The (my) SW Annual Report is inaccurate in the "Holdings Valuation as at 30 Jun 2022". It's about $100k off. Anyone also seeing the errors? Edit: nope my bad, it’s accurate. I just lost that much on (by) 30 June 2022 💀😂😂

Do you reckon its the ESIA being approved? Quarterly was saying end of August, but I can't imagine anything else leaking that would force this much volume

Doomkoon4648

No idea honestly, part because of the TA me thinks. See where 2morrow goes.

kangaroute

interesting,... again for ixr. but the leaky ship means we know something must b coming. we just die from anticipation.

Doomkoon4648

ESIA ain't due for a month or so so any news forecasted isn't due out, so I am not leaning towards leaky it had been testing resistance last few days maybe it just pushed through and got steam.

The fuck did they need 1000 staff for in the first place, let alone 4000

fake reddit users that prompt pump and dump?

eucalyptusmacrocarpa

PARticularly punny. Well done

SatansFriendlyCat

I have the same compulsion. So this is either a pity upvote or a solidarity one. Or maybe a gratitude token.

anomaly256

As long as it's a fungible token

SatansFriendlyCat

It's pegged to the value of "a fuck" as found. You cannot exchange it for a fuck, but its value fluctuates in relation to how much of a fuck I give at any given time. It's a fuckageable token.

anomaly256

If I can't exchange it for a fuck then it sounds more like a non-fuckageable token

SatansFriendlyCat

Well the token represents a fuck already given, if you want to cash it in then you actually have to give a fuck as opposed to receive one, alternatively – [as per the joke about the man who bought his wife the slippers and the dildo for Christmas](https://www.ebaumsworld.com/jokes/slippers/80871174/) – if you don't like the token then you can go fuck yourself! Also TIL: eBaumsWorld still exists, shit me dead

I still remember far too much of that site's creations. Bleaschmann. Hot Tamales. The CatFace song which I sing to actual cats to this very day. And the drumbeat pattern from the Hey! Demon (adorable).

HideTheT2BarryComes

Well let's see on, 28/07/2022 they released a quarterly report and the price has gone up. It doesn't take a genius but maybe there was some good news in it. Now it is 4 pages so you may struggle but keep at it and you may answer your own question.

litres-of-cum

First time i’ve seen the ticker but from the looks of it more people are buying than selling.

Revolutionary-Bite98

Let's go RNU! I hope PEPR approval is not far

joeycloud

Busy with work these days but it seems I didn't miss out on much. Half the small cappers I watch are green, the other half red. Tomorrow they switch roles etc.

DX6734D

But what are your thoughts on the MNS' Hot Copper lawsuit tho? That's a red flag if I seen one tbh.

joeycloud

Honestly I don't think it's a good look on MNS part. They also have an unfair dismissal case in the US but that is looking like a red herring looking into the PACER log. I'd say yellow flag but it's not a deal breaker to me since it's just a side circus at this point. Doesn't affect their projects which are already funded and in progress. Delay is not the same as Nikola-level fraud. Almost every other major EV maker and battery factory experiencing even longer delays and production headwinds. Always need to contextualise a setback to judge things. The real frustrating thing is that their factory and battery tech is legit even if not the 'world leading' level innovation they claim. Perfectly performant chemistry without cobalt which is a human rights win if all major EV makers adopted. Just incredibly short sighted communication style, chasing trolls, and poor expectation management causing own goals in terms of PR damage. They also have a new CEO starting this week that is going to be baptised in drama. If another major director exit happens or delay extends to September I'll probably reduce my position or maybe fully exit. Need the liquidity to buy into the housing dip anyways :)

DX6734D

I've gotta say the lawsuit is more damning to me that anything else I've read about MNS since I bought it. I hope the new CEO knows that it is better to just drop it. I think it is pretty much guaranteed that delay will be extended into sept, but if it gets to Nov I'd be concerned.

joeycloud

> anything's else I've read about MNS That's the problem. You can't trust the media for this particular company. Several ex-directors of Magnis have personal relationships with the owners of Murdoch media, Nine Entertainment, NSW government, ASIC, TMH and Chinese lobby groups. I really am not a tinfoil hat type person myself, but when I got suspended on HC for no policy breach, and no appeal response from the HC moderators, that's when I started feeling that there might be more truth to Magnis side of the story than The Australian / AFR. Frank's mistake for involving them in the first place, and maybe he doesn't deserve to be chair. but I've learned not to lose sleep over a gamble. If my little PTSD with LRS taught me anything is that SP is purely driven by sentiment and not fundamental value at this end of town.

Meh-Levolent

Nah, it's a lawsuit.

DX6734D

But it is a lawsuit against internet trolls, which is embarrassing af. Also Streisand effect not helping.

Meh-Levolent

I agree, it's silly. But it's also irrelevant.

EMHURLEY

Absolutely this is the takeaway.

Instantly-Regret

Tell him to go hard. He's 20. Take out a 20k loan, don't pay it back. get credit downgraded. Gone in 5-7 years. Slap on the wrist, boys will be boys. Even Collection House is fucking bankrupt so the cunts hounding you to pay can't even make it work.

Relatively limited action on Chinese lithium carbonate spot markets. 10 markets were recorded, 5 of those with slight price rises and the rest totally flat. [Here's the trend since July 11 (price rise = green)](https://imgur.com/a/NCUgPVi). Platts's latest commentary at the bottom of my post. The global electric passenger vehicle tally for June arrived: [913k units sold](https://cleantechnica.com/2022/08/01/record-ev-sales-month-globally-12-share-for-bevs/). 2022 forecasting suggested 9mill for the whole year, so it's pretty easy to see where the pressure is coming from. 453k units were insured in China during July, so that should be pretty close to the final passenger EV total. The US$6,350/t winning bid from the BMX auction was posted earlier. It gives PLS a net profit of about AU$27.5mill on that 5kt batch. This morning, the obscene amount PLS is charging converters obviously offended the market, which rotated into pre-revenue projects that won't be issuing such cruel invoices any time soon. Seems like investors are giving PLS another chance this afternoon, though. BTW, they've probably loaded about 60kt in the first 5-6 weeks of this quarter, so they'll need another 85kt loaded in the next 7-8 weeks to hit nameplate (145kt). It's 17 weeks until December, and the lithium market is still edging up, so I guess forecasting may be adjusted in a couple of months. Is the market realizing a few home truths about bringing new projects online? We know what's been happening in WA, but a glance at Argentina shows the delays are piling up there too: * Ganfeng and LAC have pushed back mid year commissioning at Cauchari-Olaroz to sometime in H2. Plans for battery grade product in 2022 *abandoned*. * AKE is lagging a bit on Olaroz II * AGY still battling to commission their 2ktpa plant, and the market seemed to respond poorly to their latest update. At a glance they still look on track to be producing relatively well by Q2 2023 * LKE pushed back proof of DLE to end of November, which means proof of entire process no earlier than Q1 2023 * GLN pushed construction back 3 months to Q4 2023 Cauchari-Olaroz and Olaroz II will have a collective output of 45ktpa, and while that wouldn't have all been battery grade, not being able to feed it to the market on schedule is still significant. After reviewing [my comments on DLE 6 weeks ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/ASX_Bets/comments/vfq9ke/comment/icxb6p4/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3), maybe I should start just adding an additional 50% to every deadline supplied by everyone. ASN's DFS surely this month?? It's time for the obligatory sodium warning, courtesy of the Rongbai Technology conference from a few weeks ago. They'll have a cheap energy storage only sodium product with a density of 60-160Wh/Kg, and an initial annual production capacity of 6000 tons. In Q2 2023, they'll be producing a superior 100-200Wh/Kg product for 2 wheelers & ESS: annual output 36,000 tons. They're suggesting that a 10,000t sodium facility will produce cathode for a rough cost of \~RMB300 per kWh. Current LFP chemistries cost about RMB685 per kWh. Platts (they expected BMX around 6.1-6.2k/t): >Demand for nickel-manganese-cobalt or NCM was bearish, while lithium iron phosphate or LFP capacities have been expanding and have become the main driver of high lithium prices, a Chinese converter said. Any spike in lithium salt prices would be detrimental to both mid- and downstream users and lithium manganese oxide, which requires lithium salts, already costs at least Yuan 130,000/mt to produce, a Chinese precursor maker said. “However, nobody wants to buy \[LMO\] at Yuan 120,000/mt; some buyers are even asking for Yuan 80,000/mt. If this persists, production will be reduced and downstream procurement will also be reduced, creating a weak market that’s hard to survive,” he added. Another Chinese precursor maker attributed the high prices to supply-demand fundamentals. “In the long term, prices need to fall as there’s still a lot of pressure domestically. However, in the near term, there’s still a very strong support for prices to remain at current levels,” he said. Some market sources remained optimistic despite the high lithium prices. “Demand for LFP is still very strong, our customers are actively trying to increase volumes,” a Chinese converter said. “If lithium prices plummet, it’s not good for them as it affects their profit margin,” he added. “The lithium market is heavily reliant on the LFP sector; NCM is tough to sell now as the production cost is around Yuan 300,000/mt but actual tradable levels are only at Yuan 200,000/mt, incurring heavy losses,” a Chinese precursor maker said. ~~“The upcoming auction will surpass the previous price of $6,188/mt (for 5.5% lithium oxide). Contract prices are already reaching $6,000/mt; should there be any spot cargo available, it should trade around $6,100-$6,200/mt," he said.~~ "Lithium salt prices will also move after the auction,” he added. As always, I don't find commentary from random individuals hugely useful.

nohorncap

>LKE pushed back proof of DLE to end of November, which means proof of entire process no earlier than Q1 2023 It just feels so good to do the OH, WHAT A SURPRISE/I TOLD YOU SO! etc etc. Thankyou for your wise counsel, as always, JSwyft. re: PLS BMX: "BTW, they've probably loaded about 60kt in the first 5-6 weeks of this quarter, so they'll need another 85kt loaded in the next 7-8 weeks to hit nameplate (145kt)." I will check after markets open, but assuming we don't know when the next BMX is? How do they know? Do they work to a calendar/when they're ready? (so many questions!)

JSwyft

In theory, BMX auctions should be 15,000t per month, but due to H1 production issues, they have to catch up some of their formula contract commitments. So it’s unpredictable at this stage. Currently, there’s about one 5k auction every 3 weeks, rarely announced precisely in advance, but mainly on Tuesdays. Prices are so high that I guess they’ll have to keep the tonnage small, or they’ll price out smaller bidders (though smaller bidders haven’t had a chance so far). I’ll speculate on them working their way up to 7kt every fortnight.

nohorncap

Thankyou for your wise counsel as always, kind sir :)

Calm_Lengths

At this stage, I'm wondering if the ASN DFS is already priced in and people are waiting to sell the news

JSwyft

Definitely agree with selling the news, though I think the SP can pop a bit depending on the magnitude of the NPV, and whether they include an expanded 20-25ktpa case (needs 700k of LCE). Also, anything that convinces people that they can accelerate the path to production, even if it's dubious. If it disappoints in those areas, it'll spell trouble.

Calm_Lengths

Yeah, at this stage the recent announcements indicate that the NPV can be improved from the PFS but it's still based on exploration targets

sneakycutler

Cheers. Bullish on PLS? (med-term)

JSwyft

The time to get in was probably a short while ago, but they should be on track for AU$500m per quarter at these spot prices, so I don't think they're fully recognized by the market yet. Would like to see more detailed economics on the Calix phosphate JV.

sneakycutler

Got in late last yr, now average is $3.29 😮‍💨

nohorncap

You can totally average that down… there has been dips to around 2.62 in just the last week, so you can work on upping your amount of shares and bringing that average down. It would not surprise me to see a dip to 2.5 and below, so make the most of that :)

LazerNips89

Well look at that, some climate legislation. Just wish the bar wasn't so fucking low 🥲

sneakycutler

Scotty's bar was that he exceed the 'Kyoto protocol agreement'. And he was proud of it too. Im dead.

HiVisEngineer

He didn’t even exceed Kyoto, wasn’t it all accounting tricks?

AureusStone

His plan was also to give billions to fossil fuel companies and hope some magic future tech allows us to hit the target without doing anything.

sneakycutler

It’s the go-to strategy for politicians (or people) who don’t believe in climate change or who dont want to change aspects of their lives to help the cause: “just invest in better technology”

DrizzyDradle

Which wouldn't be that bad if they had actually invested in it: >**Fossil fuel subsidies cost Australians a staggering $11.6 billion in 2021-22,** an increase of $1.3 billion in the last year, according to new Australia Institute research. > >[link](https://australiainstitute.org.au/post/australian-fossil-fuel-subsidies-surge-to-11-6-billion-in-2021-22/) >The Morrison government will continue to fund **Australia’s renewable energy agency to the tune of $1.43bn over a decade** but overhaul its mandate so there will be less investment in solar and wind, and more focus on investment in hydrogen, carbon capture and storage, microgrids and energy efficiency. > >[link](https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2020/sep/17/coalition-to-divert-renewable-energy-funding-away-from-wind-and-solar) That's $143M a year on renewables investment, against $11.6B a year on fossil fuel subsidies

icanhasanonymity

Those "fossil fuel subsidies" aren't what they look like on face value. They're for the most part a refund for a tax they paid upfront for but did not need to. They are not "fossil fuel subsidies". I'm not a fossil fuel mining / burning company and I also claim this exact same type of refund each financial year.

I just read this article on the front page of the SMH [Can the ‘millionaires factory’ continue its bumper run of profits?](https://www.smh.com.au/money/investing/can-the-millionaires-factory-continue-its-bumper-run-of-profits-20220731-p5b624.html) I’ve had my eye on Macquarie for the past 24 months, great company, but now with high interest rates, slowing of the economy, it’s SP has fallen lately. Is anyone else interested in the company as a long-term hold, and what entry price is attractive to you?

eternaloptimist__

I recently started to DCA in monthly, planning to accumulate and hold for 5-10 years depending what life does. I don’t hold any ETF’s and my husband puts his savings into a bank account so I wanted something ~safe~ but not *boring* so i for one am hoping they continue to be a well managed business. Had to edit for spelling.

sneakycutler

I’m sure you’d agree with me that it’s more likely riskier than not that leaving your money in your savings account - given the high inflationary environment- is much riskier than investing it in a blue chip with fully franked divs.

Yeah I think I agree however I’m not confident or well read enough to tell somebody else what to do with their hard earned coin, married or not haha! Husbands PF is about $130k (of mostly pennies) though so having 30ish in a bank account doesn’t bother me if it makes him feel like we have a safety net, so even at our current saving rate it’s not like ‘most of’ our money is just sitting idle. It’s just not what I’m choosing to do with our savings from my income because I will literally spend it or buy more pennies haha. As they say, variety is the spice of life!

sneakycutler

Oh i must’ve misread and thought he put all savings into his bank account (with no investment PF)

eternaloptimist__

Haha not your fault, I didn’t specify at all!

sneakycutler

All good, i just realised I missed a word in my original reply “it’s more likely RISKIER than not” I would never give financial advice lol.

eternaloptimist__

Nobody here would ever!

MQG is my boomer stock love interest. I've turned DRP on and I'll just leave it there to do its thing.

sneakycutler

Im gutted that BHP is not your boomer stock love interest. Betrayal of the miner squad. 😝 When I first started I thought DRP would be tax-free for some reason and therefore a no-brainer. But now, I turn it off. Feel I can use it up to inject into my other speccies that i hold med-long term.

88xeeetard

Lol, I thought the same about DRP and also turned it off when I found out that it wasn't tax free to invest in speccies.

kervio

if it makes you feel better, I held BHP for many years.

sneakycutler

No it does not.

coastie_trader

Ima buy some next time the ASX goes blood red across the board. I have it in a buy list i call “long term holds”. MQG owns/invests in something like 10% of the worlds renewable energy source Co’s. IMO it will go moon eventually. DYOR

CoalChris

MQG keeps me afloat when the speccies are all down 30%. Love this thing

sneakycutler

Do you hold enough to have your divs make a significant difference?

CoalChris

No but if you look at the SP it has a very good history. Divvies are just a bonus. I hold about 15% of my portfolio

Tacomaster33

If your timeframe is long term, then short term issues like interest rates or timing the business cycle is basically irrelevant. Every year they perform well essentially, they are known for under promising and over delivering. just look at the results when interest rates were 5%+ or when the markets barely moved I any given year. Entry price? Just before it goes up again

sneakycutler

Thanks Warren

tragicnostalgic

Pfizer sweetens the pot on RAP takeover. For once I’m grateful for the deluded retail investors whining on HotCopper

coastie_trader

At one point recently all my speccies were -30% to -40% Pretty much all have recovered now, except for my new doggy woof woof named VML.

LazerNips89

Go you beautiful barstard!!! My poor species are still deep in the pain cave 🥲

Simonpink

Mine too. Still have 4 that are sitting between 40-60% and 3 that are between 20-30% down. My LTR is back into bag territory, so I’ll take that.

coastie_trader

I do have AVZ the fucking dogshit mf
