Couldn't agree more. The Goth subreddit is having a contest for the top 20 goth songs and they're implementing a 1-artist rule. I think it's only fair to other artists/bands.
Because it’s lame, that’s why. Might as well just finish off the list now with Nevermind and fill the rest of the spaces with Soundgarden and Pearl Jam lol
Lmao you gotta chill with the snobby contrarian attitude.
Being different is cool, but when you’re being an obnoxious gatekeeper for no reason, that’s you trying too hard to stand out. Who cares if it’s predictable? These albums are popular for a reason. OP asked for this sub’s fav albums. You’re obviously not gonna get that if you put unnecessary restrictions.
What am I gatekeeping, exactly? All I’m doing is laying out a suggestion to make this contest a little more fun, that’s all. It’s just boring when you know it’s gonna all be grunge albums
it's no fun. We all like Grunge but only some of us like Beethoven and some of us like Daft Punk etc. It's predictable and not fun to, for example, just have 4 Chris Cornell albums and 4 side projects of Alice in Chains members
We could do a no grunge allowed list? Take out that thing we all obviously have in common?
Couldn’t agree more. A one-album-per-band rule will only provide a misrepresentation of Alice in Chains fans’ actual favourite non-Alice in Chains albums. The point here isn’t “to be fair” to the other bands, but rather to find out what Alice in Chains fans’ *actual* favourite non-Alice in Chains albums are, and if their actual favourite non-Alice in Chains albums include multiple albums by Nirvana and Soundgarden, then so be it.
Nevermind should be on their by default but this list should be one album per band. I would have Tool - Undertow but I know Lateralus will probably be the Tool album that makes the cut (not that I’m complaining)
I would argue that some tracks on In Utero are even more raw. Scentless Apprentice and Milk It in particular are bone-chilling to hear for the first time
I agree with other dude, this entire list is gonna be just all the same bands. Should have kept it to one band a piece but even then there’s gonna be like four Chris Cornell projects on here. It’s all way too obvious.
Nope, dead serious. Most of my favorite albums are already up on that list so that was one I thought of. Creed is a great band and I will die on that hill.
Faith no More - The Real Thing
Nothing quite like it. The bass tone is so on point
Rage against the machine self titled
Candlebox - self titled
Mark Langean - *Whiskey For The Holy Ghost*
Undertow - Tool
Blind Melon - Soup
Around the Fur by Deftones!!!
I just listened to be quiet and drive and literally it makes me want to cry. It's so beautiful. This is my cue to listen to that whole album now
Pink Floyd - Animals
Underrated tbh r/pinkfloydcirclejerk

roots bloody roots - sepultura
absolute fuckin banger
Ænima
Probably my favorite album of all time, until I change my mind hehe.
My War - Black Flag
Live - Selling the Drama
Doolittle - pixies
Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf
This.
Kyuss. Welcome to Sky Valley
There should be a 1 album per band rule. Two Nirvana albums? Two Soundgarden albums? Come on, really? Where’s the fun in this
Couldn't agree more. The Goth subreddit is having a contest for the top 20 goth songs and they're implementing a 1-artist rule. I think it's only fair to other artists/bands.
Well, if a band is so good to make multiple good albums, why not include them.
Because it’s lame, that’s why. Might as well just finish off the list now with Nevermind and fill the rest of the spaces with Soundgarden and Pearl Jam lol
Yep and 90% of this sub would be happy with that.
Soooo then what’s the point?
Not sure, i mean it was always going to end up a bunch of grunge albums.
You’re trying too hard to be different. It’s not that deep.
Maybe I just am different? And think outside of these boxes that people on Reddit seem to fall into? Idk sorry

Happy Cake Day!!! (I might not have noticed earlier)
I think 2 artists rule would be better.

Amen
Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power
Life will be complete if this or any other Pantera album gets onto here.
I second this
Honestly makes the most sense considering how close them and AiC were in the 90’s
Goo- sonic youth
Seasons in the Abyss - Slayer
Sweet Oblivion - Screaming Trees
Purple - STP
Why isn't this higher
The cure disintegration
Live! - Throwing Copper
I still love this album so much
Was gonna say the same!
Siamese dream - the smashing pumpkins
One of the greatest albums of all time to me!
It is for me as well
Nothin quite like it!
Why is this not up there already
Easily one of the best front-to-back, don’t skip a track, all killer no filler albums of all time.
Pearl Jam - Vs.
*Violent Femmes* (1983) by Violent Femmes.
Tool-Lateralus
Really need some tool on here
Yes!!
*Before we piiiiiiiiiiine away…*
Toxicity-SOAD
Reign in blood - slayer
Slipknot- Iowa
Angel dust - Faith No More
This
It's listed several more times, we need to get everyone voting on the same comment together somehow
Nirvana unplugged. It’s better than Nevermind and In Utero.
Electriclarryland- Butthole Surfers
Me again with THE CROW SOUNDTRACK
Far too many grunge albums imo. Not enough variety
Anything non-grunge gets downvoted, I mean Nevermind is the highest one right now lol
Nevermind should be on their by default but this list should be one album per band. I would have Tool - Undertow but I know Lateralus will probably be the Tool album that makes the cut (not that I’m complaining)
Absolutely! I’ve been trying to get some SOAD on here
Off the deep end - Weird Al Yankovic
The album even has a hidden track. 😶
Fuck yeah
Lateralus-TOOL
Goo - Sonic Youth
the open door - evanescence
Pink Floyd- wish you were here
The mollusk by ween
Hum - Downward is Heavenward
day 3 Purple by stone temple pilots
Wallflower- my sisters machine
Nevermind - Nirvana
I get that we're all sick of it at this point but if Bleach and In Utero are in there this has to be as well
Tbh I feel like the only reason bleach is on there is be cause in utero and never mind a few too 'mainstream'
Bleach is on there because it has a unique sludgy raw sound. Something I like about that album compared to the other nirvana albums.
Fair point, just don't think I'm a fan of it, each to their own though
Tbh I wouldn’t have put nevermind or in utero on this list. Just something I enjoy about bleach
Interesting! I wouldn't have put any nirvana on at all I reckon. And there's way too much good stuff out there for three nirvana records!
I would argue that some tracks on In Utero are even more raw. Scentless Apprentice and Milk It in particular are bone-chilling to hear for the first time
Milk it especially . The different notes and all that shit Kurt plucks . It’s like he’s not even playing a song just ducking around .
NIN pretty hate machine
...And Justice For All by Metallica
Angel dust - Faith no more
Faith No More - Angel Dust
Faith No More - Angel Dust
Thank you, I write this every day and it gets ignored!
But also, it's listed multiple times in this post alone, somehow we have to get everyone voting on the same comment
Hole - Live through this
I agree with other dude, this entire list is gonna be just all the same bands. Should have kept it to one band a piece but even then there’s gonna be like four Chris Cornell projects on here. It’s all way too obvious.
Mad Season
Undertow Tool
Mellon Collie and the infinite sadness- Smashing Pumpkins
Type O Negative: *Bloody Kisses*
Siamese dream
Soundgarden - Down on the Upside
Type O Negative: *October Rust*
yess i love this album
absolutely needs to be added! what an album
I'm gonna cry if they don't make it onto this list. Layne and Peter are my 2 favorite rock/metal singers. They were both taken from us too soon.
Black Album - Metallica
Britney spears - …baby one more time
I know nothing about Britney Spears but I really hope this makes it
Epicus Doomicus Metallicus by Candlemass
Damn I didn’t think anyone here would know who Candlemass is
There's more of us than you think. 🤘🤘
Mother Love Bone - Apple
There’s 4 Chris Cornell records alone let’s chill a bit lol
Literally any album but the one I suggest as it never gets picked so I'm done suggesting
Don’t take it personally, it’s the same exact albums that make these lists in every single band subreddit, it’s so boring and basic
Rust in Peace - Megadeth
Green Day - Dookie
Ashes of the wake - Lamb of God
Might as well add Nevermind
Blast Tyrant - Clutch
Why the hell the downvotes? People need to recognize
Never thought Clutch would get downvoted in this sub, weird lol
Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness - Smashing Pumpkins
Metallica - Master of Puppets
The first audioslave album is just perfect. Love superunknown. And that mad season album is the best to smoke to.
Dirt Alice in chains
Bruh
Raffi - Corner Grocery Store
Hulk Rules - Hulk Hogan
Siamese Dream
Quadrophenia—The Who
Welcome to Sky Valley by Kyuss
Stone Temple Pilots’ Purple album.

Song for the deaf by queens of the stone age
Kyuss Welcome to Sky Valley
Boggy Depot - Jerry Cantrell
Vulgar display of power - pantera
NIN - The Fragile
El Oso by Soul Coughing
Human Clay - Creed
Was this meant to be funny? Cause it is.
Nope, dead serious. Most of my favorite albums are already up on that list so that was one I thought of. Creed is a great band and I will die on that hill.
I’m not a Creed hater at all. Actually the opposite. But they are on opposite ends of the AIC spectrum to me.
