I wouldn’t say this is a buying the dip opportunity. Fed tightening still continues. Some might be able to make some quick profit doing the swing trade.
I'm down .67% but it feels like a good green day. After spending a couple of days in the IHL bunker and looking at futures this morning I was expecting to get wrecked.

Somebody please explain to US investors that market movements don't always need to be in integers.
I've added **LKE** to the [comparison table](https://www.reddit.com/r/ASX_Bets/comments/pt2r4n/comment/hdtz5ug/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3). That's a really stupid idea, because PFSs are even more inaccurate than DFSs, and funding + process hasn't been confirmed. But I thought it might demystify the price action a little.
As usual, I've pulled numbers from the documents which I don't agree with. I've kept it in line with the hard rock projects in that I've penalized capacity, but accepted that 100% of the product will achieve grade specification. Costs are a little light, but it won't have a profound affect until you get to the bottom 2 price columns. LKE has been given a P/E of 15, as it's two places above the hard rock projects in the [supply chain](https://www.reddit.com/r/ASX_Bets/comments/qclw98/comment/hhh0tx3/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3).
A reminder that my table tries to assess capital gains based on lithium being cyclical. So pace of development & movement downstream are very influential.
AVZ have disconnected from others a bit, as they've been in a trading halt during the last two days of carnage.
FFX management must be rueing their tardiness now—they've got 2 weeks to get the SP to a level that makes the pro-rata offer attractive.
Tesla is [ramping up battery recycling](https://electrek.co/2022/05/09/tesla-increase-battery-recycling-capacity-battery-packs/).
I've got LLL being worth \~$800mill according to peers in the current climate. Add $25mill in cash.
They probably won't be able to complete the $100mill cap raise now, so I'm not sure if I can still use the 1,197,000 for the full float. But:
825mill / 1,197,000,000 = 69 cents.
So the priority offer is redundant at this stage, unfortunately.
However, the huge reduction in valuation has also affected Morila, so the above feels a bit ridiculous given that gold is holding up relatively well. It should be <69 cents, IMO. I'd consider waiting until closer to the offer end date if I were a holder...
Nice write up mate. I have recently taken a fancy to battery storage systems (Tesla in particular). I will be doing some more research into it but this could be an absolutely massive growth area for lithium that is largely unaccounted for.
[watch the whole thing](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wgLLPjLZz9o).
I want to put a battery pack on my folks house one day as they live rurally (have plenty of power outages) and also now have a great solar system.
Thanks, I'll have a watch when I've got a spare hour.
I totally agree about ESSs being a massive growth area, but I'm noncommittal about lithium's dominant role in it.
I think a Tesla powerwall warranty guarantees \~5k cycles, but probably goes for a fair bit longer, maybe 20 years in total.
For sodium batteries, 1st generation has 140Wh/kg density, which is acceptable for an ESS, IMO. However, we'll need to wait for the 2nd generation for >4k cycles, even though I think they still need to improve on that.
However, I have a lot of faith in Chinese innovation in that area, so I think sodium will present itself as a viable ESS solution within the next half decade, and potentially be more popular than lithium.
But as I've mentioned before, I see sodium running alongside lithium, not replacing it.
Thanks mate. Definitely going to do some more research into it to compare brands etc (I've only looked at Powerwalls) but they would definitely pay themselves off quickly pretty quickly.
I think they ship the batteries to china, where they have bought an abandoned strip mine, they fill the mine with batteries, cover it with top soil, build an apartment block on top and call it a day.
/s.... for legal reasons.
I haven't taken a proper look at NMT, so I can't be sure. Tesla [explains their recycling](https://www.tesla.com/ns_videos/2021-tesla-impact-report.pdf#page=96) from page 96 onwards, but I'm yet to read that too.
Also Former Tesla CTO (and Tesla Co Founder) JB Straubel (Musks battery guy) started Redwood Materials in 2017 and eventually left Tesla to work on the battery recycling problem full time. They are already pretty far along, they already recycle all the waste from Panasonics production line in the Nevada giga factory amoung other things. They also started selling recycled copper back for use in batteries last year. I'm not sure if they sell other recycled materials for battery use yet.
I've never had much faith the NMT will be globally competitive.
My feeling has always been that battery manufacturers like CATL/Tesla/Panasonic etc would start to offer modest incentives for consumers to return end of life batteries, or somehow build it into their deals with auto makers.
For that reason, I'm shy on rival recycling projects. But to be fair, I don't like to place bets in technology races in general, so that's just me.

Yeah, you're just gambling your average down.
