No, they haven't made any changes to it since its original implementation. Hell, it *still* has accuracy upgrades, which are a total non-issue nowadays. And the Healer and DPS skill trees are by far the best ones to choose from (personally I recommend Healer).

luna_panshiel

they actually have significantly increased the enmity it generates back in shadowbringers, mainly so it can tank for people playing healers

maplecards

I recommend going healer tree first, even if you plan on playing mostly a healer. I typically keep my Chocobo in Free mode unless I need more healing.

Healer >>> DPS >>>>>>>>Tank

stinusmeret

Max out healer first, then DPS, ignore the tank one.

wntrwolfx

Only time I've used tank was as blm doing hunting logs. Aggro was trash so yea healer is godly, followed by dps if you can self-sustain.

ookiespookie

You can change it on the fly, so I use what I need at the time. Usually I have it on heal , but have put it on tank at times when leveling in some areas and some jobs.

Alaerei

>You can change it on the fly, so I use what I need at the time. Technically, though you can only max out a single skill line without investing into onions.

In general it most oftenly looks like this: - If you are a DPS job => Pick Healer - If you are a Healer job => Pick DPS - If you are a Tank job => Pick DPS/Healer In general, Tank chocobos barely do anything for you and are rarely used.

Moogle-Mail

> If you are a Healer job => Pick DPS Nope, it doesn't matter what job you are - pick healer.

Eventually, you'll be able to unlock every ability except one between all three trees. Healer is generally the best of the three and can help you survive tougher fights, especially when FATE farming. DPS is good to help your healers take enemies out reasonably quickly or speed up farming enemies. Tank is really only useful to keep enemies off you for a few seconds before you take back control. Unless you let the Tank Choco have a long headstart and waste a lot of time, it probably won't be doing much tanking.

somewormholepilot

At max level all the nodes should be unlocked.

BlyZeraz

The Chocobo's tiny healing will be more useful off the bat then anything else. It'll never be able to grab and keep aggro even if it were fully trained on tank mode so that's just for the final extra stat buffs. If you are gonna main healer yourself, dps focused building will just be the obvious pick to deal with adds around the world faster. Speed is key.

Afaik and iirc you can max all 3 skill trees at chocobo rank 20, but until then, it's always healer regardless of my role, then free style AFTER i maxed the dps tree (tho I've heard to not pick the last skill of healer tree until rank 20 as it'd make the chocobo keep spamming it over other skills but idk if they changed that) and it stays free style until the end, the chocobo seems to be consistently utilizing all of its skills in the 3 trees to me.

Moogle-Mail

> (tho I've heard to not pick the last skill of healer tree until rank 20 as it'd make the chocobo keep spamming it over other skills but idk if they changed that) That was fixed years ago. It used to be that your chocobro would use chocobo medica far too often even if you were really low on health, but that's no longer the case.

Aniki356

If you're not playing as a healer healer bird best

Limited_opsec

Healer 4. Then dps 1 so you can have it do more than 0 damage when you don't need heals, example: boss fates with someone outside the party tanking, really easy stuff dies faster, etc. Without even 1 point in the dps tree they won't try to hit a mob. Then finish healer, overflow points into dps can help a bit. Getting them up to the stun is pretty handy, they will usually only use it on mob "casts". Tank tree last, you never set them to tank mode, so just for getting the passive buffs. They can't hold aggro for crap anyways. After 10 you need thav onion every level, sometimes overpriced so be sure to server hop. At 20 they can get everything. You should have a bunch of jobs at 90 by the time they cap, it is slow as fuck.

Lilmagex2324

No real point in the tank one. It's damage is pretty bad. It's just there to keep you alive. Anything else is extra.
