Superman Casting Revealed For The CW’s Supergirl Season 2

Supergirl from the hit CBS show

Aside From the Superman Casting, Not Much Is Known About How Big Supes Role Will Be

With Season one of the popular female-centric superhero show Supergirl drawing to a close, and we have some very exciting news for the fans of the Super family. During an interview, the CW (who is taking over the show as it jumps from CBS) and Warner Brothers have announced their Superman casting choice, someone they feel is the perfect actor to take on the role of the Man of Steel. And the man for the job is Tyler Hoechlin, who first started getting attention as a young actor, with a role as Michael Sullivan Jr (the main character’s son) opposite Tom Hanks, Paul Newman, and Daniel Craig in Road to Perdition. More recently, he spent time on MTV’s Teen Wolf as Derek Hale, an Alpha werewolf pack leader during the first four seasons.

While we still don’t know much about Superman’s role, as the details of Superman/Clark Kent’s involvement is still a tightly guarded secret, we do know that he’ll be visiting his cousin at the beginning of season two, appearing in the first two episodes.

Supergirl executive producer Andrew Kreisberg had this to say during the casting announcement:

Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman. We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.”

Sadly, we will have to wait until October when the show returns for the second season to see how this young actor fares in the role of one of the most famous comic book characters of all time.

What do you think about the Superman casting? Can you image Hoechlin as an iconic Clark Kent? Let us know in the comments.
