I started crocheting last week, so I'm definitely still learning, but I started by ordering a set of crochet hooks/stitch markers/yarn needles online. I then went and bought a couple balls of cheap yarn. I made a little square of just single crochets, just to get a hang of the basics, before I tried [this](https://blog.mohumohu.com/post/117524437877/amigurumi-octopus-pattern) octopus pattern. I figured it's basically a ball with a little extra bits, so it'd be okay to start with. It didn't turn out great or anything, but it helped me learn increasing, decreasing, and a couple new stitches, and the end product is more fun than just a blank sphere. From there, I've been trying other patterns that look relatively simple, and I've been improving with each one! You'll be more motivated to learn if you find patterns that interest you, so just do your best to balance that with what you think you're capable of doing

Wow now that’s a great piece of advise and has already motivated me to get myself started. I loved the octopus pattern and I am thinking it will give me a kick start as well. Thank you so so much for making an effort to help me, it really means alot. I can definitely say that you would have already been doing a great job and in coming time, I will be seeing your work here too. Good luck and thanks alot again😇

When I first started amigurumi and crocheting I would go to Walmart and buy the cheapest yarn, and hooks, they had and practised using that. For actual projects I would buy the better yarn so I wouldn't waste it. Youtube has a ton of great tutorials for beginners because they show exactly step by step and how to do the stitches. Good luck on your projects!
