NBC’s New Pilot Time Sounds Very Interesting
Details have finally been revealed about NBC’s new pilot Time, and possible new TV show, created in partnership with Sony Pictures Television and Davis Entertainment. This new project also represents a collaboration between two veterans of television: Eric Kripke, known as the creator of “Supernatural,” and Shawn Ryan, known as the creator of “The Shield.” The project is set to be both written and produced by the duo, and is being described as “Back To The Future meets Mission: Impossible.” Neil Marshall, known for directing “The Descent” and being nominated for an Emmy award for his Game of Thrones episode “The Watchers on the Wall,” will be the director.
If picked up, the series will follow a trio of time travelers, played by Abigail Spencer (Cowboys and Aliens, Oz the Great and Powerful, Suits), Matt Lanter (90210, Star Wars: The Clone Wars), and Malcolm Barett (The Hurt Locker, Dear White People). The trio’s job will be stopping a time-travelling antagonist Garcia Flynn in his plans to change the course of human history and alter the time continuum. The role of Garcia Flynn will be played by Goran Visnjic, a TV series veteran known for his role in the smash hit TV show ER, as well as playing Spartacus in the 2004 miniseries version. His role is described by Deadline as a “vulnerable, damaged and oddly emotional…a dangerous man who is guided by a strange journal from some other period of time and an evil plan shrouded in mystery”
As of now, there is no information as to when the pilot might air, but it seems likely that it will come out sometime during the 2016-2017 season. The show and the idea have been in development since August, and the show sparked a bidding war between the “Big Four” networks.
