https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xw5AiRVqfqk Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85-92

[deleted]

The third track from Selected Ambient Works Vol II was the music I'd put on as a kid whenever I got a migraine. Just lay face down on the bed listening to it on loop with a damp flannel trying like crazy to fall asleep!

Ok-Bag3000

Mezzanine - Massive Attack

Kat8844

Yes! 💯, one of my favourite albums ever.

TartanGuppy

KLF [Chill Out](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWebqCRw7o4) or [Space](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVc6bltUL1I)

Affectionate_Tap1718

Definitely the KLF’s Chill Out album, I agree 100%

Left my soul there…

grmacp

Entroducing can be a bastard, chilling out to Transmission 2 when suddenly Mutual Slump licks in and you shit yourself!

desmondresmond

Ha yeah tbf I also put on tool and NIN to chill out too. The german cake song on aenima always ruins my vibe when drifting off… also the chill music i put on to sleep if just the sesh music of my teenage years

ot1smile

Upvotes for AiM, Bonobo and BoC

Srumlicious

Plenty to be getting on with here! Thankyou

prof_hobart

Brian Eno - [Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6rmhXQUPJc&ab_channel=AMacMauro)

Evening-Tomatillo-47

About 90% of Brian Eno albums for that matter. If you want a 10 minute refresh though, I'll go with Dynamics and Unity from the album Infinity by Devin Townsend. Put those two on, crank it to 12 and let it wash over you

madviking66

Anything by Ludivico Einaudi or Carbon Based Lifeforms

j__knight638

Einaudi is brilliant. Nuvole Bianche is so good

Badknees24

Was coming here with Divenere, Einaudi. It soothes my soul.

BaddaBooms

The orb; u.f.orb

Srumlicious

Thank you for these suggestions! I’m absolutely going to work my way though then in no particular order but starting with the Orb because I just love the name!

retrode80

Gaia is the 1st tune you need to listen to by the Orb it's one of my favourite tunes from my 1990s LSD days.

ot1smile

Also check out their Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld album.

Spirit_of_Gravy

Collaboration with Lee Scratch Perry

holytriplem

Jamiroquai - Emergency on Planet Earth

lithaborn

Seconded. My personal chill list 808 state: ex.el Sheryl crow: Tuesday Night Music Club Scheer: infliction Best of Cream

theeasymuffin

Most albums by Bonobo, my special mentions would go to 'Dial M for Monkey' and 'Days to Come' My username is taken from the Amon Tobin track Easy Muffin which is a super beautiful chilled tune, though not all his songs are chilled so for a whole album there may be stuff more on the quirky/upbeat/challenging side than purely chilled. Bluetech is great if you'd enjoy longer tracks, more meditative and ambient. For an album I'd pick 'Sines and Singularities' The Cinematic Orchestra - Man with a Movie Camera Nightmares on Wax - Carboot Soul Could probably think of others but I'll stop there!

Educational_Space950

Carboot Soul - haven't listened to that in years! Putting it on now, thanks for the reminder.

tenthousanddays462

Kruder and Dorfmeister - The K & D Sessions.

banjo_fandango

DropCsharp

I mean this would be my answer too if I hadn’t overplayed it the last 30 years

Hamsternoir

Is it possible to overplay it?

thepurplescope

Stone Roses

Averyingyoursympathy

But then you have to hear Ian Brown sing.

jeanclaudecardboarde

*sing*??

Srumlicious

I love the roses but more to sing along to, not to fall asleep to. Need something a bit more chilled but agree they are fab

thepurplescope

I find that on their debut album the production is such that it lulls me to relaxation. The mixture of bob dylan, Beatles, and beach boys. It’s like LP ASMR.

stayupG10

Mylo - Destroy Rock & Roll

Azlamington

Enigma - MCMXCad or Cross of Changes

three_shoes

All three D'Angelo albums Brown Sugar, Voodoo and Black Messiah

AirBiscuitBarrel

It's Album Time - Todd Terje

makemycockcry

KLF cannot be recommended enough. Lemon Jelly also.

cryptus

Most of what I'd recommend has been said already (Boards of Canada, The Orb, The KLF etc.), would also add Banco de Gaia's Last Train to Lhasa.

cantsleepclownswillg

Last train to Lhasa is a simply perfect chill out album. Has loads of nostalgia for me as well, spent a lot of time listening to this in the small hours after clubbing… even now I can put it on and simply zone out. Amazing album.

james9483

Tycho- the walk album , Chicane- far from the maddening crowd , Tangerine dream. Especially the movie scores.

Athleticathiest82

Anything by mazzy star.

Squirtle177

Cowboy Junkies - The Trinity Session is a brilliant album to fall asleep to

Srumlicious

I’ll give this a go tonight

Squirtle177

Honestly it’s great, has a really warm cosy feeling as the band recorded it around one microphone in a church. Blue Moon Revisited is my favourite song, you might have heard the cover of Sweet Jane if you’ve ever seen Natural Born Killers.

Srumlicious

No I’ve never heard of them but that sounds perfect for drifting off to sleep to Update: it worked a treat. Loved it

passmethegun

Nils Frahm - Spaces

IAmQueeg500

I’d always just lie down and put Echoes on, 20+ minutes for the Meddle version normally does the trick for me

Dry_Shine_3233

Ahh such a brilliant song that, plus there's always the live in gdansk version for when you want Echoes but heavier.

WinkyNurdo

Lemon Jelly — Lost Horizons Brian Eno — Another Green World Bonobo — Animal Magic Smog — Knock Knock (sublime) Bill Callahan — Apocalypse I love listening to Abbey Road from *Because*, through to *Golden Slumbers*, *Carry that Weight* and *The End*. I went through a phase of listening to the Floyd whilst nodding off … the beginning of *Time* always jumps me awake with the clanging clock chimes.

Witch_of_Dunwich

You listen to Dark Side of the Moon to chill out lol? But seriously though, Kind of Blue - Miles Davis

desmondresmond

Used to always listen to dark side of the moon to space out, until I discovered dub side of the moon.

Friendly_External345

The beloved - blissed out. Back in the day stoner chill

Dry_Shine_3233

Neu - Hallogallo is a really chill song, I dunno if chill is what they were going for but I find it so relaxing. It's such a stable beat with really nice air-y guitar and keys underlaying it all.

Subject_Dinner8933

Emancipator

TheBluePapaBear

Hammock - Silencia.

TW1103

The last year or so, I've listened to The Killers' Pressure Machine (abridged version) when I need a chilled album. One of my favourite bands made a chill album just telling tales from their home town.

sodium_geeK

Good choices. *La femme d’argent* sounds specifically like driving the south coast of France in a drop top Alfa Romeo in 1977, looking fly as hell, with Monica Bellucci in sunglasses smoking a cigarette from the passenger seat.

Iron_Chicken1

Anything by Enigma.

Plus_Aardvark_6878

There’s a German guy who had a motorbike accident when young, causing a complete life shift where he decided to devote himself to composing chilled music. He moved to an Indian Ashram (now lives in Hawaii), renamed himself “Karunesh”, and plays ambient “world music” (bamboo flutes, harmoniums etc) If you search for playlists called “Karunesh” on Spotify you’ll find some of his stuff = very chilled music.
