Wonder Woman from Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice

The Upcoming Wonder Woman Movie Is Shaping Up Nicely

Wonder Woman has stolen Batman and Superman’s thunder in the new Batman v. Superman movie, and she has managed to spark quite some interest in the world of comic book/movie fans. And now, a new image from the upcoming Wonder Woman movie, starring Gal Gadot, has hit the Internet.

The character of Wonder Woman has been on the scene for quite some time now – the warrior princess of the Amazons, Princess Diana of Themyscira, first appeared in All Star Comics #8 back in 1941. Ever since then, this feisty superheroine has remained one of the top-selling comic book characters in the DC Universe, and her depiction as a heroine fighting for justice, love, peace, and gender equality has led to Wonder Woman being widely considered as a feminist icon. There were numerous movies and TV shows, as well as animated films featuring Diana, but it’s been over 30 years since the last big live-action movie featuring Wonder Woman. And now, after the success of Batman v. Superman, she’s finally getting her own movie.

First look at upcoming Wonder Woman movie

In the new photo released a few days ago, we can see that there will be other Amazonians in the movie, besides the princess. Wonder Woman, standing in front of three other Amazonians, is clad in golden armor, holding a shield, and looking like a badass. On her left side, there is Lisa Loven Kongsli, a Norwegian actress playing Themyscira war hero Menalippe, Wonder Woman’s aunt. Beside her is Connie Nielsen, who will be playing Diana’s mother, Queen Hippolyta. And far right, we can see Robin Wright, who is to play General Antiope, also an aunt to Diana. In the background, we can also see parts of Themyscira, which, according to producer Charles Roven “is influenced by the Greek but it’s clearly more than that. It’s a place that has the ‘you’ve never been to’ kind of feel. But once you’re there you’re not so sure you really want to leave so fast.”

The movie is set for release in June 2017, so mark the date on your calendar now, as this is starting to look like a pretty great movie,
