God is Dead - Somewhere in Eastern Europe - Czech republic, I think
By - Odin18Z5
God is never dead. People may forget about or reject Him, but He’s never dead.
Nietzsche would disagree, so would Black Sabbath
Yeah, but they’d be wrong.
Nietzsche actually agrees with you when he talks about God always remaining "in caves of men where His shadow is shown." So no, the simple answer that god is dead missed the whole point of Nietzsche.
Actually Nietzsche is a bit more complex than that. "God is dead, he remains dead, AND WE KILLED HIM." Slightly fuller quote. The idea is that the enlightenment removed the need for god from human activity. Now that humanity has killed god, there is no longer a philosophical underpinning for morality (read The Twilight of the Idols). He ended his days having despaired that Europe would fall into nihilism (read The Will to Power) and lose all morality, but tried to offer a way out through self selected moral systems (read Thus Spoke Zarathustra).
I like to believe that there are universal morals, like slavery is bad, murder is wrong, racism is not good, that sort of thing. Which ends up being rather incompatible with Nietzsche's construct.
And with Black Sabboth, who cares about the philosophical thoughts of a bunch of old shriveled up men.
I take it some people don't like philosophy?
Nietzsche is not an end all be all, but a developmental step to the next philosophical system that built on their work. Nietzsche made way in large part for post modernity philosophocally. Saying he falls short on universal morality doesnt mean he hasn't been helpful to philosophical progress.
We all know how the Übermensch thing went anyway.
You hit the nail on the head with your Nietzsche statement. I never said how God died, just the fact that God is dead.
Sabbath was also asking a question within their song rather than making a statement, but I know how Ozzy might feel about it, as you say, not that it matters in the grand scheme of things.
I do like philosophy, I'm just not attached to my phone 24/7 to discuss it with strangers in an Urbex group.
Have a good day peeps.
But the thing is that Nietzsche ultimately admits that god will never be dead. If the death of god Is his idea being purged from all of mankind, which is what the original quote is aimed at, then he later admits that he is wrong. The concept of god will always exist in the caverns and caves of humanity.
His original quote in "The Gay Science" which you are referring to that "God remains dead" is tempered by him saying that god will always exist in the caverns of the mind of humanity.
Looking over his whole work, Nietzsche actually argues that god still exists and will continues to.
You just sound like you have come to flex TBF, enjoy
I offered some reading suggestions. Enjoy.
Ideas did hard.
"God is Dead" - Nietzsche
"Nietzsche is Dead" - God
I think I saw that joke on The Benny Hill Show .....
"You're welcome" - Chuck Norris.
the whole quote is "God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him.". People are repeating that without even knowing what it mean, the context of it.
Correct me if I'm wrong but, this looks more like a holding area for a concert or dinning hall than a church no? The pews would be weirdly angled in respect to the dome and there's no indication of any artwork on the dome itself
It's a church
If I'm correct no churches were build like this. Also it looks more like opera house (some of them had the play in the middle)
Czechia is in Central Europe, not Eastern.
for future reference, Czech republic is not Eastern, but Central Europe
edit: [found the church in Western Poland](https://www.google.com/maps/place/%C5%BBelisz%C3%B3wfirstname.lastname@example.org,15.6328207,15z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x470f308b56d2c257:0xdffb200e4b0e9478!8m2!3d51.1879225!4d15.63586?hl=en) -still not Eastern Europe
It's east compared to the uk where I live. Thanks or checking for me though. We drive through Europe for 4 weeks. It all blurred together in my mind.
And American East coast is to the west of you, but that does not mean you should call it West coast. Position relative to you is irrelevant, what matters is position relative to the center of the area in question. And for Europe that happens to be around Czechia.
Reminds me of last of us.
