eddie-murphys-tongue

Absolutely gut wrenching. I could cry right now this is just so unfair

Maximumlnsanity

This is the same damn feeling I had when AJ went down vs Melbourne, like fucking identical

uselessscientist

I was at the game and cried like a baby. Not a great look for a grown man, but people around me seemed oddly alright with it

sensual_lettuce

Nothing wrong with a grown man crying! We have feelings too.

johnmclean88

That was enough to make a grown man cry.

chngminxo

Same, mate. The guy can’t catch a break.

alittlebitfancy

Man this is fucking devastating. Can only wish all the best for Cray in another recovery. Hope he can still have another crack for us the way AJ did a few years ago at the very least, and hopefully more.

chngminxo

I agree. I want him back playing on our seniors list but at the same time I start to wonder how much affect these knee injuries will have on his life going forward. At what point is it dangerous to continue playing?

Maximumlnsanity

This is the same club taking a punt on Paddy McCartin

defzx

Sometimes I think we are to slow at moving chronically injured players on.

Maximumlnsanity

I think as long as they're not on huge wages (cough cough Sam Reid) and are good for the club culture I have no issues with keeping players like AJ and Cray around, especially when we can just rookie them

chngminxo

Plus sticking with them can still have return. Cray must be a great figure to have around the club, he’s always seemed popular, so hopefully he’s heading for a continued career with the swans. Just not as a player.

defzx

I'm cool with that as long as we address our ruck problem, we need another option

Maximumlnsanity

We did draft McAndrew like a week ago, and there's always Sinclair if Hickey gets hurt.

defzx

I did forget about McAndrew

Maximumlnsanity

I think we might double dip on ruck prospects now that Cray's pretty much done and grab another in November

sensual_lettuce

Nailed it with Hanners it seems

Wishfyfewas23

Think this is the end for him unfortunately. He’ll be on the wrong side of 30 once he recovers from this. Don’t often see teams keep on injury prone 30+ year olds. Sydney had horrible luck with AJ and now Naismith. Hope he’s doing ok mentally

Maximumlnsanity

I'm so upset. Football isn't fair man. God fucking dammit, worst nightmare confirmed Edit: At least he's got a [good sense of humour about it](https://imgur.com/a/nQlDI2e)

chngminxo

Between him and Alex Johnson, there’s just been such shit luck. It’s so cruel, I can’t imagine how he must feel.

Maximumlnsanity

This will take it to 4 whole season gone, and 2 games in 2020 (one of which he was already injured before playing). It's starting to look very AJ-esque for Cray

chngminxo

Just awful. I really hope he has a strong support group around him because the mental health toll must be immense.

Maximumlnsanity

He is a sponsor for Black Dog so I assume he'll have all the support he needs

gordles

Devastating news but fuck me his comment made me laugh

ahigs257

Life is pain

OpinionatedAussie1

I hate saying this, but just pack it in Sammy

chngminxo

He probably will, but he’s in contract until the end of next year so the swans will still support his rehab.

dazedjosh

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKK Honestly, I think that's his career done. He's contracted for next year so he'll get the medical care he needs, but no way he goes beyond that. His knees clearly aren't up to it.

tiny_doughnut

Ugh, this is rough. I’ve got a soft spot for the Swans (only exception when they play Hawthorn), but damnit, knees suck 😔

BrizzyMalteser95

Man, I found this out from a friend who shared the story in a group chat... As soon as I saw it my heart sunk.

Maximumlnsanity

[Bigfooty had apparently posted this rumour a week ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/sydneyswans/comments/nrujql/vfl_team_named_to_face_southport/h0kuxmd/). I didn't want to believe it, straight up I refused to even consider it to be true

takingheed

Got. To. Be. Kidding. Surely that’s it for his career. So disappointing for him.

curryone

One of my favourites. This is incredibly sad.

johnmclean88

Horrible news, unlucky Cray, graft failures seem to be coming more common, 3rd times a charm hopefully

JennaStannis

Gutted for him. Poor bloke. No words, really. Just so, so disappointed.

Ayush189

Not fair :(

IrateWizard

Fuckity fuck

I_Fard_On_Children

poor bloke :( injuries suck

chngminxo

Genuinely gutted. This sport can be so fucking cruel. Heart goes out to Cray.
