The colonies would not side with the comunist the core of the nationalist side was from the army of africa

AlexSimonCullar

It's an alternative history, fascsmi is not popular in this timeline

Bernardito10

Yeah but even then, it don’t have to be fascism the generals and soldiers stationed there were mostly conservatives and same for the moroccans that were enlisted in the Spanish army

Maya291

What happened to the anarchists in this scenario?

personthatisapersons

Who wins?

AlexSimonCullar

Franquists are the first to lose, then, the republicans get conquered by the Communists, finally the Communists launch an offensive to the carlists and win

Cringe

Any lore reason for Asturias not being communist? It’s one of the parts of Spain with a largest leftist traditions, associated to the mines, shipyards… also, considering that the Basque country is one of the cradles of Carlism, I could see them flipped. It looks grand regardless!

AlexSimonCullar

Well, in this timeline monarchies are the ones rising instead of fascism, so they caused the civil war because they wanted a king instead of a republic

ThePolyFox

That doesn't really answer the question and also isn't particularly different from real life since the the Nationalists were a spectrum from right leaning religious parties to though the Monarchist groups all the way to the Fascists. Also its a bit weird that the communists control Moroccan territory and the Carlists control Barcelona

KnightofTorchlight

In that case, a look at the 1931 local elections (the most recent elections prior to the breakout of this Civil War) shows that the mainland regions the map shows as the core of the Communist Republicans (Andalusia and Extremadura) were actually the two big regions to vote in favor of parties aligned with the very recently deposed (we're talking less than a year ago) Alfonso XIII. The region is extremely unlikely to have taken a hard left turn so quickly, though it does not surprise me the Carlists saw an empty throne as an opportunity

jfbnrf86

A communist country in favor of colonialism ?????

Bernardito10

They would call them sister republics or something like that and call it a day, morocco has pontential since they could claim to be independent (claim) and make a propaganda war againts the french colonialism and the king

Kinesra93
