Honestly, I gotta defend Montero today, the whole thing unraveled because of a blooper that went just over the head of a player and then a defensive swing by Luis Arraez that just happened to bounce fair, on top of that Dubon misplayed it. Inexcusable walk and a hard hit that was difficult for Altuve to manage but that was some miserable luck on Montero's part. I still believe he'll get it together.
Kinda like stanek in atl
That’s been the story of the bullpen in the second half. Everything a batter puts in play results in a hit. Also we should create some lower leverage situations for Montero to correct himself
It’s kinda nuts that this team is outpacing 2017 and even 2019. Absolutely dominant pitching
Yeah, but the 2019 team went 28-9 over the last 37 games, which is also nuts.
Having Cole, JV, and Zack G pitch 3/5 of your games leads to ALOT of winning
With 37 games remaining on the schedule, how many wins do you think we end up with by the end of the season?
213 I'm not good at math, but I'm fairly certain about that.
Look at our schedule in September. If we lose more than 10 games I’ll be shocked
Yeah, we've just got to go 20-17 in the final 37 games to end up at 100-62. Can we go 25-12 to end up with 105 wins? What about 27-10 for a win total of 107? Do we really heat up and go 30-7 to end the year with 110 wins? I'm excited to see how it ends, but I'm obviously most concerned with winning a World Series.
I don’t want to be 110 game pace hot right before playoffs. I’m okay with stumbling early September like we did last year, and starting off strong in the playoffs
I said the same about August.
I know. Pretty big drop off offensively at first, left, and short. They are just that much better pitching wise. It's fucking beautiful, ain't it!
Trey Mancini is my 2022 spirit animal
Chas dislocated his pinky; the doctor was able to put it back into place. He will need a couple days, but honestly, I'll take it considering it could have been a lot worse.
“Lemme get out here and scare everybody.” - Montero
The twins got framboozled
I usually call them the Tins or the T's; either way, they ain't getting that W.
Oh that exchange in the final AB…
I THINK maldy was getting on Gary for taking too long to get ready and then was like “I’ll wait…” when Sanchez was ready they quick pitched him. I think Sanchez was complaining afterwards to the ump that he wasn’t set in the box. They always just love fucking with Gary, don’t they?
thought he might have been caught peeking at maldy. next pitch looked like it could have been a quick pitch but maldy basically didnt set up his location until montero was releasing the ball
Ah, that would make sense too.
Well Gabby Gary is a sad sack.
Damn I hope this doesn’t keep Chas out the rest of the season. Huge loss of it does.
Pretty sure i heard he’ll only be out a couple games. Just pop that sucker back in
My hope - beyond it being much less worse than it seems - is that because it's on his right hand, there may be a way to return earlier. He bats right-handed, so his pinky is in the middle rather than anchoring the base, and he throws left, so the bad finger is in the glove.
Alec bohm had the same injury and was out for like 2 games.
The bullpen again?!
Hunter Brown and Seth Martinez can't come soon enough
[posting a pic of Nori for every win (80)](https://twitter.com/norithecat17/status/1562634051931885570?s=21&t=aImS6M6W4Y58ljJX2au-Wg)
Praise be! Best one yet.
First to 80..let’s get it kitty
All hail our adorable Nori!!
the 80th praise be!
Fucking love Framber Valdez. Been a truther since his first start and now he's basically an Ace.
Two months ago, you could pick one of Montero, Neris, or Stanek out of the pen for the 7th or 8th and I'd feel pretty comfortable they'd lock it down. Now? I don't trust any of them.
Montero's looked the worst, but yeah, don't know why we're in a collective funk this month.
Montero has to be hurt
he was hitting spots and his velo looked fine
urshela got way beat on a fastball and lucked it into right field, dubon failed to cut off a poke hit down the third base line....altuve fumbled a double play.
only really bad AB was the walk to gordon. bad luck for him i'd say even going back to chicago where he put a nasty sinker on eloy's hands but he turned on it.
Probably just needs an alignment job, those cars are notorious.
Montero didn't look that bad tonight. I wouldn't let a tough stretch make you think our bullpen has collapsed, we are still very good.
I’ll take that series W courtesy of Altuve and Mancini.
Can’t say I’m a fan of the bullpen and their recent “lets turn comfortable Ws into nail biters” act every ninth inning, though.
I am, however, a fan of Bregman and Mancini and their "lets hit a two-run dinger for the exact right amount of cushion to secure the win."
Praying to Jebus for Chas's pinky
Looks like your prayers were answered.
Just horrendous luck for Montero that last inning
I like sac flies.
I don’t like being scared in the ninth inning with less than a 12 run lead.
I like quality starts.
I like Nori.
It’s World Series or bust, which means we’re asking for a lot and we’re pretty lucky as fans. I feel like complaining even though the Astros beat a pretty good team two days in a row. What reminds me of how lucky we are is that I’m going on vacation soon and I’m going to a Rockies/Avalanche game. I’m having a hard time finding anything to root for for either team. Ouch.
If nothing else, I bet there will be something worth cheering for at the concession stand. That's a small silver lining. Even if the teams are bad, the grub at the stadium is still good.
Let’s go BP
We didn’t get to see Mancini roll his sleeves up again
Did something happen with Maldy and sanchez at the end of the game?
Framber top 5 in Cy Young, think he'll make top 5? I'd say he's barely out of top 5 right now.
If he keeps his QS streak going, I think he'll definitely break top 5. But right now, I think it's JV's to lose at this point.
The Twins might be below .500 before long. That doesn't surprise me after all of the games we've seen them play against the Astros.
Didn’t frambler set a franchise record for quality starts? I think 21 in a row.
Good win today for the boys out there. First team to 80 is always a good thing to have under your belt.
Giving up runs consistently in the 9th is very very very bad man wtf
