Captain Marvel - Russo Brothers Confirm Captain Marvel in Avengers: Infinity War

With Captain Marvel in Avengers: Infinity War movies, Will It Affect Her Solo Movie?

While we still don’t know much about the upcoming third Avengers movie, Infinity War, including exactly which superheroes exactly are going to be there, the directors Anthony and Joe Russo accidentally let a bit of information slip regarding a new character who will be in the movie at an event at the Smithsonian Institute. So far, we know that all of the Avengers will reprise their roles, with the addition of Josh Brolin as Thanos, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, and a few other Marvel characters. But thanks to an accidental drop by the Russos, we now know that we will see Captain Marvel in Avengers: Infinity War, prior to her solo movie.

After the slip, when a fan asked “did you just confirm Captain Marvel,” the Russos tried to backtrack by replying “Um….Captain Barvel. Totally different character.” After a quick search of the current Marvel line-up revealed no trace of this “Captain Barvel,” we can safely assume they mean Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel. Given that the Avengers: Infinity War 2 part movie will have an immense scale, including basically every Marvel superhero to date (whether the directors will include characters from TV shows, such as The Defenders still remains to be seen), it shouldn’t come as a surprise that some new characters will be taking part as well. Rumor has it that Doctor Strange will also be making an appearance as well, but we’ll have to wait and see about that.

This wouldn’t be the first time Marvel introduced a new character before their actual solo movie. Take, for example, the recent Captain America: Civil War, where we had two new and amazing actors portraying Spider-Man and Black Panther before their solo movie debuts in 2017 and 2018. So giving Carol Danvers some screen-time in the Avengers should prove to be a good move as well.

While no casting was yet revealed for the role of Captain Marvel in Avengers: Infinity War, we’ll be keeping an eye out for an official announcement soon. Part 1 of Avengers: Infinity War comes out on May 4, 2018, while the Captain Marvel solo movie is currently scheduled for March 8, 2019.
