Stephen King fans everywhere are rejoicing, following the release of the first episode of a Hulu original miniseries 11.22.63 based on King’s novel of the same name.
The TV show stars James Franco as Jake Epping, a high-school teacher who longs to do something meaningful and leave a mark on history. He finds encouragement from his friend Al Templeton, portrayed by Chris Cooper, who helps him find a way to travel back in time to prevent the assassination of John F. Kennedy. This Sci-Fi / Crime / Mystery show has Franco explore various aspects of the JFK assassination, including mysteries regarding Lee Harvey Oswald. During his journey, he will not only face numerous adversaries but also fight past itself, as the past does not wish to be changed in any way. Sarah Gadon portrays Jake’s love interest, Sadie Dunhil, a 1960s librarian from Texas.
This adaptation is being produced by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions, known for its involvement with many critically acclaimed TV shows such as Person of Interest, Fringe, Alias, and Lost, as well as various high profile theatrically released movies such as the new Star Trek movies and the recent Star Wars: The Force Awakens. On this project, Bad Robot Productions is collaborating with Warner Bros. and Stephen King himself. The first episode aired on the 15th of February, with seven more to follow in the near future. Although some parts of the TV series are different from the book, Stephen King reasserted fans that the fans have nothing to worry about. He adds that fans should be on the lookout for Easter eggs hidden in the episodes where he has planted references to his other works, such as It and The Dark Tower series, as reported in an interview for Yahoo TV. The series will follow the standard weekly tempo with the next episode airing on the 22nd of February.
