I'm less inclined to believe this was a leaky ship. We didn't get a drilling update last week and like us, holders might be expecting the worst and getting nervous. Though I am with you in thinking that the next announcement may not be positive but that's just me going in with low expectations.
For better or worse, we should find out by weeks end.
I think the lack of update was because of bad news (like everyone), which – as you quite correctly say – is sufficient to explain the selling without needing to posit some insider trading.
But I *also* expect that there *was* leaked information just because my default position is that everything involving money is chock full of dirty, corrupt bastards, and that there's nothing in the data which would preclude that being the case, and there is history to support it (not *necessarily* with this stock, though, as per the cynical position, I wouldn't rule it out either).
