German Actress Franke Potente Joins Dark Matter Season 2
Dark Matter Season 2 is gaining an impressive new cast member: German actress Franka Potente. Potente, first exploding on the international scene with the kinetic romantic thriller Lola Rennt (Run Lola Run), is best known to American audiences as Jason Bourne’s love interest in The Bourne Identity and as Anne Frank in American Horror Story: Asylum. She will be joining the popular sci-fi space opera in the recurring role of Commander Shaddick, Chief Inspector of the Galactic Authority Serious Crimes Division.
Potente will join the already great selection of series regulars, including Marc Bendavid (One), Melissa O’Neil (Two), Anthony Lemke (Three), Alex Mallari Jr. (Four), Jodelle Ferland (Five), Roger Cross (Six) and Zoie Palmer as the android. Melanie Liburd and Shaun Sipos are also being added as series regulars for the upcoming Dark Matter season 2.
Potente’s character, Commander Shaddick is being described as “cool, calculated and determined to prove the crew of the Raza were involved in the destruction of Iriden 3.” so we don’t even doubt this great actress will do an amazing job portraying such an interesting character.
For those who aren’t familiar with the show, Dark Matter was created by Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie, who were also both writers and executive producers for Stargate. The first season of the show deals with six strangers (One – Six) and an android, who wake up from stasis on the spaceship Raza with no memory of how they got there, why they’re there, or even who they are. The only clue they have is a cargo hold full of weapons and the fact that they’re headed to a remote mining colony which is about to erupt in chaos and war.
In Dark Matter Season 2, they become mixed up in an intergalactic conspiracy and set off to find a mysterious device that may prove to be the solution for the coming corporate war. A brief teaser for season 2 is available for viewing, but you’ll have to wait until July 1st to see the Season 2 premiere on Syfy.
