Down in a Hole is good and all that but... Dirt is *unique*. It's unfeasible to imagine another band doing Dirt and I think that's why we love AIC
I disagree. Down In a Hole is brilliant and enjoyable but I can easily imagine it being covered by any of the other grunge A Listers.
The most enjoyable thing about DIAH for me is the harmonies between Jerry and Layne and while yes, I agree that that is obviously unique to AIC, I think that *every* aspect of Dirt is unique. Especially the glitchy riff, slow time signature and the way Layne gets really let loose.
I like damn that river a little better than down in a hole. The way layne says “maybe I don’t give a damn anyway” with that country accent. I single along with it every time I here that song.
Down in a hole is good too but I like the “harder” music personally
