Ancillary Mercy

Sci-Fi Books of 2016 - Ancillary Mercy Cover

This book is supposedly the final book the in “Imperial Radch” series by Anne Leckie. It is expected to come out in February 2016. This Series of books has put a breath of fresh air and new life into a stereotypical plot where spaceships are traveling throughout space for what seems like lifetimes for a final epic battle amongst the stars. As she ties political twists into a hopeless journey, There is one person who you are rooting for on every page, and that is the singled out lone wolf who has been separated from her ship; Breq. So what could this final book possibly be about? How could every question be answered in just 336 pages?
Let’s take a quick look at what the back of the book says…
“For a moment, things seemed to be under control for Breq, the soldier who used to be a warship. Then a search of Athoek Station’s slums turns up someone who shouldn’t exist, and a messenger from the mysterious Presger empire arrives, as does Breq’s enemy, the divided and quite possibly insane Anaander Mianaai – ruler of an empire at war with itself.”

“Breq refuses to flee with her ship and crew because that would leave the people of Athoek in terrible danger. The odds aren’t good, but that’s never stopped her before.”
So what if I told you that there is a rumor going around this trilogy is going to be turned into a TV show? Would you freak out? Well, don’t freak out yet. Rumors have been going around since 2014 that this incredible trilogy is going to be scripted into a TV show by the same people who produced the Netflix series “The Killing”. But don’t lose your mind yet, because as of now it’s still just speculation.

All the Birds in the Sky

With one of the coolest covers ever to be on the front of a book, Charlie Jane Anders has written her next masterpiece and it is set to be released in late January 2016.
This novel is about two friends who thought that they would never see each other again while in middle school. The two girls developed magical powers and created a 2 second time machine. They find themselves living in San Francisco as the world is falling apart around. With one of them being a genius and working as an engineer to stop catastrophic events from happening, and the other working with a group of magicians to remedy the world sicknesses, they have no idea that their paths are about to cross once again.
This apocalyptic joy ride comes with an underlying sense of dark humor that may make you reevaluate your life. So buckle up, this is a must read.

Calamity

Most Anticipated Sci-Fi Books of 2016 calamityBrandon Sanderson is to release the third book of his Reckoners series in the middle of February 2016. With his last book “Firefight” being released only 13 months before Calamity, Brandon did everyone a favor by not making fans of the series wait for years and years to know what’s going to happen to their beloved characters next.

As we read what this set of chapters is about, it reveals just enough to make us drool a little and turn slightly red with anger that though we don’t have to wait long, we still have to wait; and one more day of waiting feels like too long with what we are told happens next.
Take a look.

“When Calamity lit up the sky, the Epics were born. David’s fate has been tied to their villainy ever since that historic night. Steelheart killed his father. Firefight stole his heart. And now Regalia has turned his closest ally into a dangerous enemy.”
“David knew Prof’s secret and kept it even when Prof struggled to control the effects of his Epic powers. But facing Obliteration in Babilar was too much. Once the Reckoners’ leader, Prof has now embraced his Epic destiny. He’s disappeared into those murky shadows of menace Epics are infamous for the world over, and everyone knows there’s no turning back. . . .”
“But everyone is wrong. Redemption is possible for Epics—Megan proved it. They’re not lost. Not completely. And David is just about crazy enough to face down the most powerful High Epic of all to get his friend back. Or die trying.”
