We like to get on our body boards at the river mouth. When you get in the current it takes you all the way to the beach. Great for kids because it's usually pretty shallow unless you hit the tide wrong
The stretch between Henley and Grange was always my favourite for convenience. Just a really nice, accessible, not too crowded beach. The actual best beach is probably down south though. Iām in Melbourne now but the main thing I miss about Adelaide is the amazing metro beaches! Youāre all very lucky from that perspective.
Second this but shhhh. We don't want people to know! It's a great mix of nice and, some gentle waves and the ability to go out a fair way before it gets deep. I've been there on a 36 degree Australia Day and there were still metres of sand with no one on it. It's such a big beach too, I'm not great with distance but must be close to a kilometre from the nude end to the other end with the park? It's not patrolled though, other than the shark planes.
Total length is about 2.4km. The non-nude section is about 1.6km. In comparison Aldinga down to Sellicks is about 6km. (IMHO Maslins is the best beach.)
And yes to the dolphins, saw a fin once between me and shore at Maslins, happily it was a jumpy fin.
I have seen jumpy fins but was also in the water one day when the shark plane spotted a bitey fin. Was quite funny because it started circling over one spot with the siren blasting. Right under that spot was two guys on blow up mattresses. Never seen anyone paddle that fast, they would have won the paddle leg of an Iron Man haha.
We used to watch the leather backs, as we called them, walk from the car park to the nude section. You'd need binoculars to see them because it's such a long way from the main ramp
Alright ignore my username for a moment and take this as a seconded. Jaja. Added further is that awimming in the nude doesnāt mean PornHub is on location hey.
Out of all the āclose to the cityā beaches in Adelaide, Semaphore is my favourite one too. I prefer to go a little more south of the jetty where the semaphore foreshore playground and Noonies cafe is. Always easier to park, easy beach access and less crowded and I find it is a great family friendly swimming spot. The water has been so calm and crystal clear there lately! Sooo many crabs though haha
Semaphore for me too, not only because it's probably the closest to Elizabeth lol. Plus memories from childhood of almost drowning on the waterslide, finding a blue ring octopus that my parents freaked out and quickly pulled me away from, and of course buckets of hot chips and no shortage of interesting stuff to scavenge in the sand.
Very fond memories of my childhood swimming at Moana and then everyone having to move their cars further up the beach to avoid the incoming high tide, only for some people to get bogged in the loose sand. Also not-so-fond memories of 8-year old me getting dumped by the afternoon waves at Moana and having the boogie board smash into the sand and my diaphragm and wind me, or getting my toes nipped by a sand crab.
I've seen Port Willunga named as one of the best beaches in the world. Years ago I was living in Aldinga and went to the Start of Greece for lunch with some "city slicker" friends who couldn't believe how blue the water was. The "city" beaches have nothing on the southern beaches
Grange is my go to, Iāve had dolphins and seals sneakily swim up right next to me before. South Port Beach where the Onkaparinga meets the sea is one of my favourite places in SA.
The fact that everyone has a different answer only shows that Adelaide has a lot of nice beaches. We are so lucky to live in the best part of Australia. South of Adelaide is the place to be. Convenient access to express way, 5 min to beautiful beaches and 10 min to beautiful walks in the hills.
Considering I do live in Semaphore, itās got its perks. Though Iād like to revisit anywhere south of OāSullivanās as itād been so long, maybe 10 years at least.
Not the person you asked.
It's been a couple of years, so things may have changed.
Maslin Beach is my favourite beach. There are two parts, the dressed end and the nude end. The easier carpark is at the dressed end, but it's not *that* long of a walk to get to the nude end. The nude end has the better beach, although the dressed end is fine too. The nude end carpark fucking sucks to get back up to after your done, if you're not particularly fit. Lots of damn stairs.
I've never found it particularly full of pervs, but I'm not their demographic anyway. I don't know what it's like if you're young and hot, although my daughter had no issues. That might be because she's always been there with her middle-aged fat mother though.
There's always been a decent amount of people when I've gone, but it's never been ridiculous. The cliffs are beautiful, too. If nothing else, go for the view.
Hey- this is out the front of my house!
I love semaphore, the strip here is just awesome fun during the summer.
Having said that, I think I may migrate further towards the south.
I like Port Noarlunga, mostly for the reef there. I used to snorkel a lot before i moved up north near semaphore. Saw plenty of fish there and a few crabs as well. Semaphore is still a good beach though, even though it gets super busy near the main road.
Yes really. And I do know it because when I first moved to McLaren Vale (parallel to Maslins) over 30 years ago it was still in the metro phone zone. You can keep thinking that the city only extends to the wanky popular areas but you will still be wrong.

Metropolitan Adelaide extends as far south as Sellicks you ignoramus.
The best beach in Adelaide is one that due to a quirk of geography only the locals know about it. They'll never name it, and neither will I. Sorry š
Port Noarlunga has always been my favourite

Did this last weekend haha the best šš
It's so much fun with minimum effort. And the river is normally warmer than the ocean too.
Sounds fun!
This is the only answer.
Sssshh⦠Donāt tell the others

We are very Lucky beautiful beaches and close by
Port Willunga, but Sellicks Beach is also great.
I went to both this week for the first time and they were awesome. Willunga the best!
Second Valley, it's a little gem of a beach down on the Fleurieu Peninsula.. Carrickalinga and Normanville also have nice beaches.
Maslins..beautiful beach and never real busy as ppl think its all nudies.
I agree with this. Plus, last time we were there, a pod of dolphins came to play.
Second this but shhhh. We don't want people to know! It's a great mix of nice and, some gentle waves and the ability to go out a fair way before it gets deep. Haven't been there in years might have to go

Ill Slap them with seaweed

Nice try Capitan underpants ;)
Another not adelaide beach
Maslins is considered metro so how is it not Adelaide?
Not in any adelaidians world. It isn't metro.
Bollocks.
Alright ignore my username for a moment and take this as a seconded. Jaja. Added further is that awimming in the nude doesnāt mean PornHub is on location hey.
South of O'Sullivan's beach
Moana and Aldinga Beach are my personal favourites.
Same! Weāve been a few times in the last week alone. And back again tomorrow
Anything south of OāSullivans Beach boat ramp for me, Iām a souf-lyfer haha
Floating away on a boat mmmm sounds lovely.
That's not adelaide
Are you ok mate? What's your definition of Adelaide?
City Beach then, since it's the only 'beach' in Adelaide...
Hot chips on the main strip, then a stroll to the beach and a leisurely stroll to largs catch a sunset while I'm at it .
That exact area is where my family nearly always went to the beach, very fond memories.
Seacliff or Henley/Grange
Nice. An answer not South of actual Adelaide.
Southport no question.
Moana, Silver Sands, no doubt.
Moana for mine. Would rather drive the esky on than carry the bloody thing.
It was amazing tonight. Water is the warmest it's been this summer.
Heading there in a couple weeks so keen for a few froffies
Very fond memories of my childhood swimming at Moana and then everyone having to move their cars further up the beach to avoid the incoming high tide, only for some people to get bogged in the loose sand. Also not-so-fond memories of 8-year old me getting dumped by the afternoon waves at Moana and having the boogie board smash into the sand and my diaphragm and wind me, or getting my toes nipped by a sand crab.
I have Never been road trip time
Not adelaide
Whatās your definition of āAdelaideā? Seems narrowā¦
Lizbef.
Brighton is wonderful. But you can't really go wrong unless you pick Glenelg for some reason.
I think glenelg is a bit of a mess nowadays
The suburb is nice enough but I don't understand why people rave about the beach there when every other one Adelaide has is better...
Moana and porties
1. Port Noarlunga & South Port 2. Port Willunga 3. Blow Hole Beach 4. Grange 5. Semaphore South 6. Seacliff 7. Moana Top 3 are god tier.
I've seen Port Willunga named as one of the best beaches in the world. Years ago I was living in Aldinga and went to the Start of Greece for lunch with some "city slicker" friends who couldn't believe how blue the water was. The "city" beaches have nothing on the southern beaches
Tennyson is my pick. Quiet and pristine with good proximity to the food and foreshore of semaphore.
They are all great and each have their own personality.
Silver sands
Any beach without cars parked on it
Any beach that doesnāt require me to step in bloody annoying seaweed
Grange is my go to, Iāve had dolphins and seals sneakily swim up right next to me before. South Port Beach where the Onkaparinga meets the sea is one of my favourite places in SA.
Saw this recently haha
Maslins. inb4 jokes about the nudist beach, it's just straight up the nicest actual beach.
It actually is though šš

Seacliff
Aldinga/Silver Sands Beach, even Moana is amazing Nothing beats the southern coastline
Being from the port, Semaphore is my go to. In Adelaide we're spoiled for choice with beaches. They're all good. Glenelg hogs the limelight.
Forgive me for asking....but is there any nudist beaches around?
Maslin Beach.. South side
What is it like? Feel free to dm me
Not the person you asked. It's been a couple of years, so things may have changed. Maslin Beach is my favourite beach. There are two parts, the dressed end and the nude end. Thankyou! That was an excellent answerā¤
I like to take tourists to Waitpinga
Hey- this is out the front of my house! I love semaphore, the strip here is just awesome fun during the summer. Having said that, I think I may migrate further towards the south.

I like Moana if Iām going down for the whole day. Drive on the beach and set up.
Christies Beach, I may be biased because I live a 5min drive away but it's rarely too crowded
Lucky you 5 minutes to the beach ā±ļø
The one that has great white sharks 5 metres of shore
Just heard the Jaws theme in my head
HAAHGGHN HAHH KILLER TIME FRENZY RRAAAGHHH
This is like the best suburb in Adelaide⦠gonna be totally bias results
Don't live there unfortunately but it's my favourite so I'm ok with that.
My point was the replyās are gonna be biasā¦. U will get a list of multiple beaches in Adelaide
OP is biased themselves, anything not right next to the city isn't part of Adelaide according to them.
southport
All of them
"Life's a Beach, South Side Suzuki"
Any of Adelaideās beaches are but Port Noarlunga or the Henley Grange area is nice
Hallett Cove
Waitpinga, Great swimming
Dont waste time on seaweed infested Adelaide beaches head straight to aldinga/sellicks (silversands)
Semephore can be at times also largs . Grange and henley and onwards is usually clear
Blanche point def, super empty and calm
I have Never heard of that beach where is it too ?
Itās a point, maslin beach is the name. https://maps.app.goo.gl/VMZw7D1oD9Xiutk99?g_st=ic
Black Point on yorkes
Thompsons beach
For beach no water
Christies Beach is a great little spot. Real pity itās at Christieās Beach though.
Well any except Semaphore
In Adelaide? Grange
I live in Seafordā¦. Itās still Adelaide
Yep Adelaide
Yeah some don't get the question.
Theres so many, but its easy to put Brighton as the worst
>Hallet Cove exists Second Worst.
Fair
Henley gang where you at š„
Anywhere but Glenelg, Semaphore or Henley. Itās meth head central
Wtf fo people not get about... Best ADELAiDE beach? Fmifnits south of Seacliff its not Adelaide.
You do know the metro area of Adelaide extends to at least Maslin Beach and has done for 30+ years?
Nah not really and you know it.
Yes really. And I do know it because when I first moved to McLaren Vale (parallel to Maslins) over 30 years ago it was still in the metro phone zone. You can keep thinking that the city only extends to the wanky popular areas but you will still be wrong.

All of Adelaide or just near the CBD?
All of adelaide
Probably Moana then, whole stretch is beautiful. Best youāll get without driving to Aldinga.
The best beach in Adelaide is one that due to a quirk of geography only the locals know about it. They'll never name it, and neither will I. Sorry š
Henley
South Brighton
A WHITE LIGHT
Not necessarily the best, but nice and quiet: The tiny strip of beach above the North Haven Marina, or as it's known by locals, the "secret beach".
