What was growing up in a "company town" like?

Everybody knew who I was wherever I went. They’d say “oh! You’re [father’s name]’s son aren’t you? There was also not a single kid anywhere that I didn’t know, or if I didn’t know them then they would know my sister. Everybody’s parents all worked at the same company, and the house you lived in was determined by your status in the company.
We would have orgies in the supply closets after church

Not 100% a company town, but you either had a "good" job (usually with the company), or you were broke with a tenuous job. There was high unemployment in the region so anyone with a "good" job was scared to death of losing it.
