Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Movie Trilogy Confirmed

Promotional still for the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie - Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Movie Trilogy Confirmed

Are You Excited for a Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Movie Trilogy?

This magic never ends – and the fans of the Harry Potter franchise will be thrilled to hear that there won’t be just one new prequel, but actually three of them. In one tweet, JK Rowling dismissed the rumors of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play ever being made into a movie and announced however that the newest prequel/spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be turned into three movies. The first one is set to be released this year on November 18th, the second one in 2018, and the final one in 2020. So there are many magical months and years ahead of us, and the fans will be able to enjoy both the play (which will be on the stage in June this year) and the upcoming movies.

The story is set in the 1920s, 70 years before the Sorcerer’s Stone, across the pond in New York. It will feature the protagonist Newt Scamander, who may be familiar to you from the Harry Potter books (after all, one of Harry’s books Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was written by this character). Eddie Redmayne has been cast to play Newt, and when asked if he had advice for Redmayne, Daniel Radcliffe had this to say, ‘No, I don’t think he needs advice — just like, enjoy it. I don’t think there’s anything to live up to as well, especially because it’s not like there’s original source material which is a very strong narrative. You know, the Fantastic Beasts book is really cool, but it’s a bestiary. I hope he’s really enjoying it and not feeling too much pressure.

Although it must be impossible for Redmayne not to feel pressure (he has some big shoes to fill, after all), we will just have to wait and see in November whether Harry Potter can ever be matched.
