Getting rid of the shift is a huge advantage for hitters with pull tendencies (very few MLB hitters tend to push) Not a coincidence the Astros have been loading up on lefty hitters in the last couple drafts. Lefties tend to pull more because most pitchers are righty and the ball tails in a way that pulls are more common.

mattyhtown

Okay and now do pitchers that benefit most from the shift. I bet Framber is in the top 25% if not higher

Specific-Mongoose-93

Framber is dead /s

throw_away0211

Careful what we wish for: Seager and Semien on that list makes the rags offense considerably better

mattyhtown

I think this is probably a net negative for us. with the Astros being one of the better ground ball inducing pitching rotations. Tucker being the only player on the team that gets consistently shifted on

Crimsic

And Yordan too, no?

[deleted]

Yes he does too. Statcast showed he was in the top 10 in players who get shifted against. Though it doesn’t really make a difference when it’s blasted 500 feet out of the park.

mattyhtown

Ya. But i wonder h or much the pitch clock will help batters

josuemilio

I hope this doesn’t hurt valdez and his ground balls

circle_stone

Tucker 30/30 seasons incoming

bordomsdeadly

I commented Kyle Tucker is a great dark horse MVP candidate because of this. Bregman has some if the best contact rates in the game and stands to possibly see some serious I porvement as well.

StrosDynasty

So this means that the rangers are going to the postseason next year?

TexSolo

Don't worry the rangers will still ranger it up.

Longhorn_TOG

Yea I’ve been thinking this and the outfield shift rules are gonna be huge for lefties

rudolph2

The shift benefits Astros hitters?

PossibleStock2899

Just another example of old men who are too set in their ways to accept change in the game that is smart and progressive. The players did not want this.

chimp20

Yordan should also rake.
