What celebrity's death are you dreading?
By - amoco162
sir anthony hopkins! such a strange and talented man
I met him once, he was a really nice guy.
It will be a bad day.
Resistance will no longer be futile.
in the same vein, Ian McKellen
This old cow boy I knew growing up looked exactly like Patrick Stewart. So much so that even dressed in full country western cowboy style pepole would line up for Autographs. So Patrick Stewarts on my list to but only because of one of the last true cowboys.
Same. I will cry for weeks.
You broke your little ships.
Dolly Parton. Obviously, I don’t know her but I’ve yet to read anything unsavory about her. She seems like a genuinely warm, bright light in a sometimes desolate and dark world.
She is a lovely human being. Her book charity for children needs more recognition because it has donated more books to children in need than any other person or charity. She's truly a national treasure.
And her donation for the development of the COVID vaccine. National treasure is the best way to describe her, I think :)
She calls kids on the phone every single day to read books to them, if that tells you anything about the kind of person she is
I’ll never forgive Dolly Parton for leading me to believe a job is 9-5…. It’s 9-6 due to lunch hour
To be fair, the Beastie Boys are to blame too. But they're more making fun since you're at a job workin' 9 to 5, but the Beastie Boys are at the garden cold kickin' it live
Came here to say this. Dolly Parton is a true gem.
And people think she's just a big pair of tits
I find her honesty about plastic surgery refreshing. I like that she isn’t ashamed that she has had things done.
I totally agree. I've never seen or heard a bad word about her. My comment was a quote from The Office.
That's mine to. I have a list of truley kind pepole in the world it only has like 5 pepole on it and shes one.
Not exactly what you would think of the star of Best Little Whorehouse in Texas....but sounds like a saint as far as I've heard.
Sir David Attenborough
He is the perfect celebrity and I really admire him. If his words got at least ten people to respect the environment that would be one thing, but his actions inspire thousands of people to not only respect the environment but actually bring change to the world.
Came here to say this, or to rage at him not being mentioned.
The one celebrity which will make me actually bawl when I hear the news
*if you hear the news. You could still die before him :)
Marry me. That dark humor
Once he dies, humanity is entering the end game phase.
If you’d been watching ANY of Sir David Attenborough’s more recent documentaries you would be *well* aware that we are already entering the end game phase. /s but not really
This is the riot of my fear.
Edit : *root. Gonna leave it like that though, it sounds like the inside of my head.
Sunny would never be the same...
Pretty sure it would end.
No they would have a scene where they throw his body in the trash
I think they've said they'll keep going till they're all dead.
Tony Hawk. Hopefully I have awhile…
John Williams. I’ll hate that he won’t be composing incredible music any longer. 🥺
“Without John Williams, bikes don't really fly, nor do brooms in Quidditch matches, nor do men in red capes,” said Steven Spielberg.
Yeah but after he passes is when his best decomposing work will begin.
This was my piano teachers favorite joke. Something like a guard walks into Mozart’s crypt and sees that he’s burning his original sheet music. The guard asks what he’s doing and a Mozart replies, “I’m decomposing!”
Luckily the Star Wars music area won’t be falling too far. Ludwig Goransson has done amazing on Mando. Micheal Giachinno gave one of my favorite scores with Rouge One (he only had a month to write it!), John Powell gave a very underrated score on Solo, and Kevin Kiner has continually made good music on the animated shows. I really hope Natalie Holt gets picked up to do a score for Star Wars. What she made for Loki was outstanding
The rest of Monty Python
Especially Michael Palin.
Rick astely, the internet will mourn for years
She's a national treasure.
She's an international treasure
Whenever I read one of the Discworld books with the witches, I always envision Maggie as Granny Weatherwax.
Samuel L Jackson mother fucker
Honestly think they’ll probably dig up his corpse for one more Indiana Jones movie after he dies.
That's insensitive but not completely out of the picture.
The woman is 99 and lived through 2020. She deserves to at least reach 100, if not much farther. She is a national treasure and should be granted the Queen of England's gift of immortality: though I'm not hopeful Queen Lizzie will share after she let Phillip go...
Cant believe I had to scroll this far to find mention of the legend that is Betty White
Every time I see her name in a headline my heart stops for a moment.
David Attenborough. I would also like James May to live happily for a long time to come..
Sean Bean's final one
Came here to say this, Ringo too!
Yeah, it will be a sad day when all the Beatles are gone :( Truly the end of an era.
I'll probably be dead long before him, but Weird Al.
I am not ready to have Mark Hamill die
I will be absolutely wrecked when he dies. I still cry about Carrie.
Stevie Nicks :(
Paul Mccartney. That one will sting.
Ewan McGregor. Was my first celebrity crush and still crushin, 23 years later.
But also, Julie Andrews, and Tom Hanks.
Mel Brooks :(
He's made it to at least 2000 already.
Spaceballs: The Funeral Service
Currently watching mash as I’m writing this .
I’ve always watched it with my dad , now I’m rewatching with my fiancée who’s never seen it. I will be absolutely heart broken when I read that head line.
Just binged it recently. It's simply incredible. And Alan Alda is a goddamn treasure.
When Sean Connery died, for some reason, it clicked that Arnie was getting up there too and I called my siblings with my panic and they told me to shut my ' blasphemous mouth' and that Arnie will never die.
Oh god yes, him and Stallone.
John Williams and Hans Zimmer.
Both have composed the most iconic and recognizable movie music for years.
You can argue they are the two greatest composers in cinema history
Can't believe nobody in this thread said Bill Murray.
Yep. About a year ago, it occurred to me that he would die one day and I teared up a little, which surprised me. Somehow when I was young, bill murray taught me that depression is hilarious.
Stephen Fry. I'm not British, but he is a national treasure.
Guy’s inspired so many men.
Arnold is not actually a real human. He is actually a T-800. Living tissue over a metal endoskeleton.
On a sell-la-lar level
But but.... he'll be back??!!!!
Only if God’s name is John.
He was my male role model growing up as my own dad wasn’t much of a good one. Dreading that day 😔
Dick van Dyke
Today I learned that he is still alive
I knew he was “old”, I used to watch the Dick Van Dyke show as a child and I’m nearing 40, but your comment made me curious and I looked it up…he’s nearly 96 😳.
Stephen King, he is the last beam holding it all together. He will be 80 in 2027 so I'm sure it will be soon. I will miss his writing, his books have gotten me through so much.
We will see him in the clearing at the end of the path.
I just deleted my reply to the post because I didn't see yours. I'll just add it here:
Stephen King. I am going to be an emotional wreck when that happens. He got me through all of the worst, and best, of my teenage and young adult years. His books were like a lifeline for me.
I have literally never in my life heard a bad thing about Dolly Parton. I even actively tried to seek some bad things out, but the woman is, for all intents and purposes, a saint.
Ian McKellen, aka Gandalf and Magneto
I met him in real life and he was one of the nicest and humblest people ever
Betty White and the Queen of England
I shared a ride with Betty White once. You THINK she's sweet and funny...well, let me tell you, she is so much sweeter and funnier than you could even hope. An absolutely charming, warm, wonderful person with no ego. You love her? Love her even more because she deserves it.
Worry about the queen once Charles goes. We all know she's holding out just so he can't get it.
The death of Betty White will destroy me. She's like my hero.
At this point I’m convinced both of them will outlive all of us.
The queen is immortal be serious XD
It’ll be a sad day for Prince Charles when she fakes her death and then shapeshifts into his form because the real Prince Charles will have to go.
Betty White I completely agree the Queen of England more so because it will be an end of an era for many of us shes just always been there. But I agree.
Did you just put THE Betty White in the same sentence as the queen of England? :O
Not really a celebrity, per se, but I am always concerned when I see something written about Jimmy Carter.
Same, I hope he alright.
Bette Midler and Angela Lansbury
Robert Downey Jr.
Amen. That man has suffered enough. I bid him many, very happy years!
I will never not remind people of this moment:
What happened to him?
He had a daughter who was stillborn and the baby’s mother died in a car crash while he was scheduled to film the Matrix sequels.
Plus his sister had leukemia, and he funded the research to cure her. She's like one of his best friends.
Don't forget he lost one of his closest friends as well (River Phoenix)
And his dad died when he was a teenager. I literally cannot think of a person with a more tragic storyline who has a more generous heart. Not that I know him. But everything you read about the guy is just insane.
That I forgot. He’s a really nice guy and hall these things would drive a normal person into a state of deep depression but he’s held on and found a way to move on and even use his experience to help others.
Came here to say Keanu.
Didja know he gave away his money to the artists who did the computer work on the Matrix movies? Did you know it was $75 million?
I will flip a table when springsteen goes
Elton John, he is a living legend.
I used to watch the original star wars and wish he was my dad.
I will be crushed when he goes.
He is one of the last surviving actors that was a huge film star in the 50's and 60's. He is the oldest surviving Best Actor Oscar winner and the first black man to win an academy award. I loved his performances in Lillies in the Field, A Raisin in the Sun, To Sir with Love, and A Patch of Blue. I've always wanted to meet him, but he's 94 and I doubt I will ever have the opportunity to see him. He's a legend as far as I'm concerned and I hope he has many more years of comfort and happiness.
Jack Black, Rowan Atkinson, Jónsi, Geddy Lee
Geddy will kill me
Christopher Walken is gonna fuckin hurt.
Natalie Wood might not agree
Morgan Freeman he is God
James Earl Jones.
Betty White, Mel Brooks, Jack Nicholson…
Nice try, 2021. I’m not gonna let you play me like this.
Diane Keaton. I love her in everything.
How has nobody said Stevie Wonder yet
Patrick Stewart. My heart will not be able to handle that
Keith Richards. The world would fall of its axis.
Every time you smoke a cigarette it adds 5 minutes to the end of Keith Richards’ life.
We’re good on him I think
The worry is that it’s going to take some kind of global extinction event to finish him off, then we’re all in trouble.
Robin Williams nailed this one real good:
And look what happened to him.
Yeah, still stings pretty good. Dude was excellent.
All of my favorite musicians. Tom Petty’s death was wake up call for me to start seeing more live shows. (I got to see Soundgarden before Chris Cornell died, otherwise that would’ve been it. ) But how had I never seen Tom Petty? Heartbreaking….
Paul McCartney’s 😩
Morgan Freeman, Russell Crowe, Bruce Springsteen
Lin manuel Miranda or Danny Devito
Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, David R. Scott, Charles M. Duke, and Harrison H. Schmitt. These four are the last surviving human beings to have walked on the moon. It will be a sad day for science when we will have no one alive who once stood on another celestial body.
Queen Elizabeth II
Not to be a Debbie downer but I'm expecting her to go soon. Old couples usually go around the same time. Once one goes, the other is soon to follow
Haven't we already concluded she's immortal?
That will never happen let's be real
Queen Elizabeth = The Queen Mother
Queen Elizabeth II = The Immortal
It’s rare to have such a cogent voice especially in these times. His loss would be profound for the comedy world and those of us who enjoy his social commentary.
Clint Eastwood the dudes been acting since the late 50s and directing movies since 1971. I'll miss him when he goes.
I dread the memes of an empty chair attending his funeral
Stephen Fry, and I want him to appear on the last episode of QI.
Haven’t seen anyone say William Daniels (Mr. Feeny from Boy Meets World). I basically grew up internalizing the lessons he taught to cory and Shawn. He’s 94 years old.
Don't worry he's never going to die.
His health has been dwindling. I'm gonna be unreachable for an undetermined amount of time when he passes.
Daniel Radcliffe and Maggie Smith
That'll be when my childhood completely dies.
Don't know if it counts but Obama
Morgan Freeman......it can't be a good thing the day God dies
Theres a few, but the biggest one is Ozzy. Thats gonna be a devastating day.
Bill Cosby....can only imagine the insanity that will surround it. A lot of people are going to have extremely mixed reactions, others will rage at his escape from justice. Either way it'll cause pain and I'm sure renewed debate if art vs the artist.
Im American, but when Queen Elizabeth passes , for me that’ll really mark the inevitable future my generation is going to face.
Paul, Ringo, and Bob Dylan.
Was thinking Dylan. But he’s been a living legend since the 60s. Almost like he died in the motorcycle accident and his ghost has been making incredible albums since. Basically it’s hard for me to think of him as a living person instead of a mythical figure.
I looked and looked and I don't think anybody said it; Dolly Parton!
I feel as if when Eminem inevitably dies, we’ll never hear the end of it. Don’t get me wrong - I’m an Eminem fan myself. But seriously, news of his death will be everywhere for a very long time. Not that I’ll be annoyed, but rather, it’ll be a real downer to see everybody talk about it everyday, for who knows how long.
Mark Hoppus... especially since he's been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer ☹
Sam Elliot. Was just watching Tombstone. His role in The Big Lebowski. Feels like the last decent living cowboy.
Emma Thompson. Her talent and charity are inspiring.
Danny Devito 😢
Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke.
Michael Palin, actually any of the remaining pythons but Palin has been my favorite.
Michael J Fox
George RR Martin. I haven’t given up on Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring.
The North remembers.
