Neal Asher’s War Factory is the Second Book In the Transformation Series

If you are a fan of sci-fi author Neal Asher, or just good sci-fi in general, you will be pleased to know that his latest book in the Transformation series was released just a few days ago, titled War Factory. Asher is a prolific sci-fi writer, with over 15 books in the genre, as well as many novellas and short stories. Many of his most successful and well-known books (including the Transformation series) are set in a future history called the Polity Universe. This universe and much of the other fiction Neal Asher writes is a compelling mixture of sci-fi and cyberpunk. Asher’s books include many familiar sci-fi tropes, such as AI that the world, hive minds, new alien races, and androids.

War Factory follows the events from the previous book in the Transformation series, Dark Intelligence. Here’s the official synopsis:

Thorvald Spear, resurrected from his death over a hundred years earlier, continues to hunt Penny Royal, the rogue AI and dangerous war criminal on the run from Polity forces. Penny Royal meanwhile continues to pull all the strings in the background, keeping the Polity at bay and seizing control of an attack ship. It seeks Factory Station Room 101, a wartime manufacturing space station believed to be destroyed. What does it want with the factory? And will Spear find the rogue AI before it gets there?”

Many of the characters from Asher’s previous works set in the Polity Universe appear here, particularly from Dark Intelligence, so you will still get to see some of your favorite characters back in action, along with relentless pacing, high-tech science, gritty space battles, and dangerous new worlds.

Or, if you’re new to Neal Asher, but are a fan of Stephen Baxter, Alastair Reynolds, or Greg Bear, The Transformation series may be just the right intro into the Polity Universe for you.
