Don't do it! Your body is precious... respect it
Why would getting tattoos not be respecting your body?
Guy's just learned *today* about ancient Greek and wants to get it tattooed on his body forever
What spelling are you going for?
The ancient greek language is all very new to me as of the past couple of hours haha, I believe Attic Greek is the variation where there’s all caps? This is the type of text I would like. By spelling I’m not sure what you mean exactly, just the word Stoic - thanks for the help 💯🙏
You know Ancient Greek isn't English right? You can't just write English words in all caps and pretend it's Greek, or you might end up on r/grssk.
For your purposes, if you want to write the word 'stoic' in AG, it should be στωϊκός (read: stoikos) or, in all caps, ΣΤΩΙΚΟΣ. I would usually advise against getting tattoos in a language or script you don't actually know, unless you are certain your tattoo artist isn't going to butcher it in any way. Good luck!
Man, that is an oddly specific subreddit that I didn't know I needed in my life!
Appreciate that thanks, just being very cautious, I have a lot to learn haha, most definitely don’t want to end up on that page 😂🙈.. once again thanks
Also, what, exactly, is 'stoic' in this scenario? Yourself, or some thing or other? The answer may vary accordingly.
I have been naturally drawn towards stoicism to overcome adversity in my life, without so I don’t know where I’d be today, if even here; I would just like a tattoo to display my appreciation towards the philosophy and more so the tattoo will be there to symbolise myself as a stoic. Just more so an idea and thought currently
I get that, and good on you for getting into stoicism. I merely meant, to what does the intended word refer? If to yourself - and you're male - then (as has been said) ΣΤΩΙΚΟΣ is right. If you're female, or the word is not intended to refer to you, then that may be incorrect.
Thank you and yes I am male
In that case the suggestion already given is the best fit (though I'd agree with another poster that you should generally avoid getting tattoos in languages you don't know, but that's another story).
