whatever that may mean to you or the wider community

LegendoftheASX

Sadly, I earn less than 180k pa I'm not HENRY Well twas nice whilst it last Credit and big up anyone who is HENRY! I'll watch from the side lines becuz this Sub is a mile ahead of R/Ausfinance I am always happy to learn from those who are more successful than me! If anyone is subbed to R/Australia i suggest instant bans for anyone from the get go the place is USSR socialist lunatics

jackiemooon

But i like to hate read r/Australia

CurvaParabolica

Feel free to participate! We can learn from everyone.

Anachronism59

What about those who are ex HENRY, but now have the assets and maybe not the income ( depending how you define income). Would not their experience be of interest? Also how do you want to deal with couples when they manage finances in an integrated fashion. Double the figures and consider combined income and assets? I'm an ex HENRY.

YouveJustBeenShafted

Well, that's me out :/

1iKnight

there will be great satisfaction when you get there grind and believe in yourself
