Walking Dead Season 7 Casting May Have Just Revealed Who Died

Who Did Negan Kill as we prepare for Walking Dead Season 7

Did Casting for Walking Dead Season 7 Really Just Reveal Who Negan Killed?

The Walking Dead giveth and The Walking Dead taketh away, and it looks like the Walking Dead Season 7 will be no different. Some of the new people are good, like Jesus, and others are Negan and his barbed-wired bat, Lucille, who help facilitate the taking away of characters. Now, before we go one, let’s go ahead and throw up a friendly SPOILER tag here. You’ve been warned. During Season 6, we were shown Negan’s gang, the Saviors, and how they managed to survive in this post-apocalyptic world fraught with zombies and death, by, well, intimidating and beating other survivors into providing them with supplies.  And if a few folks die along the way, well, that’s just the way it goes. And at the end of Season 6, Negan finally stepped forward, swinging for the fences with his Lucille, and knocked one of the main characters out of the series, leaving us all to wonder, well who was it?

Well, according to TVLine and Design Trend, in a casting call that recently went out for The Walking Dead Season 7, the show’s producers are looking to cast the role of ‘Augustus,’ an African-American male in his 40s, “an eccentric, charismatic and kind leader [that] projects a regal air of confidence and wisdom to his people.”  Even more telling, the casting call mentions that his elaborate manner of dress and his attitude may come off as theatrical to those who don’t know him. Now, there is no Augustus in the Walking Dead comics, but this figure sounds very much like fan-favorite Ezekiel, the leader of another survivor community which has ties to Hilltop. In the comics, Ezekiel is introduced to Rick through Jesus, and they come up with a plan to take out Negan and the survivors in part to avenge the death of [SPOILERS, NO REALLY] Glen. That’s right, in the comics, Negan kills Glen. So, with Season 7 looking to add what appears to be the TV show’s version of Ezekiel, does that mean the show is also going with Glen as Lucille’s victim at the end of season 6?

Glen and Lucille meet during Season 6 of the Walking Dead

If you’re undecided, here’s another bit of news that may support the “Glen is Dead Meat” theory. Steven Yeun, the actor who plays Glen, has just started work, along with Tilda Swinton, Paul Dano, and Jake Gyllenhaal, on Okja, a new Netflix movie. Okja, also the name of a genetically manufactured pig in the movie who won’t stop growing, began shooting earlier this month on the 22nd, with locations in South Korea, Canada and the U.S. And with The Walking Dead Season 7 set to begin shooting mere weeks from now, and set to premiere in October, is this another indicator that Yeun’s involvement with the new season will be somewhat “limited?” We hope not (not Glen!), but there’s starting to be a lot of little bits and scraps to support that theory.

One other thing to consider.  If Augustus is indeed the corollary to Ezekiel, will they also bring along Shiva?  No, no, not The Destroyer, but Ezekiel’s pet tiger.  Yeah, that’s right, a tiger. It makes a little more sense if you know that Ezekiel was a zookeeper in his previous life, and rescued Shiva after the outbreak. So, would Shiva be hard to do?  Absolutely. But would the Walking Dead Season 7 benefit from more tiger? Absolutely.

So, what do you think about this newest addition? Is this Ezekiel? Is Glen toast? And most importantly, are we getting a tiger?
