The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 flies into cinemas on May 5th, 2017.
A little over a month after the first teaser for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hit theaters, a second Guardians of the Galaxy 2 teaser trailer has arrived. And I’m guessing that at least in part based on the warm reception that Baby Groot received from fans when he showed up in the first teaser, they decided to emphasize his role in the film with this second teaser as well.
Also returning for a second round is another humorous moment with Drax filling out the trailer. It’s interesting to see the characters find their role in the team, with Drax starting to carry more of the humor.
The trailer actually shows quite a bit, though I suppose they’re classifying it as a “teaser” because it focuses mostly on Baby Groot and doesn’t reveal much of the plot. Also missing in action is any footage of Kurt Russell as Ego, the Living Planet, which I’m very interested to see.
With the May 5th date rolling up on us soon, I imagine we’ll be seeing a full trailer in January, with a second one in March-ish, followed by a parade of spots right up until release day.
UPDATE 10-19-16: Holy Baby Groot! The Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Teaser Trailer is Here
The first Guardians of the Galaxy 2 teaser trailer has arrived, and for those of us who weren’t lucky enough to make it out to San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year, we finally get our first chance to see some of what’s coming.
The trailer sadly doesn’t have any footage of Kurt Russell, playing the living planet Ego and Star-Lord’s father, and it doesn’t reveal much in the way of plot, but it is still pretty satisfying.
The Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Teaser Trailer
OK. So, now that we’ve watched it a few more times, among the joys of the trailer:
- The reappearance of the Blue Swede’s Hooked on a Feeling
- Fun banter between Star-Lord and Drax
- Rocket with baby Groot
- Star-Lord’s cool touch activated mask
Now, just a second ago, I said that we didn’t get to see any Kurt Russell, but then going back through the trailer again, there’s this shot:
Which to me looks like it might be Star-Lord making contact with Ego. Just a thought, and I
might be am probably wrong, but if I’m not, then… well, you heard it here first …?
For anyone who’s been living under a rock, the original cast is all returning for the sequel, as is writer / director James Gunn. There’s also a possibility that Nathan Fillion will have a cameo as Wonder Man.
The movie comes out on May 5th, 2017, kicking off the “summer” movie season for Disney and Marvel. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a full trailer accompanying a certain Doctor’s movie coming out next month, and certainly, we’ll see more by Christmas. So, what do you all think of the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 teaser trailer?
It looks like 2017 will be the year time travel makes a comeback. I mentioned the recent popularity of the time travel genre in books, but it appears to be bleeding into movies and television as well.

UPDATE 4-17-16: Is Nathan Fillion Wonder Man In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2?
The short answer to those questions is yes, and not much. However, we know this information deserves a long answer, so here we go. Nathan Fillion is returning to the Marvel Universe for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and this time not to voice a CGI character. (For those of you who don’t know, in the prison scene, when Quill is approached by this huge monster, who later gets Groot’s branches stuck in his nostrils, that is the guy Fillion voiced. See image below). Director James Gunn, a friend of Fillion’s with a long established relationship [Click here to read more…]
