Official Trailer:

Star Wars The Force Awakens was filmed in 9 locations including Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), New Mexico (US), and Scotland (UK)

With any big film, there are multiple complications and Star Wars is no exception. Some were minor inconveniences like leaked Photos and Details involving the plot. Others, however, were more serious. Reports say the set Millennium Falcon fell and struck Harrison Ford, fracturing a bone in his left leg. Ford was okay and when asked about the event Abrams said this:

“In a weird way, it was the greatest gift to the movie that, once it was clear Harrison would be OK, the way that the crew came together.”

“And when Harrison came back, when I say he came back better and stronger than ever, I can’t overstate that. There was a fire in his eyes that you see in the movie.”

Abrams appeared on The Daily Show with John Stewart and stated that he was injured that same day trying to help Harrison Ford after his Accident:

“I’m trying to lift him up because that’s the kind of guy I am,”

“I’m trying to lift this door and I hear a pop [in my back] and I go, ‘Oh, that’s weird.’ So I go to the doctor a couple of days after and he goes, ‘Oh, you have a broken back.'”

The doctor informed Abrams that he had broken his L4 in his spine. Despite these events, there was no need to delay the film, much to the relief of the fans.

Practical Effects

Director J.J. Abrams stated from the start that he wanted to use as many “practical special effects” as possible. Here is a video showcasing some of those effects:

Puppets, prosthetics, and suits reminiscent of the techniques used in Star Wars 4, 5, and 6. Crew members building X-wings and pieces of the Millennium Falcon. This video goes to show the great lengths that the whole team went to ensure a greater connection between the original trilogy and Star Wars The Force Awakens.

The Motion Score:

John Williams will, of course, be composing the score for Star Wars The Force Awakens. There were many rumors that Michael Giacchino would be composing. This rumor gained a lot of traction considering his long time working relationship with J.J. Abrams. However Michael Giacchino was quoted saying this:

“If it were up to me, I would say ‘John, you must do it”‘

Needless to say, fans everywhere rejoiced when they found out Williams would return to score the film. Considering Williams past work, we believe it is safe to expect great things from the Star Wars The Force Awakens score.

The Antagonist

The First Order

With the Death Star destroyed and the Emperor dead the rebellion celebrates a major victory, but not a complete victory. Just as one does not simply walk into Mordor, one does not simply defeat the empire with one victory. The First Order seems to be at least one of the factions that steps up to take the emperors place and has been confirmed as the main Antagonist for Star Wars The Force Awakens. The First Order is working on a weapon that will make the Death Star look like child’s play. We also know that The First Order has a high ranking officer named General Hux who is in charge of a base called Starkiller base. This, as any hardcore Star Wars fan knows, is a reference to Luke’s name in the original trilogies early scripts, Luke Starkiller. Whether this means that Luke will have a connection to this base or not, it’s a fun little easter egg and fans seem to be anxious for more information on this mysterious base, it’s leader, and how it will play into the Star Wars The Force Awakens plot.

Supreme Leader Snoke

Very little is known about Snoke. It has been leaked that he will have a snake like appearance and that he is the villain pulling the strings much like the emperor. We do not know if he is the leader of the First Order as his name would suggest, or if he is completely separate. It has been confirmed that Andy Serkis is the voice speaking: “There has been an awakening: the dark side… and the light.” in the first teaser trailer. With so little to go off of, we may just have to wait till December to find out more about this dark figure’s role in the Star Wars The Force Awakens plot and if he will continue into Star Wars 8 and 9.

The Protagonists

Not much has been confirmed about the good guys. One thing that has been confirmed is that the Rebel Alliance has changed its name to The Resistance. Another is that Finn and Rey will be at some point meeting up with Han and Chewy. Though we don’t know how, why, or to what end. However, there are mountains of rumors and theories. One of the most popular is that Finn and Rey have found Anakin Skywalkers Lightsaber. The same lightsaber that was given to Luke by Obi-Wan and then was lost when Darth Vader and Luke faced for the first time in the cloud city. The trailer seems to all but confirm this with some pretty detailed shots of the lightsaber. While this theory has fans drooling and foaming at the mouth, it has not officially been confirmed as part of the Star Wars The Force Awakens plot.

With Disney feeding us information about the Star Wars The Force Awakens plot at speeds relative to snails, we are left to wonder, Will Star Wars The Force Awakens be another Phantom Menace? Or will it blow expectations into a galaxy far far away? (I apologize for nothing) Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
